1. OpenIntro.mp3 not starts to play when launch the game (no OpenIntro.avi, but I thought OpenIntro.mp3 is the default music played in the main menu)... May I missed something here?
Yes, as long as you have everything set up correctly.
You must have "Play Music" enabled and the volume set.
"Default Music" must be set to the desired song - OpenIntro.mp3 (physically available in the selected directory).

I had a VH and the AI had a VH, the AI sure not had both! Both VHs are set as VH for both sides (because the aggressive + fearless AI units to know where to head). Is it an AI 3.0 related issue? If yes, I switch back to 2.0.
It is difficult to say without having a file to test, but I'd say that is is not related to AI version.

Hi Luis!

I am a bit dumb, sure now...
I mystyped the filename OpenInto so when the executable tried to play OpenIntro it found nothing... Fixed the typo, it works now!

As for the scenario-trouble... When enemy turn starts the info window (side, current turn and suchs) says to get any flags. And really, whatever the AI takes what is mine (normal flag hex, supply hex or VH) it triggers automatic victory for the AI. I saw no option about that in the Suite. Not sure if an outer cfg file cause this... Would check all nevertheless.

Suite v5.0.70.1
Executable v0.93.2.1

This pairing worked perfectly well so far. All scenarios I created for the previous (now suspended, WiP) e-file worked perfectly. This new e-file I started creating at May drop me the hex-seize trouble in all scenarios.
For worst case scenario: What are the required files for you to examine the source of troubles? I not wish to upload and share the whole e-file as it is huge now. I always clean up unused and unnecessary files after finished an e-file...

Does the player hold any VHs at the scenario start that the AI also must capture/own? If not, the scenario is basically "won" already for the AI and it wins by taking any flagged hex.
So the player needs to hold a VH at scenario start that is also checked for AI in suite.

There is also another technical solution. In case you don't want the player to visiually hold any VH at scenario start (and you don't want to use the 'hold X VHs for a win" victory condition) you can create a invisible VH, without a flag in a corner of the map somewhere. For example, if the scenario is on land you create a ocean hex with a VH, owned by the player, checked for both sides, no flag, and nobody will ever notice in the game. It is important that the AI can not enter the hex with a unit by accident.

Hi all, luckily this last week I got enough free time to work in OG code :banana

I have already fixed these issues:
  • Undeployed unit selected in HQ was showing up in Strategic Map
  • units escaped through EH hex, was not carried to next HQ
  • Game crashed after buying an infantry unit and then switching to other class
But, I started working in a personal tool I've wished for a long time, although I didn't get the time to implement.

Since bigger maps are used more frequently, I miss the possibility to set bookmarks positions on the map, allowing me to jump quickly to certain hex positions where some actions should be checked and is somehow easy to forget going to their position, as when reinforces are a bit far away from main actions and so.

The idea is to allow setting up some hex bookmarks, surely 9 (from #0 to #9) using a hotkey combo (say Ctrl+Digit) to define/redefine and another combo (say Alt+Digit) to jump in the map to a that position.
Those bookmarks would be stored within the saved-game so you can set once and redefine whenever you need along the scenario.

What do you think about this ? ... would this be useful / nice ?

That's some great new Luis :banana :banana Thank you very much :notworthy :notworthy

As for the proposed new bookmark feature, I don't see myself using it since I am happy with fast scrolling, using [Ctrl]. But I can imagine it could be useful on 5K maps where you have to scroll a lot more.
I can also imagine it could be useful if you have more than one isolated battle zones, so you can quickly switch between them using the bookmarks. But that depends on the scenario.

OpenGeneral and OpenSuite updated to version 25.08.21

Fixing:
  • Undeployed unit selected in HQ was showing up in Strategic Map
  • Units escaped through an EH hex, was not carried to next HQ
  • Game crashed after buying an infantry unit and then switching to other class
I've included also the tool to bookmark hex positions, but it is not accessible at the moment as nobody seems interested.

Thank you for your reply.
The game crashed after buying an infantry unit and then switching to another class.
I tested it and it works fine.

I have a question: the game automatically downloads maps if they're missing. Does the current Suite also have this option?

No, Suite doesn't download automatically missing maps when opening a scenario or save game, you need to use the "Check files" View (the initial view) to check missing maps in the campaigns or scenarios belonging to the efile selected, and download any.

Hello Luis :howdy

I found out, when you press [Ctrl]+[x] to remove a leader, fast scrolling will be permanently enabled. The shortcut can even be used when no unit is selected to enable fast scrolling. Then, when pressing only [Ctrl] scrolling goes back into slow/standard mode.
Can you reproduce this?

I only use a few shortcuts...
Shortcuts are a good thing, but in the age of Windows, are all of them used?

Furthermore, they often conflict with other programs - for example, video recording... or with sound controls --> no, I don't want the changes.

Yes, Randowe is right - [Ctrl]+[x] (does two things) and [Ctrl] is a hidden function.

I use h to show hexes only when i want to check things, i use tab to show what enemy view, i also use ctrl + r to see the range of enemy unit. I use ctrl + shift to set the airplane movement. And i use ctrl + x to delete leaders.
I never saw what randowe said.

What I use most is fast scrolling, by keeping [Ctrl] pressed and then move the mouse. It is actually very useful on bigger maps, 3K and above. Maybe this can be added to the list of hotkeys in the game?

But this is unrelated to my find that [Ctrl] + [x] deletes a leader but also enables fast scrolling permanently. Maybe it is even a good feature to scroll faster permanently? It ends when you press [Ctrl] one time.

The problem arises because the <Ctrl> key is saved when pressing it and reset when it is up again, but when the action pops up a dialog asking for something, the <Ctrl> key is not released and scrolling keeps fast until you hit <Ctrl> down+up again.
For example, it happens also when you use <Ctrl+S>
That is why <Ctrl+R> doesn't turn scrolling fast, because the action required, doesn't affect the keyboard.
Maybe it is even a good feature to scroll faster permanently? It ends when you press [Ctrl] one time.
:yes It is actually an old issue (at least it happens since 0.93.5.RC as far as I've tested) but it is so easy to recover pressing it again, that I agree that maybe it could remain as a "known side effect".

What do you think ?

Hi,

Scenario title is missing after editing a scenario. I edited in older version of OpenSuite. Then I updated to the newest version 25.09.01.0 and tried to fix it.
OG in the newest - corresponding version doesn't show the scenario title.
Scenario file for an analyze send to Luis.

Thanks for sample file, that helped really. I moved the post here, because it was really an OG issue, not a Suite issue

Tomorrow will be available OG version 25.09.06.0 fixing this issue.
A Matching Suite version with no changes will be available too.
