Official trailers.

A series based on the writings of Tolkien about the Second Age. So it is said.
That said, it should contain much "creative license" as the Second Age was the one Tolkien left in a more "schematic" form.
For the First Age there are The Lay of Leithian or the Story of Beren and Lúthien, The Children of Húrin or the Story of Túrin Turambar and his sister Niénor and The Fall of Gondolin, the hidden city.
It's various versions can provide a basis, once disparities are filed off, for movies / series along the rest of the Quenta Silmarillion.
For the Second Age there is the Akallabêth, the account of the Fall of Númenor.
That one reads somewhat like a chronicle. Although not completely devoid of detail.

The Rings are forged well late into the Second Age, after the Fall (sinking) of Númenor, and their forging brings about the war that ends it.
So I have some curiosity as to at what point are they going to start telling the story...
The end should be not much after Isildur cuts Sauron's finger... but will it be?

Nah!
The Dark Lord has the rights on the thing and he will not release it to the free people's of Middle Earth...
Not without shooting a Master Episode to rule them all, anyway...
