1 Alcazar de Toledo v

I started the campaign several times, first with 100% prestige and I don't have a good feeling about this campaign.
Already in the first scenario I had no reasonable idea how to achieve a BV. I either narrowly missed or lost the scenario. The turn limit is too tight for me.
I tried different compositions of my troops, also bought expensive engineers to drive the opponent out of his entrenchment, but it didn't help.
Out of frustration I then took the 200% variant. This increases the starting prestige to buy the first units from 1000 to 1300 pp. On the map there are still over 1000pp under the small flags and it remains a mystery to me what the designer intends with this - they are unreachable within the turn limit and actually only distract from the main goal. But maybe that's the idea behind this tempting offer.

2 Marcha hacia Madrid lttv

HQ: I bought two INF, one AT and one ATY.

The fight: The core must be divided into two groups that are about equal in strength. The faster units, if any, should be placed in the south. After liberating the southern VH's, they must support the other units in capturing the VH's north of Toledo or march directly to the northeast, where another three well-defended VH's await.

The fighting strength of all units is frighteningly low and it seems as if the units are just throwing cotton balls at each other. The ammunition supply is also very low everywhere. The only bright spot is the ATY, which has 11 ammo and its own movement rate of 1.

3 Batalla de Madrid ltbv

HQ: After playing four turns I noticed that GERMANY is purchasable as a support nation! A very pleasant surprise! I immediately broke the run and went back to HQ. I sold every expendable Spanish unit and bought German equipment for it: 2x infantry, 2x engineers and 2x 10.5 leFH18. During the scenario I bought a fighter because AI conquered air superiority, which I didn't want to let happen.
At the end of the scenario, after all flags were captured, I bought more German units: 1x INF, 2x Pz IIA, 1x Recon and a heavy ATY. These are the units that are in the AAR without experience.

The battle: Own units are placed in the north and face the most experienced, strongest and best entrenched opponent. The battle is arduous.
The aux units in the center and south have easier tasks. The opponent is numerous, but his strength is usually only 3 or 4 and the units can be easily destroyed. There are problems again with the low ammunition.

I could have finished earlier, but I still collected all the flags with prestige to be able to finance my unit purchases at the end of the scenario.

It is worth mentioning that a prestige cap is now suddenly installed. With 200%, I'm way above it and won't have to worry about win bonuses in the future .

HQ: no activities. Germany as a support nation is no longer present. During the scenario I bought a second Fighter.

The battle: The German units make the difference and decide the battle faster than it would be possible with Spanish units. The opponent is within range of my ATY, the distances are short.
The republican air force with its Russian fighters has to be taken into account.
I could have finished sooner, but collected all flags with prestige.

The battle: only four ground units can be deployed. The Italian allies provide the bulk of the units and attack from the north-east. My units involved come from the north.
The map is well known as SSI-Madrid. Deviating from the SSI variant, most of the defenders are in the center of the map.

General Franco have changed the strategy, now we must end with the Republican resistance in the North Front, then the Republicans will lose their main industrial areas. However spies are reporting about a big concentration of forces Westwards to Madrid... You can join the assault on the North of Spain, or stay in the West of Madrid, awaiting a possible enemy powerful strike...

By getting a BV you will fight on the battles of Brunete and Belchite. Otherwise, get a V if you want to go to defeat the Republican resistance in the North, in this case you will fight in Euzkadi and Asturias.

7 Batalla de Brunete bv-8

HQ: no activities. New units are available with 185 exp, but only with 8/8 strength.
I reject units with standard strength below 10/10. Therefore I went back one scenario and bought two units with strength 10/10 in the HQ of the Choice scenario - an ATY and a bomber.

The battle: The AI is aggressive and tries to capture the VH's near them. I give up two VH's in the east and pull the units back until I can reinforce them with my advancing units from the south and then counterattack.
In the meantime, I run into problems with reinforcements from the enemy - first in the east, later in the west. Everything is a bit like partisan warfare, there are constant surprises with enemy units that have cheated their way through the front.

The length of the Szeanrios with 26 turns to BV is repulsive for me and I try to finish it as soon as possible.

HQ: I bought 2x INF, 1x Recon, 1x AT, 1x ATY, 1x AD and a Fighter.

The Battle: In the North and South I lost several VH's each to the attacking Republicans. In the south, the Republican air force intervened in the battle.
My fighters flew to the south and had an easy time there. My AD earned his first experience protecting my ATY, later in ground combat with the enemy INF.

10 Batalla del Ebro bv-19

HQ: full OS on all ATY and bomber. During the scenario I bought three Recon bombers.

Combat: I am once again glad that I am playing with 200% prestige and thus have the possibility to finish the scenarios in less time than the designer planned. Who please has time and patience to play a single scenario with 35 to 40 turns. No matter if the battle was really epic and resembled the battles of WW1 (frontal attacks on entrenched positions, many units have entrenchment over 20) - sorry, I just find it boring.
On turn 4, the enemy gets reinforcements that pop up in the middle of my units.

Although my units gained a lot of experience, they did not get new leaders - the aux units block the free slots.

11 Batalla del Segre (bv-9)

HQ: Germany is available again as a support nation. I sold a Recon TB and then upgraded the entire INF to German units. The two Spanish Recon I changed to German models (same price). Last, I upgraded the Influence ATY to a larger caliber.

The battle: In contrast to the previous scenario, relatively easy. However, the opponent had very experienced units (more than 500 exp), so I suffered unplanned losses. After 4 of 13 turns it was still over, my superiority was too great.

The BV would have meant a continuation of the campaign. However, the download of the needed map from the internet failed. So I pretend that I only achieved a normal victory and end the campaign at this point.
