Current scenario: For the Emperor
Going into the scenario i expected a tough battle and had no idea what to buy. I expected a strong enemy air force and bought 2 ADs. Though i later learned that they had no impact on the outcome of the scenario. One of them even didn't hit the enemy a single time.
I also made the mistake that i didn't use the 1200pp i collected throughout the battle for refits. My usual strict no-refit-policy made sure, that i overlooked the prestige and didn't even think about refits a single time
Maybe it would have made things a little easier. Anyway, lets start the Battle:
While the US forces had already established beachheads in the east and southwest, i deployed my core units in two groups. I then builded two defence positions and tried to withstand the enemy attacks. The AI landed more units at the shores while i was only able to damage few enemy naval transports at the entrance to the large Tokyo Bay. The enemy air force was very strong and after half of the turns my planes were to damaged to continue fighting. I lost all aux planes and a core bomber
In the west i had no problems to stop the enemy attack, but in the east the fighting took much longer. The US had landed a group of strong tanks and mechanized units on the southern part of the eastern peninsula. They drove to the north and clashed into my lines around the eastern airfield. Things got worse when US paratroopers appeared in the east and in my back. The paratroopers attacked my northern airfield and were able to capture my VH/SH and defend it for some turns. Eventually i was able to wear the paratroopers down and recaptured the VH.
At the start of the scneario i had some aux forces in the southeast and tried to hide them in the woods and mountains of the eastern peninsula. I was only able to save 3 of them and lost all the others to naval support fire. In the later turns a aux battleship and submarine appeared and i was able to sink the enemy cruiser (ar was it a battleship?). Then i shelled the southern VH with my battleship and with a destroyer.
In the later turns i also tried to disperse my units and keep them away from my own VHs to make it harder for the enemy to find and bomb my units with its planes
Meanwhile i had repelled the enemy attacks and marched out to capture both beachhead VHs in the southwest and east.
In the south i cleared the VH by naval bombardment and sent a damaged aux unit to capture the VH and made a very lucky last turn tactical victory.
