Kapten, you are the Executive Officer of the 1st Estonian regiment being formed in Tallinn under supervision of Imperial Russian authorities. In this training exercise you will co-ordinate the actions of the battalions directly under your command with the maneuver of elements of the Russian 425th regiment.

Your first task is to hold a defensive position at Rapta. Two German groups, the KaiserGrupe and the BismarckGrupe, will assault. Form an assault group and, with the help of Russian reinforcements, strike the German flank and to capture Kella. Also be aware of any German cavalry activity on your own flanks as you move toward your final objective SW of Rapta.

The battle: in the first attempt I sent too many units to Kella and could not capture the southern VH in the BV-turnlimit. In the second attempt I distributed my units better. The Russian aux units were able to capture Kella alone and the southern VH was no longer a problem.

Major, The Russo-German front has collapsed. In September, Riga fell to an unprecedented stormtrooper attack. The Russians have retreated in disarray. All that prevents the Germans from rolling toward Tallinn and Petrograd is the island-fortress of Osel (Saaremaa).

Intelligence reports that a force of gargantuan proportions is being assembled for the assault. Unfortunately, your regiment is slated to join the defenders. The Estonian HQ believes that sending your regiment to Osel is a hopeless task. Care has been taken to ensure sufficient transport remains on Osel to evacuate your regiment. Your orders for this mission are as follows:
1. Fortify along positions of Ft. Orissaare, Ft. Woi, and Kuresaare.
2. Hold your positions until you are relieved.
3. Your signal for retreat will be the appearance of trooper barges in the harbor of Latti. To end the scenario, "capture" the city of Latti. In order to achieve a satisfactory win, you MUST wait until trooper barges arrive! Please note that a Brilliant Victory is not possible in this scenario.

The battle: ... was very confusing in the air and at sea and was dominated by the enemy.
I gathered my core units around Ft. Orissaare and heroically defended the position. In the course of the scenario, the enemy was completely destroyed.
Kuresaare was defended by the aux units. They had a hard time against a numerically superior enemy. Before they surrendered, I took Latti and ended the scenario with a regular victory.

Major, just recently Estonia has declared her independent status from the crumbling Russian Empire. At this time, Germany has launched an offensive against Russia to force compliance with the Brest-Litovsk terms. Germany has agreed to guarantee Estonian independence.

The German have deployed the 439th and 406th regiments of the 205th division. The 439th regiment (raised from Baltic Germans in Wilna during 1917) is supported by an armored train (Panzerzug) and has the objective to capture Narva. Use this as an opportunity to learn warfare on rails. Apart from artillery and assault wagons, regular units may be embarked onto railroad cars for rapid transport (as is the case with the III/439 German battalion). Armored trains are very powerful units on the battlefield, but they become severely vulnerable when encircled.

The German 406th regiment - a landwehr formation - is tasked with capturing Slantsy. Intelligence reports that the Bolsheviks have retained control of elements of the experienced 6th Siberian division. In addition, the Bolsheviks are amassing loyal sailors for a counterstrike from Narva.

Historical note: Ten years after this battle, the date Feb. 23 was proclaimed to be the official birthday of the Soviet Armed forces. Dybenko's stunning defeat was masked by the Communist propagandists.
HQ: I bought a support weapon and a machine gun.

The battle: is again confusing. North of Gorodenka and in the adjacent swamps are partisans. Nearby VH's should definitely be secured because a later loss is not repairable. Narva was captured by frontal assault with heavy losses. The aux ATY platoon is very helpful.
In the south there are few opponents, Slantsy is the first place (VH) which is seriously defended. From there it goes in an arc on the eastern bank of Narva-River in the back of Narva to capture the third VH (unfortunately after the BV limit).

Kolonelleitnant, your expertise and the experience of your troops are needed at the training grounds of the 3rd regiment outside of Vyru on Lake Peipus. There have been reports of violations of our borders by the Red Army. Their raids have left many civilians dead, and it is up to you to protect them. Battalions from the 4th Narva regiment and from the 2nd Tartu regiment will be ready to provide assistance if the Soviets violate the border.

Kolonelleitnant, it is good that your regiment has been training on the border. The Red Army has launched an offensive against Estonia and our White Russian allies along two axes: from the south-east with the aims of Pskov, Tartu and along the Baltic Sea with the aims of Narva, Rakvere, Tallinn. It appears that the Reds have been held up at Pskov, so your regiment must relocate to Narva as quickly as possible.

The defenders of Narva include the local 4th regiment and remnants of the German 405th. It is unfortunate, but we must retreat from the city in the face of overwhelming Soviet forces. Following a massive naval operation by the Soviets, a large contingent of enemy troops has captured territory to the west of Narva. To make matters even worse, there are Estonian traitors fighting for the Reds to the south-west of the city. Your objective is to provide for a secure evacuation of the Narva garrison. To fulfill your mission, you must:
1. Hold Narva until you capture all other objectives
2. Clear the Tallinn-Narva railroad of all enemy activity
3. Destroy the base of operations of Soviet naval infantry forces in the village of Udria.
You will receive reinforcements from the Rakvere 5th regiment, supported by Estonia's first armored train.

NOTE: a Brilliant Victory is not possible in this scenario.
HQ: no activities. I thought for a long time what to do with the prototype - keep it or sell it? It has no HA and SA, only low AA - but there are no enemies in the air. I can use it only for reconnaissance.

The battle: I launched twice for a better deployment. Especially the defenders of Narva I had to reinforce with ATY and support weapons, because here were the strongest attacks with many Bolshevik units.
The challenge was rewarded with two leaders.

Kolonel, Brigaadikindral Kubbo welcomes you to his staff of the 1st brigade. You are already familiar with the area: just last month you trained your troops nearby on the shores of Lake Peipus...

The 1st brigade has been formed to combine all forces defending Tartu. These include the 2nd and 3rd regiments and the Bulak-Bulakhovich brigade of the White Russian North Corps (which has been retreating from Pskov). Due to a Bolshevik-orchestrated coup at Tartu, a batallion from the 2nd regiment has scattered, and Kubbo withdrew his forces toward Vortsjarv.

Your troops will join the 1st brigade in a counter-offensive aimed at recapturing Tartu and at stopping the Red Latvians at this frontier. Beware of roadblocks that Soviet partisans have set up on the approaches to Tartu! You will receive as reinforcement what little reserves the brigade posesses within days.

NOTE: although the Red Army sent a single (49th Red Latvian) regiment to capture Tartu, the numbers of the opposing forces were evenly matched. This is due to wildly varying organization of troops for both sides at the time.
HQ: i improved the INF + ATY and gave many units faster transportation.

The battle: ... i started twice. In the first attempt the aux units were too offensive and were almost destroyed by the counterattack. At the same time many of my units were too slow and could not participate in the battle. In the second attempt I improved the transport, the aux units defended only Varnja and the core units captured the three VH's.

Kolonel, you are charged with turning the tide of the Bolshevik offensive here at Tallinn. With the Red Army troops just 30 km away from the Estonian capital, this battle is the pivotal engagement of the Estonian War of Independence.

Under your command is the Soomusrongide Kolon, which contains your 1st regiment and (still under formation) elements of Estonia's armored train fleet. You are to requisition what armored train equipment is already available and report to the battlefield. Once you recapture the initiative, expect more equipment to complement your Soomusrong.

To the south, the Soviet 5th Army is pushing toward Kella. In the center, the 7th is threatening Tallinn. Along the coast, the Soviets are sending their own armored trains along with the ChK. Soviet partisans have subverted some Estonians to fight for their cause. Beware of Soviet marine parties landing on the outskirts of the capital. You are to expect Scandianavian volunteers and the British Fleet any day now. The Republic's eyes are upon you, Kolonel!

Brigaadikindral, your promotion places you in command of the northern wing of our counter-offensive against the Red Army. You must capture two important cities along the Tallinn-Narva railroad (Rakvere and Sami) and eliminate the Russian garrison at the port of Letipea. In this operation you will combine breakthrough maneuver on land and railroad and an amphibious operation.

You must form a marine detachment (3 units) out of specially trained infantry and MG units. Our Finnish allies have promised to send a detachment of their 1st regiment, so expect their help shortly. Intelligence reports that the Russians have unloaded siege guns-most likely en route to Tallinn earlier-at the port of Letipea. Don't let these catch your transports in the water!

Tactically, this task is challenging. Intelligence reports that the full 46th Soviet regiment has taken positions somewhere between Rakvere and the Baltic Sea. In addition, their 1st cavalry regiment has stopped in the area en route to the front line. Also, remnants of battered regiments are filtering through our lines to rejoin their comrades. Beware of their sudden appearance on your flanks!

Brigaadikindral, we have returned to Narva once again. The strategic importance of this city is immesureable. The scale of this battle will test your skill and bravery.

In order to command complete control of the whole eastern frontier of Estonia proper, both Narva and Slantsy must be captured. The Narva Lake divides the battlefield into two regions. To the north, your Soomusrongide Kolon will lead the frontal breakthrough. They will face the battered 6th Soviet rifle division. In addition, the Finnish 1st regiment has made a successful landing at Hungerburg. It appears that the Soviets have pulled up the 19th rifle division to Narva, because their regiments are facing the Finns.

To the south, your forces are tasked with providing a mobile brigade. We can only guess what forces will oppose you on the road to Slantsy. Given the information from the Finns, you should expect elements of the 19th rifle division somewhere. Also, most alarmingly, the Soviet 1st cavalry regiment has broken away from fighting to the south-west of us and is on their way to Narva as well.

Brigaadikindral, victory at Narva has brought stability to the whole eastern frontier... for the moment. Using a rapidly-growing railroad capability, we have been able to transfer your battle-hardened troops to the southern sector of fighting. The situation here has been difficult for the 2nd and 3rd regiments, the Kuperjanow Brigade, and the Pohjan Poikain Finnish regiment. With rapid Bolshevik political and military gains in neighboring Latvia, the Red Army has found an ally among many of them: enough for a full standing division and another in formation! Defensively, Valga is an important railroad hub, and its capture will tear a large gap in the Soviet Latvian Army's northern flank.

The Red Latvians have fortified within the city. They are keeping 2 regiments in reserve, and intelligence warns of an unknown number of armored trains present. On both sides of the Latvians are regular Soviet divisions. The 85th regiment of the 10th, has partially deserted. We have no way of knowing the full extent of the Latvians' reinforcements, so expect the worst after you capture Valga...
HQ: I bought an ATY and improved the bomber.

The battle: ... at the beginning you make good progress, but then everything gets stuck again, you beat several turns on the opponent without achieving significant losses. Even units with 1/10 strength can easily withstand several attacks - it's exasperating and absolutely no fun. Stacked units and hidden attacks from partisans or units that have broken through somewhere add to the chaos on the battlefield.

The next scenario would have been:
Marienburg - Aluksne
February 10, 1919

Brigaadikindral, Kolonel Kalm of the Finnish Pohjan Poikain regiment has presented the following plan to you in confidence: he wishes to continue to pursue the retreating Soviet forces into Latvia proper. With the political sitation still unstable in Latvia (there had been an official announcement of the formation of a Bolshevik Latvian government), you are certain that such a move will not be approved by the Estonian military command. However, such a daring move will deal a severe tactical and strategic blow to the Red Army in this region.

Accepting Kalm's plan, you will have neither the time nor the HQ support to outfit your troops properly for the attack: only 9 battalions (including a maximum of 4 Soomusrong units) can participate. Furthermore, this is a hunt-and-destroy mission. You must eliminate all Soviet forces in the region.
I played a few turns and after the ground conditions once again changed to mud, I abandoned the scenario.

After that I decide to stop the campaign here and pull the exit option of the previous scenario

With the loss in the previous scenario, I successfully completed the campaign.

With this I have played all CC's at least once. The last months / years were frustrating because there was hardly any feedback on the CC's from the forum. Especially the disinterest of the other members of the CC team is unacceptable for me, but probably everyone lives here in his own bubble.

As i am old to game but newbie to the forum (and never knew about the old one) you have a great respect from me.
The "problem" is that a lot of people quit this game (or i don't know what happends when the old forum closed)
BUT:
We are here, many thanks to Luis and because life moves forward, everyone keeps moving.
I am here thanks to randowe because he keeps the game alive. I started (even now, that i am 49 y.o.) to create scenarios because i love this game.
So, no reason to disappoint, if you love something, keep moving forward.
Once more a big thanks to all of you guys here.

I read every of your CC posts, every post in the forum, but i can not comment on the old campaigns :dunno
We have to accept that the days of CCs are over. So everyone should play what you like and what brings you joy and fun.

I wish there would be more activity in the forum and i have spoken about this topic more than once in the recent years.
Unfortunately the OG forum is basically dead and none of the admins, moderators or vast majority of the users have "time" to write a post every now and then. Just drop a post every now and then and let people now you are well and interested.
Things change. On Discord i write with Dimitiris more in one week than here in one year :lol So there can still be motivation boosts!
