INTRODUCTION

Existing Documentation
There is quite a bit of information "publicly" available which applies to Panzer General Forever (PGF) in varying degrees of specificity and detail. Examples follow:
1) SSI's Panzer General 1 and Allied General manuals and bundled notes can be very useful.
2) The documentation that PGF's developer / programmer included with the wargame's release can also be quite useful.
Library: Why ?
There are two (2) overarching goals which this online Library hopes to achieve:
a) Directly and exclusively focus on PGF as opposed to this or that "cousin" software which is "like" PGF. The devil is always in the details...
b) Directly and clearly address the specifically envisaged needs of players and modders alike.
Library: How Long ?
This will be a long-term, evolutionary affair. Library content will be subject to ad hoc modifications and additions.
Library: Why Online ?
The Library's online manifestation serves two (2) main purposes:
A) It allows users to quickly access well organized information.
B) It allows the Librarian to quickly and effectively link, modify and add information by taking advantage of the forum's engine.

FEEDBACK
FEEDBACK
=========
The Library is a work in progress. As such, it should be flexible enough to accommodate feedback regarding presentational, organizational and content clarity and accuracy matters. Currently, there are two (2) suggested communication channels:
"Public" Channel
PGF Library: Omnibus Posting (ask questions or comment here)viewtopic.php?f=95&t=526
"Private" Channel
Send the Librarian a private message (PM) via the forum's built-in messaging system.

INTENDED USER BASE
INTENDED USER BASE
===================
The Library's envisaged user base are both Players and Modders. Specifically:
Novice Players (NPs)
Veteran Players (VPs)
Novice Modders (NMs)
Veteran Modders (VMs)
Novice Players
Invariably, NPs are not familiar with SSI's 5 Star General play systems. To this effect, they need quite a bit of documentation support when it comes to dealing with even "elementary things".
The titles of topics primarily intended to assist NPs will sport the prefix "[NP]".
Veteran Players
VPs are already familiar with SSI's 5 Star General play systems. Quite a few of them are also actually familiar with SSI's Panzer General 1 and / or Allied General. Most importantly, most of VPs are already familiar with PGF itself.
VPs tend to stick with PGF for awhile. As a result, they eventually become aware of play system features and details which happen to be different from those encountered in "cousin" wargames. Moreover, their play "sophistication" rests on an adequate knowledge of a diverse set of PGF's play system mechanics.
The titles of topics primarily intended to assist VPs will sport the prefix "[VP]".
Novice Modders
Invariably, NMs desire to get their feet wet with light modding projects. To this effect, they need quite a bit of technical documentation support when it comes to even attempting "elementary modding things".
The titles of topics primarily intended to assist NMs will sport the prefix "[NM]".
Veteran Modders
VMs have already acquired considerable experience in modding content playable under PGF. They tend to stick with PGF for years. As a result, they eventually focus on modding technical information which will assist them in coming up with design innovations. More often than not, innovative content design also requires that VMs possess pretty good knowledge of a diverse set of PGF's play system mechanics.
The titles of topics primarily intended to assist VMs will sport the prefix "[VM]".

LIBRARY SEARCHES
LIBRARY SEARCHES
=================
One can always "ask" the Library forum's dedicated search engine to conduct some query, of course. In my opinion, this is a second best option.
Instead, I highly recommend that users activate
Table of Contents
viewtopic.php?f=100&t=527
and do "Find" searches therein with their browsers. Any "hit" allows one to immediately click on the relevant link appearing immediately below the line containing the "hit" word(s).
Due to a fundamental limitation inherent in the forum's programming, posts within a topic cannot be reshuffled. However, this is not an insurmountable obstacle; reason being, each topic sports its very own "Table of Contents" which presents the posts' links in an "organizationally respectable" order.

Not all readers possess an adequate knowledge of the English language which will enable them to read and understand the contents of this Library's posts. To this effect, an online translation service may make all the difference. I highly recommend:
https://www.deepl.com/Translator
The free version does a pretty good job.

CAPITALIZATION & ACRONYMS
CAPITALIZATION & ACRONYMS
===========================
Oftentimes, full capitalization is resorted to in order to enhance readability.
Terms which have specific meanings within the context of PGF's play system are indicated via first letter capitalization.
Terms frequently encountered within some particular post are appropriately abbreviated via the use of acronyms. This practice is specific to that particular post and, hence, the utilized acronyms are not automatically carried over to other posts.
