Kaiser Efile corner
Welcome to Kaiser General!
Back on 2010, when this project was born, the main objective was to allow OpenGen community to play WW1 campaigns and scenarios. After all these years, the Equipment File is expanded covering warfare from 1840 to 1926.
This means that the period's main wars and conflicts are reflected (American Civil War, Boer War, Russo-Japanese war, almost all fronts of WW1, and Russian Civil War), but also a range of colonial wars and other lesser known conflits.
Get it Here:
http://www.open-general.com/install/efi ... KAISER.zip
Current version V.24/05/20
And last but not least, I'd like to express my gratitude to all people who helped and supported the project over the years. Without them, Kaiser General II would not have been possible:
Anatoliy Ioffe 'Toliy', Patrick Steinmann, Luis Guzmán, Jurgen Smet 'Wonderdoctor', Radovan Nesic 'Radoye', Oliver Hellfeier 'Von Schweinewitz', Guillermo Bores 'Guille', Luis Ortega 'Urica', Bob C, Csaba Zsadányi-Nagy 'lvjtn', Matze Kessler, Timoteusz Pawlowski 'Blitzstoper', Mark 'Spasteur de Mont Tonnerre', Marcos Martín 'Paqueo', Clemens 'Randowe' & Doug Hone.
Hope to not forget anyone.
Enjoy!
Juankar.

Hola Juankar
There is a new NamesEX.txt file, allowing to have uncommented lines (i.e. Nation Name) to delimit entries in the Names file.
The easiest way of creating the NamesEX file is to load a savegame of Kaiser - then the file with (uncommented) Nation Names and Leader Names is created automatically.
With my own Efile i discovered a bug and with the help of Luis, it became cleare that it is a missing Leader Name somewhere:
https://i.imgur.com/6G7Ivwx.png
For Kaiser, it seems that several Names are missing:
I'm lacking the time to check myself, but going through each nation should reveal where Names are missing.

Re: Kaiser Efile corner
Chris, how did you create this list?
i checked kaiser with the latest suite (5.0.72.7b) and game (0.93.3.5.Test), and no NamesEx.txt was created
btw. the kaiser names.txt file is perfect, except the last nation (zanzibar) hasn't been added yet, so whatever made this list, that tool is what is wrong

Re: Kaiser Efile corner
Suite 5.0.72.7
OG 0.93.3.5.Test
Start OG
Load Efile
Load Campaign/Single Scenario
Save
Exit OG
Start Suite
Load Save
--> Suite creates NamesEX
I don't know a simpler method to get the file quickly
For further questions, i'm back tomorrow, sorry.

Re: Kaiser Efile corner
you definitely didn't read what i wrote nevermind, i figured out: i had a suite older with a half version number
and i also found the bug in suite, so very likely you should rework all NamesEx.txt what you created, sorry
Re: Kaiser Efile corner
Is there a bug or not?
There are 2697 leader names in the old names.txt. Take the first 31 off and divide the 2666 through 86 countries the result is 31!
Some names must gone missing when the new namesEX.txt is created?
In the new namesEX.txt are 2744 lines. Take off the 86 country no-read lines and we have 2658. 8 names are missing? See, at the end of my post there are 8 names missing too.
The last name of *** #52 .. Anarchist Ukraine is Collins, what might belong to the next country *** #53 .. Ireland.
The last two names of *** #53 .. Ireland are Alekseev and Denikin which seems to belong to the next country *** #54 .. White Russia
Then the two wrong names seems to be carried over until *** #71 .. Turkey which seems to have already 6 wrong names from the following country
*** #72 .. Chinese Revolutionaries. The 6 names are: Sun Yat-sen, Li Yuanhong, Huang Hsing, Chen Qimei, Hu Hanmin, Huang Fu
*** #85 .. Kingdom of Hungary has 7 names from the following country *** #86 .. Empire of Vietnam. The 7 names are Thanh Gian, Trung Truc, Thanh Liem, Dinh, Phuong, Xuan Duc, Xuan Nguyen. These names are definitely not hungarian.
The last country to date, *** #86 .. Empire of Vietnam, has only 23 leader names, so i guess, there are 8 names missing without all countries.
EDIT: Csaba already found the bug. Sorry for my post. I was to late/it took me too long to do the math and write here

Re: Kaiser Efile corner
hola juankar,
for our new rise&fall campaign we have two wishes.... maybe its possible...
idea is, later in the campaign, while germany invades the english coast in the east, the irish starts an uprising in the west, supported by german money and equipment....
later, mexico joines the german side...so we wish us for christmas:
1. is it possible to copy all the mexican rebels(49) units to mexico(42) ?
2. is it possible to add some units for ireland(52):
maybe just some -light guns: "conquered british" and "spended german"
-one or two kind of militia
-a horse recon
-a mg unit
-land & naval transports, as usual, and maybe an aux-ship "armed fisherboat".....?

Re: Kaiser Efile corner
Noticed that there's an unit (E:0939 Workers) that could fit well? Or you still need a specific unit for Irish Rebels with defense/attack values, etc?
Re: Kaiser Efile corner
Yes, the workers should do the trick if bridging is needed. For the other infantry units, please pick what you think makes sense for the Irish Rebels. Something like an HQ infantry, an armed mob, and a better trained rebels unit/militia/sailors. As well as a MG unit, a horse recon, a light and medium gun (captured). Of course the more units, the better That will also add to the atmosphere when there are some different Irish units. Please choose what you think fits best
Many thanks in advance from all of us for helping us out again

Re: Kaiser Efile corner
After my graphics card burned out and i switched over to the internal intel card, i get to play many adventure or older games. I came across the Open General(I played the PGII and mods many years ago) and i am addicted. I played the old kaiserreich mod for Hearts of Iron but the historically accuracy blow me away. I learned many facts about the war in africa, the russian civil war, or the pre-war-campaign. Then i started watching "The Great War" Youtube-Channel and played many campaigns that were there explained.
I am a novice and the game is still difficult for me. The "Hecker" and "The Novemberrevolution" campaigns is for me even on 150 prestige still difficult. Currently i am playing the Anzac campaign and the real obstacles like the turkish artillery and terrian are perfect simulated.
I played many mods like Forgotten Hope or Europa Barbarorum or games like Hearts of Iron or Total War but in the last years i found only Open General a historically accuracy Open Source/Mod-Project/Game.
Many thanks for the content creators and the devs of Open General.
I am german sorry for my bad englisch.

Thanks for posting your Open General story. Many people have contributed to the Kaiser e-file and the campaigns created for it. Some feedback every now and then is nice I would like to encourage you to participate in one of the next Kaiser CCs (campaign challenge - multiple players playing the same campaign and posting results here) when it takes place.

If you feel 150% is still a bit to hard, you can play on a higher prestige level. Nobody should feel ashamed when playing at 200% or 300%. When i was new to the game i played on higher levels as well. On a quick look, the game is not hard to play, but it takes some time to learn how to use all the different units and combine their abilities in the best way. Have fun!
Re: Kaiser Efile corner
In the last 2 weeks i played Urica's 1918-20 SIM POBEDISHI! and just want to praise Urica for his campaign. The scenarios are built so well, many are just perfect I can only recommend to play this campaign!
I wonder if scenarios like these are possible in a WW2 environment too
Only the constant blowing of the rail tracks (by my own arty) and the player 3 (AI) auxiliary troops turned me down a bit
See the auxiliary cossacks act and die was painful
At the end i took the path leading to the second Tobol scenario. I wanted to avoid the winter scenarios

Re: Kaiser Efile corner
I have finished Russian Imperial Army campaign: high quality stuff and it is really huge; although, I have some comments at the units used.
- 57mm gun "Sokol". What is this? I don't know any Russian 57mm gun used in Great War
- Armiansky infantry. I an not aware of any Armenian national formations in RIA
- Turkestansky infantry. This is correct, RIA had national formation made up from Middle Asian recruits. These had low moral for offense (they didn't have a slightest idea what this war was about) but stood fine when attacked. I guess it could be reflected in the game: give them less attack values but decent defensive ones. Will give them some distinction from the other infantry
- Finsky infantry. Despite being called "Finnish" these division were mostly staffed with regular Russian recruits; the word "Finnish" reflects the place of dislocation
- I can't believe there is no Latvian Riflemen. These were formed in 1915 almost exclusively from Latvian recruits and proved themselves to be a first-class infantry. Also, they were armed with American made Winchester 1895 rifles which is cool. A good candidate for quality infantry
- I have seen Sibirsky infantry in some maps but they weren't available for purchase. These regiments were good as well, Siberian Russians proved their worth in many conflicts. I guess they should be available as another type of quality infantry my memory is crap and Sibirsky units are available well before the late campaign

Re: Kaiser Efile corner
Now this is an outrage
This is the end of my turn
This is the start of AI turn
Quite formidable amount of enemy units spawned out of thin air just on top of my troops.
I go at great lengths to protect my units from enemy artillery fire. Here, AI gets two shots for free and because AI overperforms more often than not my foremost inf unit is usually gone
I noticed this a lot in my previous playthrough, for example in Marasesti map; first time, though, I was playing with 250 prestige and I thought: "okay, maybe it is just me too overpowered and I push too far forward". This time I play with 100 prestige and I still encounter those teleports.
How about placing enemy reinforcements on the side of the map instead of the middle of it?
