Newbie Thor1066 - First CC - CC25 @75%

Been playing PG2 for years. Newish to OG, and just joined site. Thought I'd try CC25 at 75% for a first effort. Will try to update in place and economically.

After getting Thor three times in a row and starting over, I got a 15 cm K39 and a 15cm L40. One last try and got a SdKfz 6/2. Don't want it, but will keep it. Sigh. At least it doesn't give me an outsized advantage like the big guns would have. Too bad I don't get this lucky on my combat rolls!

Got a recon and upgraded inf to bridging eng and other to Waffen SS. should only loose 5 pp this way. Will buy arty after deploy.

Campaign path choice
This campaign is in reality two campaigns in one campaign – Blitzkrieg! and a modified version of Greater Europe – both campaigns originally made by Craig Miller. Players can choose whichever they want to play. If you want to play Blitzkrieg! (which is the same campaign used in CC#1, #3 and #5) you have to take a TV at Dunkirk. If you instead rather play Greater Europe you will have to take a BV or a V at Dunkirk.There is NO way you can switch between the two campaigns at a later stage, as your result at Dunkirk determines which scenarios you will encounter later on. The Greater Europe path is 4-5 scenarios longer than the old Blitzkrieg! path but the difficulty level should be more or less the same. Both campaigns are strictly linear in their composition.

This campaign starts up at Madrid and will end either in England (Blitzkrieg!) or in Russia (Greater Europe). As players familiar to the campaign(s) will know, there are a LOT of standard Blitzkrieg type-scenarios in the campaign.

Thanks for the welcomes! Just finished Madrid, and faced a conundrum! Given my username, wouldn't you know it, I got a Thor for a prototype. Figured that was too much of a head start, because I'd just sell it. So, cheated and reloaded to try for a more modest proto. Got Thor again. And again! And again! Four times in row got a Thor for a prototype. Sigh.

So, will go back to beginning of scenario and try again. I like being lucky, but don't want that much of a head start. I frequently just sell everything and buy what I want, cap be damned. But, trying something different this time.

I like being lucky, but don't want that much of a head start.

I know what you mean. Sometimes it just feels strange to get such a expensive proto. I mean, sell it off and get something like additional 1500pp or 2000pp at the start of the second scenario feels just "not right" and will have a hugh impact on the following scenarios. Same with, for example, liberator leader. Its fun to play with this leader sometimes and crush the emeny, but often people change the leader or reload to not get it, because a whole campaign might become too easy just because of a single leader.

OK, thought I would overwrite each time with new results, but figure it's in a thread so won't bother those not interested.

Did OK in Ciechanow. OG version way tougher than PG2. Used to just rolling and had to advance slowly instead. Bought arty and second Pz 35(t)A after deploy.

Got a Fighter leader -- Skilled Ground Attack - meh. But, at least gets multiple defense special as base. Not sure what do buy now, but squeaked under cap with 2,999 pp (Army and pp combined).

(Edit) Decided to add arty and upgrade PSW 222 to PSW 231/8. Snow and survivability were considerations there. (End edit)

Suomusslami tough slog with my forces - Ended up having to buy a Swedish Jager near end to make sure I captured the northern VH. Lots of experience, but no leaders. Got a Pz IIIG proto, so now am very tank heavy an super light on infantry. May sell least experienced Pz 38(t)A to beef that up. Will sell emergency Jager as well. Staying under the cap not a problem right now.

(Edit) Ended up buying 4th 10.5 leFH18 and a Gebirgsjaeger with 4x4 transport. Will buy 3rd PSW 231/8 after deploy. (End edit)
(Edit2) Scratch that. Went with 3t for transport and bought recon in HQ. Not always going to be in snow and 4x4 worse than a bicycle sometimes! (End edit2)
