I see reference to deleting unwanted leaders but have no idea how to do that. I’m currently playing though atomic weltkrieg and can’t seem to find anywhere to delete a leader.

Just mark the unit and press Ctrl-X. It works both on map and in headquarters.

Forgot to welcome you to OG and to this forum. Getting old You should note that removing leaders doesn't work on most e-files. To my knowledge it's only possible for Atomic, GUS and GUS_WX. If it's not possible, you can always remove them using the Open Suite. GUS and GUS_WX is not a part of the download at open-general.com, but you'll find them at https://www.opengeneral.pl/. Many good campaigns there.

Most efiles have long been abandonend and new features like the 'deleting leaders' can not be added because the efile designers actively have to add features like this by editing the efile's cfg files.
As edmund says, stuff like this can always be edited in Suite if needed. Just load your savegame and check it out.
