Not much strategy, just push forward and keep your artilleries nearby.

Unit choices
I thought about buying a rcn car and an artillery (what i usually do in this scenario), but had trouble deciding on arty, so i picked a bomber instead.
The thing about arty in this efile is: it has more range, but less ammo and firepower.
The Tac.Bombers were bought from Italy (support nation 2).
The SM offers (besides its fluffy abbreviation

) lots of speed and attack. Only ammo is a bit small.
The Ro is cheap and has 4 ammo plus lots of speed, ideal for a rcn aircraft.

After seeing how big the scenario is (and respectively how far away the VHs are) i sold a rcn plane in favour of more ground units.

With a deploy zone and SH in the west and a SH in the north i divided the core into 2 more or less equal groups, with the tank in the north (there are some aux tanks in the west).

Western core+auxes headed for the southwestern VH.
Northwestern auxes from Tuchola (11,8) had trucks, thus i sent them on the central road over Chelmno (28,18) to the southeast.
Northern core went for the eastern VH.
Also, i sent 1 of the non-motorized aux infantry to each of the starting VHs, just in case.

After reaching their goals, fast units from the southwest and east moved out to catch up with the auxes to the southeast - which were almost completely wiped out. Thus i had too few units to grab both of the airfields on the far away edges, but i still got 1 of them.

Those bridging inf again, who would have thought a unit with this low stats would be an XP hunter

And again no proto

In the previous scenario i saw that you receive prestige in the first turn, so i planned around that

Again divided the core in 2 groups. The south had 2 rcn cars, the north the Pz IV.
Airforce also started in the north (well, not exactly "started", but liberating the airfield is surprisingly fast).

Auxiliary units in the northwest are helpful around Kuhmo. Then, to avoid traffic jams and since they lost strength, i only took the arty with me.
The auxes in the center went through the forest in southeastern direction, to either attack Nurmijarvi from behind or head northeast.
Aux inf in the south was suboptimal - it eats ammo of enemy arty yes, but until core units are at least remotely near, they can't do anything. The cavalry was more interesting, in flanking the enemy in the far south.

I was expecting much worse weather, but it was overcast->snow->overcast in the first 3 turns, allowing bombers to attack and resupply. Only then it was snowing for several turns.
I kept bombers in the north, while fighters were hovering around the map center - hoping to find something to do.

In the middle to late turns i was already

that i could shoot down at least 1 fighter, but then there was again 2 turns of snow - and i had overlooked the airfield in the east-central area. In turn 10 i was then surprised that the enemy I-153 was back to 10.
Since XP is easier gained in air-to-air combat, i kamikaze-ed the fighters.
After that i realized that ihad screwed turn 10 and started to :panic that i would lose some of the many damaged core units, but all went good

With aux+core arty, the bombers and a last punch from the

Bridging inf, Repola (30,13) could be liberated and the BV achieved 1 turn early.

During deployment i saw that the Naval Transports have different speeds, with heavier equipment traveling only 3

hexes. Thus, i calculated what could get where in time and formed groups. Originally i thought about letting units sail a little, but with this kind of troop splitting i rushed all units ashore as fast as possible. After all, the scenario is 14 turns long, so why make haste

I didn't deploy:
both tanks

(airforce cannot start, but there is an airfield to capture later)

For the north i assembled a smaller commando group, consisting of a rcn car, an inf regular, the leadered pak, a leFH and the bridging inf.
The rcn car sailed an extra turn (ultimately landing north of Tangvik at (2,16)), since it couldn't find a landing spot at first.
The bridging inf took on Huggevik (13,16) and then tried to catch up with the other units.
This commando group took Bjerkvik in the far north and then circled around the bay, back down to Sagnes.

For the south i picked the leadered inf regular, remaining inf regular, "marines", other pak, remaining 2 arty and a rcn car.
They had a long march ahead to Narvik proper - and needed to refuel underway.

The naval battle was rather scary, than actually dangerous.
Still, some paint among artillery was lost during the landing operation.

The airfield could be captured in turn 12, and it was 2 turns sunny 1 turn overcast till scenario end

In retrospective, i should have upgraded the tank proto

I had a few troubles deciding what to buy, but since usually you cannot do anything wrong with more arty, and since the goals are a) far away and b) towns, i added another arty and inf.
Other units on my wishlist are 2-3 bombers and 3-4 fighters, past that no idea yet.

Deployment...i thought for a moment to set up a group around the airfield (the bridging inf could help more units to cross the Chiers river), because there is a road from Mouzon leading onto the Meuse river, making it easy to cross from "our" side.
But spreading your troops thin is rarely a good idea, so i focused on flattening Sedan and then let my larger group move out from there.

The northern group consisted of Pz IV, 2x 2-bar inf regular, a PSW 231, 2x experienced arty and the non-leadered AT gun.
After crossing the Meuse, they went for the north-western VHs.

Rest of units were deployed around Sedan, the aux rcn car joined this group (to grab flags in the center).
With the expected enemy reinforcements from the south, i didn't bother with the single flag down there, and instead went straight for the VH in the far southwest.
The Pz 38 and bridging inf were too slow to keep up with the other units, so they remaind in the area south of Sedan and grabbed flags.

In AI turn 6, an enemy rcn car recaptured Stonne (31,22), 2 turns south of Sedan.
Since i expected to need 3-4 more turns for victory, i bought an EsEs inf (best combination of defense and offense, considering Sedan is a town hex) and send it to Sedan for entrenchment.
My expectations were not met: Rethel (4,26) was "defended" by 2 weak FlaMGs, resulting in an early victory

bridging to HQ inf with all-terrain jeep (tricky. On one hand there are artillery and aircraft upgrades + purchases waiting. On the other hand, and actually, i considered upgrading to an airborne inf (example with the [R] leader: mounting a plane, flying, jumping - all in one single turn), but the abn engineers are otherwise slow and the abn "inf regular" lack power.
"HQ" units are powerful in a different way, so there's nothing wrong in picking those - but with the core still under construction, i would have prefered delaying this decision until after start of Operation Barbarossa)

Before deployment i did some number crunching and saw, that i could leave out 2-3 flags with regards to the pestige cap. Thus i decided to deviate from my usual tactics here, and instead deploy all units in the south.

The central group (using some DHs south of the Lys Canal) consisted of Pz IV, HQ inf, 2x non-leadered 10,5cm guns, the leadered inf regular, leadered rcn car, 3 XP-bar inf (incoming via road) and an AT (crossing the Lys).
All other units (the Pz II and a rcn car starting from the airfield) formed the southern group.
The only thing i did to support the northern auxes was sending the aux arty from (11,19) northwards to the other aty.

The central group went over Cassel to Dunkirk, thus bypassing the bunkers in the west (which would normally eat away precious arty ammo and inf strength).
The southern group operated in the southeastern quadrant.

The commandos on the other hand (having mountain movement, engineer and airborne abilities, and base speed of 4) would be great too with additional speed, thus i picked them. Para suggested to re-equip the [R]econ.Move inf (HQ) to engineers too - similar idea here, both unit types would be great with the added mobility, however since the HQ was already there, i decided to keep it, at least for the moment. Again no tank upgrade: i saw in the AAR, that the Pz III H arrives next scen, so i again waited

Finally

This is the third attempt at this scenario - the first two ended without a BV. After some discussion with hoza and Para, i changed purchases, upgrades and tactics (in particular: i added ground-based engineers this time).

A recon car (Battle.Intel.), both AT guns and the Pz 38 started in the north, the airborne engineer on the airfield - rest of units found a place in the main battle zone.

First turn, navy and most arty attacked enemy air defense, thus clearing a path for the airforce.
Navy mostly concentrated on enemy AD guns thereafter.

Commandos, on the eastern shore, marched into and south through the mountains, clearing the "water catchment" VH (24,22) underway (which was taken by some aux "marine" unit later) and finally joined the action in the far south.
Rest of aux "marines" and the abn engineer landed in the south of the peninsula (turn 7).
Some units (PSW 222, leadered AT and the heavily damaged arty, the 2 aux inf from the north and a mix of damaged and healthy aux units retreating from the main battle zone) defended the starting VH. I also quickly unloaded and sent the "marine" AD gun here.
Fighters and fighter-bombers hunted enemy airforce, bombers hunted enemy navy.

At first i thought "easy scenario for in between

", then i saw the short turn limits

I had a faint memory from other versions, that it is difficult to travel via the northern roads, thus i put together a fast group and sent it over the southern road to the east: 2x experienced arty, 1x leadered rcn car, Pz II and 1x commandos (with the single Airtransport).

Majority of remaining units took part in the battle of Gazala, with some units trying to sneak by in eastern direction.

A rcn car and marines needed to wait with deployment, until the first units had moved out.

Another one with tight turn limits.
I restarted once for better deployment - there are no enemy Flaks at the front

A leadered rcn car started on the single Italian flag - flank protection and spotter.
In the center i was a little bold and planted the HQ, fresh 150mm gun and a 105mm gun.
The southeast is usually not much of a problem, so i only sent a leadered rcn car, 1x marines, most-experienced 105mm gun and the armoured eng at first - in turn 2 i was confident to have enough troops in the north, so i sent the central 105mm gun southeast, just in case the enemy SH spits out more units.
In the north i deployed the rest - with my usual tactics of planting the (2x) arty closest to the front.

Later, i sent all units from the center (and parts from the north) southeast.

I just realized that i forgot buying units during scenario (i was interested in Italian SPATs).
And a little cheating: originally the proto was a

railgun @3000pp, but i decided to reload.

In the first turn most bombers helped attacking Brest-Litovsk.
I split the core in 2 more or less equal groups, with the south having the HQ inf and 60% of arty - and the north, travelling along airfields, having more bomber support.
Paras attacked the airfield in the south and then landed a second time in the east.
Since the southern airfield is the only pp-flag south of the river, i didn't bother sending more units down there - except later for XP training.

I deployed the Bridging leader and 4 guns, a leadered rcn car, Pz IV D and an engineer in the south.
With the help of arty and bombers, the tank and rcn crossed the river in turn 1.

In the north, arty and remaining airforce took care of nearby enemy arty - while rest of front units waited. Some units started on the hinterland SHs.

Again only 1 Airtransport. I sent it south first (i thought about landing on the southern Airfield and then jump a second time), but in turn 2 i sent it to the eastern SH.
Once the transport was free, i sent the other commando to the east. I planned landing in the northeast, however the AI started spawning cheap units around the eastern SH, so i dropped the cmd there too to fight against the zombie army.

An early BV was possible (BV-7 ? i forgot), but with tons of entrenched and experienced enemy infantry still on the map, i took the opportunity to grow more XP.

Since there is not much room for deployment i planted rcn cars up front and fast units, which i didn't expect to reach anywhere meaningful (like infantry, which would still be sitting in their transports) in the second line. Past that, i deployed units and aircraft piecemeal according to reconnaissance.

Auxes in the north headed for the 2 nearby minor Flags.

Around the northern SH i deployed
- 2x 5 XP-bar rcn car (1 of them leadered)
- an engineer and the HQ inf
- 2x leadered leFH, 1 each a Romanian and German 150mm gun
- Pz IV D and 38
- leadered 47mm Pak and the SdKfz 10
This group was tasked to advance to the Dnepr and then divide according to needs (i expected difficulties in the south), with still a large groupheading east to Novodugino (33,9).

The central aux group sent an infantry north to defend the northern SH. Rest of units, with the help of airforce, took and entrenched Safonovo (12,27) and Dorogobuj (14,33).

Commandos arrived at the southern airfield in turn 1.
1 was sent to the far northeast, took the airfield, and then attacked Novodugino from the rear.
The other, after i realized there is only 1 single air transport, marched on foot via Safono to the center, to take the minor Flag and airfield.

Around the southern VH i deployed
- 2x rcn car (1 leadered and the freshly bought)
- an engineer and the "marines" (and as said both commandos)
- last leadered leFH, 1 each a Romanian and German 150mm gun
- Pz IV F and III
- 47mm Pak and the FlammPz
- the Flak
They moved east and then northeast through the large southern forest area, to Vyazma (34,24).

Airforce was busy everywhere with air recon, and when weather allowed also with attacks.
An enemy KV-1 with an overzealous Overwhelming Attack leader

caused quite a party in the north until he was finally filled up with beer and brezels.

I completely underestimated potential traffic jams and the terrain difficulties in the south - by turn 4, both tanks were still around Dorogobuj, so that i decided to send 1 of them (the Pz IV F and an infantry which was also still here) north and then northeast via easier terrain and roads... in turn 6 i realized the complete futileness of tank operations in the far south, so that the Pz III rolled through the woods and joined the other units in the center.

The AI started raising a zombie army, once some units got near the SHs.

Because of difficult terrain and expected traffic jams, as well as the low XP of several units, i decided to leave them behind to defend the starting VH.

Commando group
Both commandos units marched through the northern forest to the northeastern VH. As support, i sent the Pz III, 1x HQ car, a 150mm gun and the leadered AT to Rogatschewo (27,4).

Eastern group
The Pz IV D, an eng and HQ car, 2x leFH and an AT headed for Fedoroloka (30,19).

Southern group
The Pz IV F, an eng, a rcn car, 2x 150mm gun and the Pz 38 formed the last combat group, heading south for the forest/road checkpoint (18,24).

Splitting up the groups was determined by deployment order, speed of units, available space and random chaos - but worked surprisingly well.
There were tons of Fair (or at least Overcast) weather and nearby airfields helped too. Could have been BV-2, but i noticed the larger amount of Turn Prestige, so i greedily played for it - even if it was just advancing the turns (i was too lazy chasing down the 7-10 immobile enemy inf units hidden deep in the forests).

They sailed straight south, landed, rushed southwest, scratched Kifisokhori (22,22) and attacked the 2 south-southeastern most VHs.
They had their own air support, consisting of a rcn aircraft, fighter, medium and fighter bomber.

Commando group "Eagle"
Both commandos were deployed in the rear to have enough room for the other units, so they only could start mounting planes in turn 2. Again only 1 air transport.
I calculated turns and decided that the "Aggr.Man." could walk by foot to his designation, Delphi (10,28).
The "Det.Def." commando landed near Amtissa (4,25), took it and then marched towards Delphi.
Due to traffic jams, a rcn car and the FlammPz tried to join, yet they ran into the arms of an enemy MG and with the damage they had already suffered, they were held up for a couple turns.

Rest of core units were split into 2 groups. I expected less resistance in the north (and was right in a sense), thus that group was smaller.
Some Italian auxiliary troops (navy, airforce, a handful ground units - the most interesting was the engineer) joined the core, but most formed rearguard units covering VHs.

Air force was busy everywhere.

There were some heavily overstrengthed and entrenched units here - "good" prospects for the future

Commandos started at the airfield. With 12 turns till BV and to keep all fighters free for actual combat or bomber escorts, the commandos flew east and then north, outside

of enemy spotting. They dropped in the northeast, about 7 hexes behind the airfield, to stay out of spotting. There they waited until airsupport was available.

The Italian auxes entrenched at the starting VH.

I had forgotten to check what leader the KV-2 in the north has. This lead to a shock moment, when it rolled out and "Devastating Fired" 1 of the commandos for 7 of its 9 Strength Points

BV-2 was possible, but i squeezed out every last bits of XP and Prestige.

The scenario intro didn't sound very encouraging and with the experience of the last 2 scenarios, i spyed into the AARs of others with regards to kills for Sevastopol (finding an average of 95

).
With that in mind, i decided that i add numbers to my core and roll with that instead of upgrades.

I didn't enjoy this scenario.
Tons of bunkers - many of which have Range=2 and Support Fire.
Tons of "entrenched" infantry - having twelve or eighteen strength, and in general 7-8+ entrenchment.
Tons of weak auxiliaries, which you must use if you want to achieve a BV.
Lots of enemy reinforcements appearing from out of nowhere among my troops.
In short, a very tedious scenario, which could have been dropped from the campaign for the sake of playability.

Deployed in the north:
- all "Opel" arty (3x leFH, 1x sFH) and the new 150mm M37
- HQ inf and 1x HQ car
- 1x PSW 231
- Pz IV F2 and Pz III
- StuG III and leadered 47mm Pak
- "Marines" and 1x engineer
- 1x AD
- FlammPz
Except for 3 units, all wheeled and slow units were deployed in the "west".
The mountaineers have only few Move Points, however they have Mountain Movement, so they are technically "fast" in the sense of this scenario - thus they started at the SH.

To preserve strength of core units, and considering that enemies rarely made it to the starting VH in earlier scenarios, i let all auxes participate in the battle until turn 6 or 7.
I also ignored enemies, that posed little threat (bunkers and "entrenched" inf with 0 base Move Points and sitting somewhere in the pampa) until later in the scenario, when airforce had the time to collect some XP.

In the north it is basically pushing punching the frontline forward.
In the south, i let the "Jaeger" division attack along the shore, while the "Infantry" and "Mountain" divisions took care of the south-central VH and units in the southern area.

Could have been BV-2, but with the expensive tank (and artillery

) upgrades and 1-2 fighter purchases waiting, i played for the money.

I restarted once in turn 2, because i was unhappy with my first HQ decisions.

The aux units were divided: in the north, the german infanterie and romanian pioneri (both having trucks) joined the core, slow units entrenched at the 2 western VHs.
In the south, all units joined the core.

The core was split into 2 more or less big equal groups (having most arty, tank and inf pieces) and 1 small group.
The smaller group consisted of leFH "Skilled Rcn.", Pz IV D, FlammPz, a PSW 231 from the core and from the auxiliaries Huszar and 1x Rohamutasz.
In retrospective, the IV D with "Super.Man." leader would have been much more useful in the center

The big groups did the street fighting, the smaller group took care of the 2 southern VHs.

The 2 cmds flew to the southern "island" and took care of the (at first hidden) SHs.

Many forces (including the ones in the south) made it to the eastern side of the map and took part in the final battles there.

Sweeping victory, thanks to 3x HQ units, large arty and airforce sections, and aggressive (or maybe careless

) play.

Actually, i had played Tunis, Alamein and a couple turns of Alexandria last week already. During Alexandria i suddenly realized, that i absolutely need self-propelled Flak. The available Italian models lack movement (being wheeled units), the Germans had the SdKfz 7/1, the other models lack power.

I said "had the SdKfz 7", because it disappeared sometime somewhere

Loading the HQ saves, i found it at Tunis. Since i already had bitten my back several times for failing to get more 150mm sFH37 when it was still available, the next useful SPAD arrives in August '44, and expecting at least Kursk and Normandy prior to 08/1944, i decided to go back to Tunis and properly outfit my Flak section

With the knowledge of the first playthrough still good, i re-arranged my units a little compared to the first run, but not much.

In the north i executed an elastic defense: let enemies attack, rush tanks out for overruning, get back to the defense line, repeat.
At Mateur (20,9) (which is flanked by rivers, hills and mountains, making enemy as well as own attacks difficult) i defended the position, to let the enemy units spend their momentum.
Once it was clear that the steam was gone, both groups went on the offensive and, with air support, rolled up the front quickly.

Auxiliary units at the "center line" were mostly static and on the defense. A core tank and some airforce (and a little fire support from the 170mm guns) helped out.

1x commandos flew (without fighter cover

) to the air field in the southeast. The other waited some turns, then flew to the airfield in the southwest.

In the east, the last core group slugged it out for supremacy with the enemy - since i still had an estimation of what was waiting, i went on the offensive right from the start. Artillery, airforce and navy helped to make the breakthrough.

Auxes in the south slowly moved out (to let enemy units move north to the front) and then around turn 5-6 started taking the southern flags.

Tricky in this scenario is the AI's aggressiveness, its many SHs and the large amount of Prestige it receives.
Example, a fighter (which escaped with 4 Strength) was repaired back to 11 in one turn. Or towards the end the AI was able to buy 1x fighter, 1x light tank, 3x infantry in a single turn.

22) Advance on El Alamein ~~ BV-2

2x Italian Re 2005 (i have 10 bombers plus, potentially, 2 air transports, but only 6 fighters - that's too few)

Upgrade
3x Fw 190 to Re 2005 (-4 Ammo, but better air combat and +1 Speed is a fair trade - and they cost the same = free upgrade)

The core formed a more or less coherent large group and advanced along the whole front towards the east.

At the starting VHs i left behind auxiliary heavy artillery, tank and 2x infantry regular. Heavily damaged units later retreated to here.
Rest of aux units plus a core rcn car were sent south to the far away flags.
1x Commandos was send to the western flag (and then south by foot), the other waited a little at the starting airfield, then flew to the eastern airfield.

Artillery was selecting targets carefully due to the bad resupply options in the desert, leaving a lot of work to navy and airforce to support ground units.

With the enemy SH sitting in the map center (so to say), i rushed to the eastern VHs quickly, so that the AI couldn't accumulate too much Prestige after taking the SH.
This meant little resupplying of units (example, the 170mm guns only fired once at the last VH before running out of ammo) and consecutively a little sweating "how to conquer fast", but with most (ground) units still above 7-8 strength, i simply hammered away...just to see the VH defender survive with 1 Strength

OTOH, the 2 flags in the far south were also still not captured, so it wasn't too bad.

44 Luftwaffen (infantry)

Auxiliary guastatori, bersaglieri, Sem 105 and AB-41 joined the core group heading southeast. The M14 was send south(west) to the enemy airfield. Rest of Italian auxes had too low speed or fuel, so i planted them at the starting VHs.

A smaller core group (with above mentioned auxes) traveled southeast and then back north again, for the hinterland flags. 2 units (core 47mm Pak, aux CCNN) split up and took the far away southeastern flags.
The bigger group went through Alexandria to Al Muaddiyah.

1x commando helped taking the southwestern airfield (by airtransport), then jumped another time near Ezbet Tell (20,20). The other commando helped taking the flags in the east.

With the high entrenchment levels on enemy units, i started spamming recon aircraft (each attack reduces entrenchment by 1 (down Terrain base) and adds to the "being hit" counter, further reducing Effective Defense - and rcn aircraft (more precisely: aircraft with [R] ability) can fly away again to make room for more aircraft).
