must say this for end.... DW German state sponsored international TV is having today (in my area) show about right wing in Europe.... so they start in Rome - a birthplace of falschism! :) - with some minor party and their supporters and among them is guy having flag of Serbia among symbols and flags i don't know at all.... so is it intention to send message to eventual watchers that our flag is one of the "right-wing/falschist symbols" and should be threated as etc...

in the meantime some TV reporting on issue i mentioned showed recordings from Kosovo PM gathering before elections where young people are waving Albania's, US, Germany and Greater Albania flags (with some municipalities in Macedon, Serbia, Montenegro etc as part) so it is not same, as it is about democracy ;

but remember it is that red-blue-white (so rape as it should be just red-blue as sported allegedly by one of pre-Dandola son kings) that is falschist symbol and react if seen!! ...... :lol .... i kiss you all my vikings of sex-deviation, we should make big orgy..... but just we included. :yes ... so much for pub theme, not my special interest, but i did offer much more substantial and asked for help, so i'm not sure if guy paying his guard with gold is better than some other taking kids from others for imperial guard, talking cultural differences........

...was reading through something and what is that organisation, really first time here but we are not memeber state in Ep anyway etc... know some things as most of us even with idiotic approach to politics (not sin per se even i don't care muchabout political groupings and activis/taking part but know more than average maybe etc) - for example i know Venetian falscist :) Le Pen family :) etc. but never heard for those details....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alliance_ ... nd_Freedom

so short, reallyshort and many subjects are deeply philosophical in every society, but short to the max... first noticeable thing is that article states giving "Serbian nationalists"... even "nationalist" is deeply controversial and abused subject to start with it, without need for any widening. so some use it as own monopoly and under own interpretations etc. so there could be "pro-western" (in sense of political institutions, rights to citizens etc) Serb nationalist and not only monopolized "pro-Russian" as they claim, for unimportant and btw example... and we had more than few of such nationalists through history, probably since meds ;)

second, ultra short is interesting how historically the peak of "European right wing" (in mid of XX c) was generally "anti-Serb" (at least vocally) and supported virtually every faction/nation around us, to extent it lead to genocides, including by occupiers.... all known things no need to waste words there, but there is also some minor trickery inthere as historically both falschism and nazi Germany were - at least mildly you'd agree ;) - anti-Serb and often armed various factions here and exercised tough occupational policy with instances now "voted" genocide in serbia itself etc etc. so either that rught wing wasn't true or this today isn't :) to saya bit humoristically...

third, really not every "feeling" or "sensibility" or "nationalistic like wordings" is same around continent as Europe was never same nor united, clear... so - maximally short againevery subject deserves book per se - Greek and Serb nationalists co-oped well in say begining of XX c, while their cause was almost unimportant (to say with not right choice of words) or better "not so important" for Scottish, English or Swedish nationalist, nor they had ever same enemies through history.... think this is alsomore-less understood and clear, but just for talks and repetition.... so - small summarum - we don't "dislike" (for pure example while we have solid relations in moment) Turks because they are Turks, but because "feelings" (which is truth) that they ruined our state which had potential, ruled harshly often for centuries etc etc. while in Scotland (example) it is someone else and similar... similar is (often expressed) anti-islamic sentiment, not because we are "racist" and this or that, it was historical runination of our temples and their transformation into mosques etc etc etc.....

and last thing, minor but interesting if you never heard, from article i noticed is that it mentions "solid relations" with pro-Iranian Hezbollah, alleged.... now, if you never heard Hezbo(a)llah :) was one of few/only "well known" or high profile (terror or not?)) organisations that allegedly participated in Bosnian was of course on known side.... some say they came "to kill a little Serbs" some say "to defend islam and thse they consider close" etc. on preference and is really minor thing but is noticeable and interesting for now history lovers - so strange for Serbs to "like Hezbollah" generally etc.

so generally momopolisation, fake concepts, missunderstandings etc and few interesting minor things... first time hear for "AFP" while know those mentioned above and not all are so bad at all etc. to me it is all pub subjects and if you dislike meds (most beautiful and least genocidal era)) drop some line if you have idea where are we going as continent and will any of extreme and catastrophic views really happen - islamic state with turning back and female slavery ) or some new right wingers and many conflicts? ; or generally what you find fun ot illogical.......... and whom you vote? :) last one, i really hope my pals signor Zaia and monsignor Salvini are not that ultra right wing :lol kinda like them ....and Venetia and Scotland even ruled by commies or suicidal capital is same to me - should be indie :)

"AFP" :lol but OK they are falschist as well, French like French :)

i'm, always say, more person of some "romantic ideals" and principles above "interests" and some clear, visible profit to act upon, for example... so not only better looking and smarter than many of your, my principessa, but as well.... seriously what motivates me often is more some fairness and principle, while interest is not even seen... so, example, we have some ties with Scotland (probably since Miluten and Philip)) and somehow, even without some "interest" at least not known to me without looking at all papers and possibilities, it is fairness in me that says it would be "repay" if we are among first to recognize it, when it decides. some dude that is something like one of influencers of SNP was our state medal recipient, maybe even (don't know details of newer history) veteran of Macedon front etc. Part of city where biggest temple is was once owned by Scot, general Scot was here, nurses etc.... similar is with Vinegia as said many times, we together created little Urosio thatset foundations of today's most relevant state on continent, realistically...... etc.

history is not only detective discipline but also philosophical one.... smart people are not looking at it to see "tho whom to revenge or hate" but (take meds above all) what was really truth and what is really hidden, and many was.... so take HIM and his (those were not just churches or temples as i said they were tombs) tomb - it was targeted not because of "historical importance" - it was possibly because of many secrets it had in it and who man really was... luckily few docs survived and knowledge of citizenship, which was rarely, rarely awarded esp. to no-Italians.... but just one small detail, not all nor dominant - possibly in architecture and original, ruined details and decorations it had answer why Miluten was "holy" what artefacts they had etc and role in events...

so, generally from politics to history - there are hills of papers, books and interpretations - but there is also logic and brain... so other minor "cute" thing how pornokrats are making (very few and almost non present but i seen) porno how "Turks should rape Serbs" inspired by some porno from across Atlantic where for "blacks it is reparation for white slavery" - simply there is big brain error in minor (but socio mentionable) example ;) ...as historical "niggas" until some 1815 were we etc. not Turks.

and so on, glad DW brought it up, one of many great subjects continetally.... as said, even on that i'm anti-globalist in sense that we equalize unequlizable things and present our symbols as some global, even less some of our figures and events.... so Drina wasn't "anti-globalist" march it was march of victorius army in one "minor" battle (for continent but big for country 10x and more smaller than France) and idea was creation of bigger state under our dominance, mainly aiming people of similar languages etc both we and Austria though used eachothers for own interest when needed before etc.... since mentioned - for those "anti-racists" and black loving among you - ironically troops that liberated Serbia in 1918 had some percentage (not majority) of black troops, under French service of course, not Austria ; ....but we are not going into other extreme - lets make Serbia country with black majority etc ..... :lol just saying that some blacks maybe catched some bullet in some village etc. one thing is saying things historically, the other making it policy

so also those "copying" anything should first look at reality - i don't know how it is done in London, but let's start first with idea that this contry sunk deep, needless wars when many had not, one of the 15 poorest in continent not richest and where people leave in great numbers annually etc etc. always impression that even retarded birds on tree branches know many things i say, but obviously sometimes they do not...... our similarity with America is only that we are among most powerful.... and fight Heznollah ocassionally..... etc.... :)

always join, interested in some younger views - are you gonna convert for 13 wives or becuase it is best social model......... :lol ...or you vote Salvini becuase you think it should be indie north or just because Rome is full of falshcists? :) ....think i explained our stands max shortened in just few posts so that solved, we must because we are behind it all!! - but generally watch shows and memorize well "symbols of falschism" and that red-blue aqiulas......... :)

wanted shortly for lovers to say (while talking from head and not with deep knowledge of all papers there) what in practice meant citizenship to Dushan and family probably kind of "outside the walls citizenship" etc... it meant in theory, while we don't know particular cases of use, that our king had protection for example if he ordered some ship to sail... if anyone would confiscate or attack it, and it was his - it would mean "touching Venetian citizen ship" in theory... or army under direct hand of Dushan etc. theoretically as from head.... or later George example, werent purely honorary titles "outside the walls" etc...... almost like our to doctor Eco - as in practice he said that French are bad :)

....so little Urosh I, so we are talking "Rascian king" and son of Dandola and not earlier rulers without king titles, so little and cute that he was known as "Rugged one" among nobles :lol we are all guessing due to personality (as in our language it is not same as English and is often more about tough person) but might be size. lovely, as his maternal family sounding :) ....and want to repeat - while myth mainly concentrate on Miluten "the French bastard" just due to Byzantine propaganda and he wasn't loved there - even worst case of "pedo" than him ; ....people don't understand it is all mind games in time, was way to attack someone and for Urosh it is not so known becuase he wasn't in focus of Byzantines.... what is some point? it is not true in either example as i see - for Miluten it was convinent as Byzantines themselves gave him hand of girl (which was practice, moving or not but didn't mean "bed") just for the reason and later made story so looks like intent as wife that Miluten wanted to marry from Byzantines refused, however in Urosh case it is, what is repeat, two scenarios - either Helen guessed age of birth is wrong, as almost all regarding identity so likely as all, or as suggested - and events look like - Dragutin wasn't her son at all..... makes sense by events and not narratives, as SU II is Miluten title-name, he escorts Helen and southern regions are with him etc etc.

without we knowing details and can only speculate, simply they do not do it openly if they did and princesses always had entourage and own nation surroundings/company... etc. Miluten was king of highest political-intellectual skill (we are talking for times) with Dushan - in sense that sailed through uneasy waters and went without penalities even Venetians gained )) and similar.... since it is in Byzant myth open, it makes diplomatic incident instantly, if you get it.... so very likeable story, but in one case maybe intent in second pure mix of years or identities ; ....when Miluten was born Helen was (by wrong year maybe) 19-20, Urosh arounf say 30 etc.... but "blinding son" is even above and it is by no Byzant or externals - but by son himself :) cute, to "holy" :)

btw Anna story is so strange and raised objective suspicion when marriage really happened, and like in previous cases sources are questionable and just stories.... see what worried me (not so much) and some Italian historians - if Enrico lived 150 :) (ok was old in any version) really Anna should be very mature by stated marriage date... she surely wasn't girl and lived 30 years past by sources, surely younger but it means nothing as she could be 30 to live 30+ years past king... but it was rare marriage date, usually younger brides. but there are few cases in history, esp. in Italy.... but if she was teen, somehow grandads age is too advanced for practice, as her father is not known for other kids and marriages etc etc. so you get it, generally there is some matemathics and case for detection.... but generally not important...... some samll point, sexual behavior and attack onsons, fathers often some "tool of battle", with religious backgrounds, biblical as well etc. so not taken as stated. Regarding HIM and father, he imprisoned "dear papa" as anyone normal would do after raising army twice against him :) but the rest and death is story - "with bare hands?" :) etc. many died soon after sons rebellions, including mentoined Urosh ;) so even practice and even least important of cases in father-son relations even if they were eliminated.... simply, you do those things in series - Miluten would get rid of Draguten (fell from horse again, now in Greece)) or Dushan of his half-brother to who he given title and lands in deep south :)

love the stories and calculations, however in practice if you go Venice, you can always impress with some local story they maybe do not know much, but is touching most sounding last name etc. ....and you always say - "we know, our agents, we were behind it" :) ..........but those masks.... surely can't be true, just joke..... and Anna looks, it is killing me........ esp. if it was late marriage.... but beauty, no discussions.

all for some life, no trouble for me to add something, just trying to maybe make it clearer while none has definitive answers on medieval questions (guess Anna photo would clear many things) but even if you shyly just read my principessa, i'm happy and satisfied )

however... if you are interested, while i said principessa-queen age is not important that much (while she as person was) something else is at stake here and is relating one famous event "global" of the time (quasi, so did it disturb England or Sweden much etc) and why we "rise eyebrows" at all and why i say "it was clear triangle" from which we picked both future queens from both major participants, plus (possibly or surely, Dandolo factor is important as they were "at odds" and queen was D) crown etc.

simply too tired now to make it longer, maybe some other time or not becuase it is sweeter to be without explains - so i just give this short article as example

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raniero_Dandolo

Italian have more details etc, but nothing substantial regarding years as it would be included in Eng version if there si consensus or knowledge...... so as seen good question is [WHEN?] :) and whenever articles has such questions and many unknowns, clearly sometihing is broken "in chain" or "njam, njam (as we say) pass the salt" :) (but leave most for Colonnas)) tasty docs etc... if you get it and it is son of such prominent figure and no year of birth just some "fl."-es of some office holdings.... i think i'll not even come back to do it longer, something i told before on events and so on.... one republic in sea of monarchies, one not yet monarchy and one that lost "old glory" in moment (if Charli was glory at all)) often in debt around Paris before another inflation and transiting to Gaulish ) etc. but at moment deed some murky things and even impressive :)

"procurator" was even without "vice-doge" addition almost second most important position, so mix with years, how old she was and all is interesting and why we (including some Italian historians as said) stopped there for a moment and said "hey, wait a moment...." etc. was our father in law actually most important figure due to Enrico's old age (if trustable) and so on.... generally, who cares after 821 years and even city is not fun anymore with Turks ) but for lovers fun, interesting theme.... hope you all get something out of it while article is short but just because.... even if importance is low today, agin hats off to our rulers then, papers or not. dribling, and it took only 100 years from birth of Urosh to peak etc..... even cute how things started to heat in "triangle", then papal slap, then laws and Venice into slavery i.e. some infights ) ....but as said not important today, but who can't like or laugh at least if likes subjects, maybe not indeed so "global" but at least for 3 of us, plus Greeks is fun........ alsolike how Pierre Thomas described some figurative "end of era" - "Dushan is dishonest and geopolitical situation complex" ) while "i failed in Byzant, to sign their submission" :) etc....... generally i maybe widened again, but generally hope you get my point and focus in why some near years are doubted by mu/us and some Italian historians etc..... French one, in great speculation but not fantastic BS, went even further to relate "holy Louis" and "our holy" etc... all liked by me and approved, but not important, maybe we profit someday with some nice monument....

...generally not doing longer versions as it is good enough ) but what i like is that few foreign figures related to us (probably continental thing due to years mix and sources) had clear cases of vampirism :) so Raniero is one of them, died on Crete but continued office jobs until 1242, no trouble :) as well as Michael VIII (that's Byzantine emperor who forgot) who died in some years of Miluten's actions, but continued activity and years later even wrote autobiography, haha.... etc. think again it is continental thing as i don't know all stories, but cute on some our examples

also is curious case of our king who by version lived 17 (by some 14 etc) without queen after separating Greek wife Angelina ) etc. why would he after so many time marry again etc..... so generally, from our side, one of speculations (Italian historians included) is that they married (Anna and him, and mind she would still be mature then)) much before and close to divorce with "Angelina", when even Emeric was alive, as well as Enrico, as well as his brother Vukan maybe.... after the fall of Constant civil war in Serbia begins among brothers (his brother is married to wife from current pope family then mind, who condemned Enrico/Raniero and all) and Stefan and Anna win, being crowned soon after etc..... hard to prove and is speculation, but logical and possible one, i say not so because our events but for puzzle of continental events and were we already "famous and influential" in Italy before those dates etc. which was true, as Roman nobility would not probably marry Nemanja's sonif wasn't case etc.... so considerable even though just version and proposition.......... what is interesting, unrelated to direct events, and kinda even Pierre's wording and approach showes is that through whole history of time orthodox church of Serbia was "treated differently" and why never was some crusader action and similar even when (kinda but unproved) Miluten or Dushan openly slapped them :) ....reson is maybe due to feeling that it is "cooperative" or "dual schismatics" i.e. "they separated from both us and them" etc. and will reconsider and similar, not to mention many times repeated ties in Rome... so interesting subject, not related to just early XIII... as i said humpristically from our side (our rulers) probably maybe "we don't care much about each" it's "thord way" or similar interpret....

something totally different - i missed when i talked about Volsci and Tullii to mention minor thing... so pronunciation of that name -ski is good example (something i touched but is minor) of how maybe Kesar or some Latin would say, or what was original sounding of our state in the west (or should have been) so Raskia and Raskiani... for details but minor

or better said Raskii or even better Rasii as "Raskiani" is not in spirit of old Latin ;)

people don't understand that regions Serbs controlled esp. later (and esp. in 1350 with Pella and Olimpus)) were - as i talked extensively regarding Roman tie and our possible name and all - so full of history and esp. in times of religious domination and subjects, due to (for example) both Constantine and Licinius having tie with some our regions and similar... and our elites knew a lot about it (plus who knows who they were and mixed with or combined) so generally there was no need "Venice or even whole Italy" to bring any influence as they were already present, as well as knowledge about older events (even incredible word forms closer to Latin, not present in Italy even anymore etc)..... so in discourse of previous subject and since mentioned (and last) while it is alleged and possible interesting is that claim by Nemanja and his decend from Licinius. btw, who doesn't know he was Roman official and Const. co-emperor and rival from whom C. even took Byzantium and renamed etc. etc. so maybe in our elites idea existed for some time of "usurpers" there and similar plans as some myth or destiny, for example.... so you get it what i'm aiming at and with comical lines about "our agents Ds" etc.

lovely subject, more than lovely and nothing to be ashamed of as it was time and place and is old history and all super cool and i think only makes our elites "up in charts", not down etc.... so generally where i see also some "love" from French and Italians in the times.....(and dislike from Greeks haha) all said to help you better understand the era only I and doctor Eco hold "in little finger" :) ...as said many times, dispite it classification, Serbo-Croat and esp. Serb ekaviandialect has some forms and changes closest to old Latin forms, had even more once... regarding subject of last few posts of course there would be place for Greek sisters in our society - better as slaves for international markets, and the rest as "sklavi" to stay in region with us :lol lovely subjects no sarcasm, and no possibility is out of question (not meaning last sentence))

change of subject and talking about "sack ofs..." ;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Licinius

interesting article, picture way. bust/head in Vienna, medallion in Paris and silver plates in London :) and our dude ).... alright at least Brits admit where it's from and it is all nice and all but - return )

something else, while this is/was reality not only touching us (guess for example that they are in London since some early XX c etc)* and who knows what we once possessed, interesting is how for man who went through "erase from memory" and about who most sources are from Constantine dominated times (guess as obvious) it is recorded how "he killed families of ex-tetrarchs" (i.e. ordered) ;) .....look i'm not saying he wasn't and is "minor" who did it compared to all - but just saying how we "learn" history, often based on biased or propagandistic sources etc. in speculation it could be "joint action" of both Constantine and him for example, not only his order as consequently bot strenghtened themselves as co-emperors etc... while Licinius showed tendencies to again share power etc. And he was too close and friend of Galerius to be "such bastard" as lines indicate etc. I say minor thing...

btw, most we know about Stefan Nemanja is from his son and king and his "vita" of father as said and for example, and he was deeply involved and "party in events" so whole idea (minor example) that father left him throne might be untrue, minor thing etc.... regarding Licinius and his great-grand-great....-son Nemanja, purely for readers, our ruler named sons as Stefan (which was name present maybe in generations in family, some say that even Nemanio's guessed father was known under the name etc) and "pagan" Vukan (oldest in fact) and Rastko, youngest... for detail..... also, btw detail i liked the most is how Nemanja was hiding in "kelias" during some not so successful camps, hence my idea of we hiding in them since Dio etc. and so on

for end, while i was talking events only including French and Italians (or dominantly Vinegians), of course we impressed also Germans, some their emperors, Spanish etc etc. generally maybe there was (except my lines on church) indeed that consensus of ancient status, almost needless to mention in sources, confirmed by Greeks i.e. Byzantines "Triballorum et Serborum" etc, Servian wall of Rome etc, not to be boring repeat

say something, principessa.

* funny thought to my mind about "Flavia Felix" coins "minted in London in III c" they have....were they really "minted there" or....... :lol Italians comics once had some funny depiction of "British sir" but kinda grotesque... however Brits suposedly have sense of humor

looking at something related still, maps, appreciate there is sometimes some Italian one included etc. though this strangely (title is "empire at Const. death" who can't handle language) doesn't include Serdica among marked towns, even C. considered it, along also Sirmium etc. as new capital before Vizantion was chosen... but they renamed it alright :) though it would be much easier for HIM to capture it if it was chosen, or Sirmium :)

anyway, must have been pretty awful to leave in places like Rome or London or somwhere in Spain during our old empire, let alone and imagine how life looked at places like Singidunum or Viminatium (Vindbona, Budapestumanus)) take any on that line, esp. since loss of Dacia again etc. close to parts (whichis also today in our country and Hungary) that any Romans, classical or late never even conquered, with that "Iazyges" etc. Esp. must have been tough life for females ; ....so like how they marked some areas (that's Italian alright, i recognize) as "Diablo's dam/wall/etc" and... well that's Romanian (and word we also use) "brazd" (similar to "shara")... not sure there what that means really "furrow of Novak".... confused. but nice subject is origin of name also might be Latin as nova- is their root, so glad they brought it up unexpectedly on map.... we had few nobles with such name in meds, most notable man who led Miluten's army (of Italians) on Jerusalem :) ....so generally might be Latin version of name..... or it is some strange Italian meaning "new frontiers or new land" so not name at all, so you got free lesson :) but anyway Latin root name, while in this case maybe not relating anyone named as such :)

anyway, was hellish frontier obviously and hats off to IV FF and VII Claudia for defending it so long almost no penetrations recorded :) ...last thought, always when i look such maps, it is fun how Romania, mostly never even part of our empire is only country that preserved some name (and language, bit different than old one we used in dialect, but Romanic indeed, but wasn't part even etc)

in lack of anything substantial, just to note that case of Iazyges is good example of what Romans often faced (in contrast to Scott's depiction of fur wearing axemen etc, but those are Germanics in film, poor and undisciplined ones)) so they were famous for (Sarmatian Iazyges) wearing very heavy armor for the time, even something like "great helm" or closed, in Europe mostly in high middle ages for example, scaled body armor, animal elements and horse armor even - and armies were mostly cavalry, heavy one hence.... but not so great numbers and often fluctuated between Roman clients and invaders... but something that is in some armor sense above often Roman armor and practice, with more primitive economy and social life etc.

we were known in late meds as "heavy armored cavalry" and charges ("something Turks, Mongols never seen") but means nothing as French were as well, it was more due to avialability of equipment to our elites (and maybe some small school of mods) than some centuries long practice similar to them maybe, though various cavalry tactics existed etc.... with Scytho-Sarm tribes and languages there is few similarities, except few cases, while with Roman-Latin many, many practicies (including tombs) we can find in Roman world, plus often alliances from some inhabitants of Italy, more recorded by Byzants with Lombards etc etc. plus Roman nobility ties.... but doesn't mean that "Serb tribe body" did not incorporate various tribes (mostly often unnamed Slavs etc) but it is unproven that direct movement of Serbs was indeed from some northern parts, plus as said our and Croat (which is different case due to more sources about them, on us few to none and their dialect is more Slavic and "softer" compared to Latin sounding ekavian etc etc) tribe name doesn't fit "Slavic pattern" and names are untranslatable or (in our case) Latin sounding etc etc. could be, as talked, historical error which Greeks among first "sniffed" with some areas in Greece and Macedon named similarly etc.... generally too few linguistical forms similar to Sarmats directly.... possibility is as i said that whole 4-5 centuries later due to Slavic majority something that was originally imagined as "Servii" transformed in "Serbi" due to known tribe in the north.... even Bulgarian behavior in some earlier centiuries indicates something strange, not only that some their emperors often struggled with our defensive tactics but also calling Serb prince to be crowned emperor and similar.... doesn't matter much but in discourse often is more interesting question why so good relations with Italians than other famous things, but to round it as theme as mentioned Iazyges and their heavy cavalry was mentioned )

however subject is interesting and worth knowing more...

hope i'm not making any diplomatic incident ) but seem to remember some old story, mind it is not history just something btw, legend, how quasi some tribes in Montenegro today quasi had some practices and similar treatment of fathers of older age i.e. "killed by sons" etc. (even cliffs mentioned etc) know nothing about it and it is total consensus that Montenegrians are in no way related to Serbs, and i tend to agree and always repeat :) (haha) but just saying btw and it was country of many tribes, while story might be just legend based just on that story of Iazyges, or to make them more scary or similar, or attack by someone.... generally have no idea who launched it.... often say such legends transcend times, for example Celts or in particular Scordiscii (more related to Serbs than Montenergins)) "had habit to drink blood" :) etc..... i say again, our "royal rebellions" often including father-son armies in oppose are nothing in that sense nor cultural thing, only 3 princes rebelled in known/peak (Dragutin, Dechanski and HIM) times and reasons were of objective nature, often including presence of "rival son" with different nation wife etc. or aggressions by father (like on HIM)) and fathers weren't killed, or were but more as political threat to stability than some "culture or inability to rule" etc etc.... brothers or half-bros clashed more often, but pan-continental thing....

second "jazik" (many Slavic tribes word for "tongue" or "language" BUT except us as we say "jEzik" due to ekavianism) allegedly connected to Jazyges etc. Don't know much either but, linguistics always slippery field as said and people often see wrong connections or don't see obvious etc, but not that it is impossible in that sense.... something else i find interesting.... unlike many around us (mainly thinking Croats and Bulgars) - while discutable since when and if we are to check every doc and Miluten eka etc - but today and probably since some moment in time, Serbs call "Slavs" not with "a" but "Sloven" with "o", which maybe doesn't say anything about "slave owning practices" ) but something else i find interesting.... does that mean exactly, as word means "letters or words" that Serbs maybe distincted them as "people from who we took the letters or words" if you get it.... speculation but fell on mind since we talk "Jezikes" of Sarma etc. Could be something third and only later acception in Serb dialect, but interesting that in region and in surrounding of two mentioned bigger tribes we do not use it as "slav"... minor one..... as said always easy to speculate while very few concrete things are preserved... simply, only that, in melodic sense and word forms our is much more Graeco-Latin than most of others, that's truth... geography and Byzant doesn't help there, as actually eastern Bulgaria (closer to Byzant center) are loosing that melody and ekavianism etc etc.

so Iazyges interesting subject generally, but nothing in lingustic except that strange name.... might be just they wore "slavic ones" around the neck :) ....when it comes to other subjects i tried just to explain them objectively, unbiasedly and closest to truth, as think after so many centuries of twists and runing away from facts in modern times we should all talk openly etc, and anyone liking really science should think about them that way.... i say always, harldy would our rulers so easily even give up on Adriatics etc and "dream Macedon" if there wasn't something in that, some old myth at least.... very cool and enigmatic. (in Serbo-Bulgar relations such subject led to several hundred wars, but it is idiotism and nothing special there...Italians were smart, Rascia)) nobody is saying anything because doesn't want to be white or wants any territory, we are just interested in truth.... whatched some show in Italian tvs and catholic priest went on screen having "3 finger" small statue behind him on bookshelf :lol

let's now concentrate on that subject :) ...for lovers shortly and more for "did you know" pages

symbolically, first pope that (while gesture and 3 fingers use in forms is old, I say even relatable to Roman times and pontifexes and officials etc) explained it as use was Innocent III, so the one who maybe sent crown by theory or even if not, the "relative" of our oldest prince Vukan.... he explained it, btw, as 3 fingers use and as whole gesture from right to left on chest :) (which was old practice by allas well as Kesars caledae etc) so who really porno-schismatized is i think dubious :) almost as much as if towns in Macedon have ser- root and not bul- one :) etc.

lovely as many, hope i enriched you... almost in any formula we as some variable ; ...we are not talking religion here, we are talking history and correct interpret of it, in sense of all and our role, origin and ties... most lovely is that in our case in same family two factions clashed on something else arguably and theoretically, but more about symbolism - repeat might be ancient like many our things - and based on mutual belief that Servilia (meaning most noble ones and best looking etc) was our connection.... etc. so 3 as triangle :) ....or 3 breasts of wovelrine..... how about little Sextus principessa? :)

idk other explain or words but we rule(d) and never really "washed hands" from subjects :)

must admit i don't watch news anymore nor follow much... when i look for few seconds in any i see our minister with Lavrov, Zelenski with mister Emir of UAE, Rubio in Saudia Arabia.... generally in every picture domination or some undermocratic, corrupt etc. figures and similar, with all due respect to your bank accounts... people mostly made into trash, no matter how "high tech" or similar, even if they protes something they really do not know what they want and similar....

so i do not follow.... but like the titles or headlines for example "Kiev and EU excluded from talks about Ukraine" :) in global sense or in our state or pro-govt "Orban Victor said that Serbia is one of most successful countries in Europe" :lol

cant be reality, some show or virtual world :) ......ancient and med subject and brain engagement as hobby is such relaxation, ironically... and generally find much more love for those i'm supposed to "dislike" in them.... not even doing much modern history games so apropos "our title" and themes, admit.... so if you like any subject, pub is place to find me and hope we can enlight eachother with some nice details :yes true history is such personal relief so maybe we can help eachother

let's put "modernity" aside for moment, nothing good there now nor in perspective, if you ask me ) and not only us, bananas....

some things nd research of personal interest (as said it is all hobby) for lovers, but interested in some interaction as said amny times.... curious about all that stories (while religion is not my main field and all) and our med influence and spread that reached as seen to all to holy lands and Levant in way or another and all stories about relics in our possession etc. did some further looking into it and as i say "detective work",sometims in some collaboration...

as said since Miluten and during Dushan some stories circulate and often is mentioned our presence in regions even without some known "physical control"... maight be even from earlier times and obviously some traces could be found since Bodin etc. and his "strange" meeting with Raymond of Toulouse etc. his subsequrnt conquest of Antioch in which Bodin spent few years and all forwards, to strange ties, respect and maybe some speculative greater bonds than known, to recap...

our rulers, as said were related to some known artifcts and remains and centers like those of st. Nicholas and story about st Luke's relics once in our posession, among other things, strange frescoes like "white angel" etc (that was conspiration like even repainted)) and so on, real involvement in "templar controversy" and really many more i talked about, needing dr Eco now :) ....but lets stay on that st Luke (name and cult respected and present in both us, Croats to extent and Italians) relics that were allegedly once in our possession, intriguing story to some level, parts of it finished in Thebes (Greece, where they were initially according to sources) Padova (as we and Italians say in Veneto) and in Prague they say etc... in some coop with some knowers on int level (some digression later) there is one detail, or more than one...... first, Dushan as faras i know never spread directly to Thebes (close to Athens) but was close with his southernmost border, but some Bulgarian emperors did (his wife was Bulgar etc). Second Turks (not to say Osmans)) did not, again as far as i know) Thebes yet in times of sultan from whome allegedly George "golden fork" bought relics of Luke, Murad II ; (though there might have been some raids) so did they really have them in times of alleged "transaction" or were they already in our possession from before etc. if you get it... in any way, they finished mostly in Venice, with our involvement, but story of when they were here is dubious, so just to add for lovers and where is trick etc.

digession i mentioned is that in talks with some foreign knowers on subjects - always is laugh and as i said it many times what are we today and how country can "derogate" from some (if we all agree) "level even importance" from those times to what it is today, after few centuries of foreign (in this sense) Turkish rule... as said Turks per se are not important (but just objectivity is that they changed our course and importance drastically) and we are all, lovers of old subjects, just forced to talk it, while Turks again are not so important and we take it scientifically.... today Turks are not so big problem, nor i find them "too fanatical" nor lost case :) as i said as small digression as people always laugh when we talk some our medieval subjects, trying to approach our importance and involvement in maybe continental things and "harsh fate".... generally even if someone else (Byzant for example) re-conquered us, our involvement and trace would be much smaller and we all without some great stories and details to look through detective eyes etc

hope you like new details on st Luke, whole story and dubious details, always join thought i'm less present, but hope who likes there was something both useful and fun, educative... generally add something only sometimes if we are around. as always many subjects and just few quest for sisters Italians if ever, but not expecting..... hope those are all nice and worthy Pub subjects.

if, on the other hand, they (relics not HIM and traders)) were in Constantinople in time we talk about - it makes it even stranger as our "physical rule" was even more forts away from it than Thebes and duchy of Athens, then in various controls but non-Byzantine etc ; ...so, even if unimportant, story is for detectives of times period interesting certainly - and as many we were involved at, always dubious :) (btw, Turks also were away from Constant then, of course, to have them)

btw - so every possibility is viable as well as every is speculative in same time, including quasi official one, as well as that relics are not his at all etc. but what we had and what finished in Vinegian lands is some "Levantine origin man" they say, from fist century, so about time and place... one of speculations in circulation, beside mentioned and that maybe we got them before, maybe even during "holy king" Miluten who really pushed Byzant hard etc etc Dushan etc. is Kantakouzenos (or Cantacouzene) family whose great rival of HIM even declared himslef emperor and was maybe main reason of great animosoty as Dushan was reallyangry at him, maybe even dtermined in conquest just to get him etc. (lousely said but there was great personal animosity later).... Kantakouzenos family is originally from some regions, maybe even "Macedonian Greeks" with once strong base in Thessaloniky.... why i'm saying - as George's wife was from that family and he is allegedly man mentionined with possessing them etc.... maybe too boring details - even for me to write :) - but just for you to get picture of some relations and how that family, as said that ruled shortly Constant, could take possession of relics and how they finished here, beside George indeed having norm to buy off many intereting things from Greece, including their citizens for whome he paid ransome etc.... but as said could have been earlier, different story, official one or fake trade althogether... but generally our elite, though few sources survived, was included in some "precious trade" and for some time some our silver dinars (false, ask Vinegia)) were not only in Italy but experts say found as well in Levant and maybe north African coast for some time, shorther and not longer than century etc.

story is unimportant, but has some enigmas and possibilities... although our rulers had Dandolo blood in themselves, don't believe in some direct "sack offs" by our forces :) could be some gift maybe even during Miluten not to repeat.... not crucial, maybe even few of them existed. but generally what is interesting for us is that "detection" in lack of sources which makes period history fun - for small detail not only Vinegia, not only Kantakouzenos, not only Byzant but evev Prague with some ties with Luxemburg family (of Sigismund) are somehow related, and even George was subject of said German-Hungarian king etc etc. but i think it is older, as well as our ties with Italians and French, unimportant.... last joke, don't know about you principessa but when I mention Padova or Padua line "questa nostra riposta, questo vostro oceanico crido..." comes to mind :lol ....who followed my older post and just joking about one "Dandolo" :)

generally again, not most important story, but worth giving some relations, while our reach and some other are much more interesting, really from Raymond onwards. doesn't stop to intrigue me how come with got queens from both important players in fourth and things like that, Roman ties etc.... on all jokingly could be said that contemporary us i.e. some our chronicles that sadly did not survive or were intentionally ruined during "Phanariotes phase" maybe poked Greeks just like they often poked us so some launched line how "our rulers bought relics from Turks" while traders and originators were Byzantines in fact etc :) lovely but not important, hope i got it bit closer to you and what are possibilities - lets agree, many armies marched through Greecec of the times since XI to XV c :) think that much on it, always join if you like older subject and have some own stories...

to say also this in "packet" (that's Franch why such face)), as it is all related contrary to some own previous posts dating to Bombast hijacked thread once ) and to be clear - the more one goes into details and trying to fit med puzzle together, the more i'm closer to interprets about not only Miluten, but also HIM Dushan that indeed maybe he never did anything to "hurt French interest" (or some imagined as they never had some firm grip in some regions near to us i.e. Capets i.e. "Angevins", again quasi ones as they were just masked direct Capetians, as talked) and despite he i.e HIM :) being abviously Vinegian ally (at least he thought so) and liker, and in (almost) war with Louis of Hungary (more French in some way than Hun, like Sigi etc) - so to keep it short, closer to views that he never maybe went deep into Albania (nominally Angevine but in reality poor)) and surely and source that he prepared attack on Durazzo (like to use this name, btw) is not true and he died while probably campaigning to go east again, towards Canstant etc.... so our rulers during peak did not, despite constant tension in what i called "4th trio" of us, Vinegia and some French, go openly "anti-French" nor "anti-Avignon", like many Italians btw, including Petrarca - but in the same time probably did not like nor trust French that much, as explained.... for clear fact that, after all, he dared to ask French popes for some title etc. etc.

strangely, as known, "bloody Avignon" coincide and is paralel with our contemporary peak, so make own conclusions and there was never some "crusade" while we agev some amterial and expanded :) in the same time i maintain original thought that relations were maybe even better with previous Italian popes, Colonna one post all that etc. but generally that so-called "Babylonian captivity" wasn't so drastic nor non-beneficial to us, plus it is specualtion that both our rulers, Colonnas and maybe some Dandolo elements supported initial Philip actions etc etc. all speculative but it was one Dandolo who wear that "dog collar" apoplogetically mainly to French but also in some indirect way, to Miluten i.e. then our rulers as Miluten was dead etc etc. not to spread but all os related...

which detail is important in discourse... well, that one that Dushan and our forces tried to struggle out exactly those regions then in Catalan and Sicilian control, and they took it over after killing French present elite etc etc. so while not hurting French, he in the same time did attack Catalan possessions, but he stopped, some say after Catalans requested meeting with his representatives and guarantee that our forces will not enter duchy of Athens after taking Neopatras Catalans spread previously to etc. interesting but we don't know all details and eventual talks if they ever happened... i told we had later fame in "Spanish lands", they wore "black rascia" but that was all later, after Aragon+Castille unification etc, some our troops and miners went to Spain etc... in any way, while this is not related, direct Dushan's action against Catalans is interesting and is somehow continuation of "playin French side", maybe reason why French popes were so "weak" towards our rulers and never dared/chosen harsher actions etc. but we speculate

in any way, while all likable, to joke... our rule in Greece wasn't so long, just few decades after HIM death etc and surely mostly over after 1371... but if we ruled longer and considering how Greeks had habit to name various rules differently - i wonder would it be called "Servokratia" or "Triballokratia" or "Sklavokratia" by them :lol ...long live Nemanides, said million times skillful play - but again some our ties with Normans, Raymond and France date from times Dioclea ws main "Serb" state, fair to say :yes

as said all said one can agree with but not rule, and we are discussing and how i see it currently....

so yes, some conclusion on that subject after my "great turnaround" on theme - which btw for modern political interestents is not so important as France was long since banana :lol and country minor importance which fall to greater neighbors in a month for example :) if you like modern history but ask yourself "which France?" but seriously for medievalists subject of France (while my initial idea was to give some update on relics but we went on to this interesting one) is important, maybe even central and it is one "crown" definitively all across continent talked about then, some of us maybe even having more touch than another (and strangely due to geography and unpreserved sources we maybe had more than thought and "Rascia" was basically first country in eastern part that French elites tied to etc predating but not via conquest like Byzant etc)... so small details like names "Baldovins" even in villages are small confirmation that even maybe simple folk thought "friendly" about it etc... so in that sense great, unprovable (unless some spectacular document could be found even in conspirational mantion but we think that if was true it was secret for many) speculation by some French I support not because "it makes us important" but when you think about it and really stop for a moment there, know some deeper details - it sounds possible to scary level... while it was not mainly his idea based on it, can say that French historian knowing something but not all - was "shocked" by elements in Miluten's acts - as said from hospital buliding/foundations to that "small chapel" he added to Studenica complex (which wasn't practice of our rulers), looking to Jerusalem etc etc, "holy" nickname (already forgot all similarities but there were quite few beside) that are almost copying of Louis IX (st one)... so his idea was not BS but good detective work as i say, becuase some "unknown/masked identity" fits, but also every medievalists know that "keeping track" of every princess (and Louis had many) wasn't so important plus it made countries automatically "closer" as often those having relatives on thrones battled eachother, of course... so summa summarum, theoretically it is possible and great idea. Louis and his brother that started "Anjou" (almost as great as Frankish trick with Gauls)) were not in perfect relations nor they had same ambitions, so also is theoretically possible that younger "disliked" our rulers (to extent) just because they had tie with older and "saint" (leter not during his life and by pope both we, Sara and French killed, ironically)) and so on if you get idea why it is possible in theory, not BS at all..... finally, while France went through some "popular ruiniation" :) in XIX etc, it is fact - while story of "bells of Nostra Dama" (meaning Helen)) maybe is myth - so it is fact that in some important French castles some our battles were depicted and similar, maybe more once in some archives and that French nobility did hold our events in some regard etc. Reasons might be mentioned, support to French after Sicily, but also that small episode in Neopatras etc etc. but also maybe for many hidden tie with later (so last four kings we talk) Nemanjic's etc. so there is no myth in it, while Notre Dame maybe not true, just for other reasons... I say if HIS motivation was even in some promiles to "help French" in action against Catalans, or to look noble in their eyes, it was good one - as post events many French ladies in Thessally were really in fear after deaths of their husbands under hand of fearsome "Catalan company".... :lol digression, guess many of you know that Roger was basically German by father

finally and seriously while i did not joke, somehow when you read those events it is always same story - French, although having superior heavy cavalry somehow always end slaughtered across Europe :lol really from English whose kings are so poor that he is giving kingdom for one horse and they have only bows, to Catalans both in Iberia and even Balkans as seen, in Italy, Sicily - you name it :) ....and they were quasi some contemporary power and most famous knights, give me a break :) ...but of course it is not all and French did win few battles though, and we always hear just initial failures, but Philip "the iron" did won few wars.... against Neverlands (sounds like fairy tale) ultimately and aginst one old unarmed pope, where duke Nogaret shined :) .....joking ultimately, French are always good for it - but intimately i do think that Philips, Dushans and similar dudes idea was alright, maybe above time but they had own goals and self-love surely etc. besides when we talk about Boniface (hope he didn't rape nuns)) it was all Sarra's fault as Philip and Miluten clearly told him not to slap around but he then.... blah blah blah... :)

subjects is, also to say, deeply interesting for lovers not only of our history, but can confirm by his interest and widely something "not finished" as subject even in France and somehow two of us plus Vinegia (which defends itself by saying we don't even exist and will remain silent)) maybe most interesting, while France was "main violina" etc. Not for some political importance but medievalists like to dive into it and why is (for example) Philip so still talked, while whole things predate him and are not related to him etc. When mentioning "political importance" maybe only here in region to some extent as some around us, even highly educated historians, but our as well, continue to repeat lies and total misconceptions about our rulers etc. maybe for some "cheap political gains" as they see, but subject is scientifical and we just want truth so i appeal for millionth time that any obvious lies must stop from all sides.... so "French connection" is relaxing and some views in that sense as it is apolitical etc etc...... what i'm trying to say - it is not important if you repeat which quasi lines HIM had in some codex (original did not survive and closest copies are from decades later) and he didn't have them i say, because it is based on "source" but....

something else is more important and why i gave English Wiki page on Miluten and call it "pearl" and really is laughable and self-contradiction :) ....so, for example, if you start it with line "he is known for opposing Michael VIII union with catholics etc." even like giving it as motive of his actions... well that is lie, it is not interpretation as Miluten ruled since 1282 and only one that could oppose "Lyon conclusions" could be Dragutin ;) ...but even that is not true as "Lyon accord" and Michael VIII policy was over by the time i.e. Miluten's ascenssion etc. As already in 1281 (before Miluten again) Charles finally got "his way" and popes accepted to declare or give "green light" for Byzant action and Michael abandoned his idea and union etc. So "holy king" has nothing to do with it, it all predated him so such lines are continuation of lies about him etc. While he was most instrumental and main player in finishing Micheals rule (he was old also) and maybe arrested him at Kavala, main French player in region but it has nothing to do with religious subjects that were already finished.... Michael's alleged autobiographies might be fake and maybe written by our and French agents etc etc. we already joked effectivelly about it...

kiss kiss my horny rose :lol as said while my tone sometimes sound threatening it is not so important today but is important for lovers and simply lies about Milten and HIM must stop :yes ...glad i mentioned Charles or "Anjou", so brother and direct Capet - his page in Eng Wiki is much longer than Louis' - speaking volumes about it if you get it :) but again Charlie is not most important in it even, as plans and ideas probably date from XI c. and we joined "trio fantasticus" :) always join and hope i made it a bit clearer...

forum troubles, hope "forces of darkness" are not attacking it because of (I TOLD YOU) things you should not talk about :) so you hear it here and die not spreading it ;) really wanted to add, thanks for help

you know also what we concluded, or i but i say French opinion is helpful etc.... and it fits but only if we accept theory, of course

even biological reasons, prevented further marriage to (let's say) Dragutin or Miluten (more appropriate choice) other than some i explained of some Charles daughter for example, and he tried to spread his reach regionally... while of course there was also question that he could give one only to Stefan Urosh "the rugged" (Dandolo son) due to fact that Louis (speculatevely i repeat) gave him his so it's some age, but let's say if he could marry one to Miluten... since i already gave answer no need to waste words, but is also fits - because further marriage of some close relative of Charles to our kings would be drastic "inbreeding" almost, as it would be grandson of his brother etc. So it fits by our theory, if you missed my point why would speculatively Charles avoid giving one relative/daughter to our dynasty directly if daughter of his brother already made line there etc. and repeat he went around but not here... even more possible than dislike, as i put it few posts before. But yes it could explain rivalry as well

also might be reason why till the end there was not another marriage with French while with Venetian there was second try etc. BUT Nemanjic dynasty (and direct Capet) did not last long anyway post it and there were only two chances after Miluten, and last king didn't marry at all... so even if they wanted, there was no much chance for further... religious differences were not something to stop it as seen in cases of Juquinta, Anna and Helen etc.... since i already touched biology to say again that mix created one of tallest and most remarkable emperors in continental history, man surely around (maybe even and whole 10 above 2 meters) - as know for times, spectacular even for nobility ;) ...it seems that it had material as not only Nemanio was considered tall, but also it think Enrico was for time, not to mention eventual French main royal line etc.

btw, doesn't mean that we accepted theory about her direct origin, just giving thigs we discussed and how they perfectly fit, from political climate, French avoidance of confronting us, to ties, even things i just mentioned. While proof would be lovely, it is not even point, point is more that what we all think we know might be very different than what it was, while i think all historians from east europe to US agree that in our story "there are many holes" and enigmas and that our involvement in events could have been greater but is undocumented.... btw, always ask if you want something on it meaning whole "trio fantasticus" ), now when things became much clearer. Question is did we, Venice and France copy any of and why i intentionally mentioned myth Nemanides had as well, about Roman origin, Licinius etc etc. so maybe just we "poisoned them" :) or French (of course already having own myths so just joked) just said "look, look, this Rascians and Vinegians think similar" etc etc....

i think it is all i have to add, but lovely and super interesting subject for those liking, really glad i have something to add... always join if forum around :)

of course "Juquntas" (how could i typo you baby)) husband was catholic, forgot while saying, but unimportant....

already touched before but since i'm now close with themes - must say, if we look at it as individual and relations puzzle and forget narratives, that HIM is not clear to me in one aspect, and fell on my mind while we talk Charles and Louis and their families. So Dushan, clearly ambitious man, clearly interested in own legacy, aware of harsh times (even raging plague)) and dangers to kids etc. etc. so basically caring about own dynasty and himself - but just one, "weak" :) son, i say maybe even just one kid, so huge contrast to ambitious Charles for example ; ....while i can understand his son, not so ambitious nor self-loving etc. or despot Stefan as his time was maybe of some great pessimism, confirmed even by black armor on us :) so some avoidance of family etc. for example. But Dushan is not so clear to me in that sense, he surely felt power and ambition..... not that i blame HIM and it just tells that he wasn't man we think he was (or just bad in bed)) nor so fanatical and self-importance and female role advocate or similar, strangely many things in his story point to not so authoritarian and "imperial" figure.... from start when (story says) "he was even thinking, despite being so strong, to even turn himslef to Dechanski but advisers told him to resist" (story but is story) to later years and family etc. so enigmatic in that sense, maybe even really some "modernist" in every sense. Some speculate, to return to kids, that his wife Jelena (Bulgar) "denied him" and also disliked kids and carrying (or maybe he was not good in bed again as unique figure) but in thatcase don't see why would not he remarry easily and make more princess as was needed in uncertain time etc etc.... sowe don't know but again one son for such figure etc... again not blaming him, obviously maybe not into family things but "importance" if you get me.... great figure, whatever and knowing Petratrca is enough for some respect :) (while i AM more Dante fan, due to his political writing and brains and knowing many things, so he knew "on which side Miluten was" even then, many today don't know)

to return lastly to kids - guess that in that line of 3 "childless" rulers i mentioned economical situation wasn't factor :lol ....also was thinking about French wives, such heroines must be as their sons died so much around but French again and again "remained great power" :)

finally went through whole Charles page, not only page but all links and similar "detours" i found interesting to look at.... Charles today most known as king of Albania :)

undoubted main figure of some decades, putting st Louis in deep, deep shadow... and not only his decades but much wider time spreading "as his legacy" all up to mid-XIV for us. Maybe not so humble and too ambitious to say, but our rulers until 1355 were true continuity of his ambition for some time, to put it this way... btw, wasn't so ilogical acting nor greed in either case in "trio" as actually every player in some events spaning several centuries but esp. marked by Constant action and fall, gained much in not so material way.... OK maybe was greed in case of France :) as they were already powerful with vast lands around Paris :) but jokes aside it with all events, even if messy and chaotic realized "old ambition" (so nice article mentioned thathe was first Charlie after Charlie) and "second fall of Rome", i'm putting it poetically and not so big French gains since Charlemagne etc. Vinegia, forget materials again, gained final status and gradual growth as well as we i.e. Rascia which subsequently became (from country even in shadow of Dioclea)) kingdom and even power, regional but as seen French opened even Italy to our rulers and possibly directly tied with Capetian house and so on.... so repeated tries to stop Byzant reamergence are not ilogical in that trio (and for tiny example Venice didn't award citizenship for no reason)) but we talked it enough just want lovers to realize that much more than greed was some motivation in all 3, however might be that ideas are centuries long as talked

back to Charles, detail i liked and hats off for including... had good nose, actually not good nose it is some knowledge but often make some statements "on nose"... longish article avoids mentioning anybad relations between brothers but it has thattiny cute detail how "Louis practically sent Charles back to France" before Jerusalem visit as "Charles was gambling while Louis mourned (third) brothers death" etc :) ...like the moment in what i called "not perfect relations".... hope Louis illnes and death in Tunis were not caused by Charles sword :) ...not going too far, just small example of characters through "stories" and that "unperfect" was my proper gut choice of words.... i like, unrelated to all that, description of "gamble", generally it was for all 3 - France is France, Venice disapeared from the face of earth, and look at us now :lol

nice subject, like it very much, hopeful always someone else as well, so i insist so much in every detail and glad to share if you maybe never had deep knowledge... important is that in many theories and interpretations details fit very well, so yeah situation we had in say mid XIV is also great fit in "trio going at eachothers throats, just because Louis of Hungary was of Anjou but Dushan wasn't etc" ...and Dandolo rule fit in right about every moment, as talked... hope that i explained well in numerous posts and, who likes themes, finally can French, Serbs and Venetians worked for few centuries in some "accordance" despite clear tensions, best elegant description with fewest possible words :yes ....so XX c considered and all, really our relations with (official) France are longest in our history, without papers but in practice.... fantasticus :)

not to be boring with HIM ) i now even see Dushan's eventual asking of Hasburg princess as "little game" and "tit for tat" if that is Anglo-term, not to type it wrong in this hour :) his actions with Bosnia and in Dalmatia, not as some real interest of his, but just to make things "harder to Louis" and many details that perfectly fit... lovely and hopefully clearer.... i say again, future centuries would bring a lot of fun with renewed "wars for Italy" in which if some visible policy line would continue, we would certainly be included even as "grey eminence" )), but that is subject for "what ifs" not my field and above history... again, hope i made some nice conclusions and no our troops in Sicily :)

to say for end also... :)

for those advocates of some "own policy" by our kings or who are unsure or thinking that they used situation, simply back in those days - not even today of course :) - it didn't work that way, while it was possible in theory... esp. not when relying in big part on mercs. Take again Miluten and imagine "he was working on his own", independently... Angevins and Byzants are preparing mutual war, actually some clashes already started, "whole continent elites are watching moves", there are talks going everywhere, German states involved, Aragon and whole Spain, papacy etc. And suddenly Miluten ta-daaa walks in (taking it from Byzant not to be mistake)) in Durazzo both want and is even crucial town for them, and all say "bah, what to do mighty Rascians took it, nothing now".... or that Thesally/Neopatras thing, already recognized sovereignty of Sicilian and Aragonese crowns for example and he just take part, "friendly wrestle" etc. and they say "what to do, Rascians". etc.

simply wouldn't work, would be reaction or something, even more wouldn't even happen without some "strong backs", some support or at least ;;; by you know who... so as small conclusion and i took example of Barbara :) on something else, but to say i'm always shocked by what various historians even medievalists wrote through time and even today and it wouldn't work, or is even totally wrong, not close to times and relations etc.... same is with quasi lines of codex, Peter Thomas chronicles put it "nice" - while it wasn't maybe what he thought intimately, Dushan presents to pornokratia :) how his actions in Byzant are "defense of faith", unsucessfully... but how could he even do it in conversation if he already some 10 years prior called it "heresy" which was serious allegation and demanding action :) "hello heretic, i'm defending heresy in Byzant so you should support me...." :) wouldn't work, if you get me - minor but one of fav personal examples of "later year twisting of facts" so wasn't there, there are other real life examples to deny it ; ...from Byzantine laws. But anyway, was time of wonders and even dead figures wrote autobiographies, lalala... :) really want to stress and simply say to people, surprised by educated historians - while i do agree that it was complicated time and full of puzzles and enigmas. the end, made my points and all by now know what are some personal interests so awaiting you..... principessa? (think was good thread with a lot to learn, satisfied)

hello :)

also detail i liked is actually given in a footnote in Charles page.... always be sure to read "footnotes" sometimes (while not everything is true) they have greater details, or at least more interesting or intriguing... so remember that our noble "Altoman" page contains only in footnote probably main source of his name - "high handed" indicating some Roman statue etc. so in Charles page speculation is that he might be among older i.e. oldest of his father's sons and that his real name might be "Stephen or Stefan" ; and that he changed it later to sound more "bombastic"... why Capets avoided such name is quest for French historians but i agree might be some try to "distance" from more "Germanic" Franks and whole that "Gulash :) Provencal, Occitan etc idea" for example. While i'm not saying it is close to truth, like our example i've given from "footnote", Charles theory is bold and interesting.... "Stefan" is name all our rulers from dynasty bore as double name (also present in Hungary) of course and some say that "enigmatic" Nemanja father might have been known as "Stefan" (beside Zavida, White Urosh etc), as was he.... St Louis story also has some "missing daughter" story if i never mentioned before and actually might be later name change, while some of his oldest if not first might be that our queen in speculation talking... and so on always nice details and something "in small letters" :)

finally, why could some things remain unknown or hidden for so long and probable to remain so... take "Kavala action" for example - only one that could speak about it are Byzantines and we. If they chose to stay silent, and our sources are ruined, nobody else would write extensively... or our and French tie and so many things, Kosovo battle for us as it was "great shame" and shocking defeat )or draw but for us defeat etc) and so on.... generally must be "close to times", mentally transfer yourselves in times or have vivid imagination to see hidden links, but without BS and fiction...

btw, if interested in some details knowledge about name source came to our scientists some 10 years after finding of "Augustanus of Prima Porta" in XIX and first time open mention... it is not "theory" in fact it was his (original) name in latin "altomanus=high handed" just we omit -us like most of you, but more saying how one discovery pulled another etc. But what IS funny is that probably few knew then, looking to Italy for solutions, that what our elites ruled was full of Roman material and country with most post-peak Roman emperors births, numerous palaces and material things, jewelry probably statues etc etc. :) ...so i say, sometimes (while there are many places of presence around continent) in "trio" it was conversation or to say, considering some Roman legacy, not perifery but even "epicentre", or not to use bombastic words, place with big material evidence probably so maybe our elites ate from Licinius silver plates and used Constantine sandals, mentioning them as they were "important" for middle ages.... and not to mention some of the more iconic legions. Nor it had to be August at all, guessingly many similar figurines existed and were known to medieval people in places. but even if it was he in person as inspiration for kids name, it is as our wives were mostly from Colonna, di Segni or similar Roman nobility families so we knew very well :) ....mentioning it i.e. Colonnas and Orsini and rest, while it dates to wko-knows-when, it is sympatic story that at least openly our elites i.e. some "Nemanides" used own Roman (or Romanic) origin story whole 2 centuries before Colonnas in concrete :) ...generally, talked many times to boting level ) - might be that "Murus Servii" that surprised Italians when they, who knows when maybe during wars we had with Boris or his fathers etc, heard first time name of tribe from Greeks etc. but might be more as well or indeed origin.... have no illusions, not some "renesance" (you should all wear black!!)) and love for our old Rome fan, middle ages were much more romantic and with less slavery, corruption, tariffs and civilization, greed and comming with it :) ...yeah, and last but not least on theme of Roman structures, it hadn't to be Dalmatia or coastal regions at all as actually Danubian basin and today Serbia (and then Servilia)) interior was of high military and imperial presence and ekavian most closest to ancient Latin while (we talked but like to joke with Italians) Dalmatia and Italy itself in many cases accepted "neo-Greek" ikavian :) etc. etc.

even today would probably be laughable to our rulers what some say or how they conclude, while maybe they knew much more about all and could give us few lessons on ancient themes as well, from their kelias ;.... somehow, bit by bit some picture is visible, maybe not medievalist subjects nor directly what i like the most - said just for lovers of generally most older themes, but generally us, French and Vinegians (or wider Italians) in action was fantastic time for continent :)

btw, don't know if was ever theorized or recommended by any historians from western parts, guess almost evrything has been said at least once so why we don't have some philiosophy today, and i don't like to talk much about other's themes as seen, but as i see it one of rarely mentioned "side-effects" of Philip's removal of popes from Italy and concretely Rome (while Tuscany and Emilio-Romagna were also strong centers of papal forces) was exactly that facilitation of "renessance" in Italy, so Dante generally smart and knowledgeable, was "blind" to that fact that touches him :) ....but was complicated and maybe misunderstood at parts and maybe he often satirized rumors around than directly saying own opinion etc. But generally missed that fact.... it happened due to pure fact that removal of papacy for some time gave some space in Rome (and wider but concretely city) for voices of Colonnas and Conti and similar, which as seen not only hosted him and Petrarca but also had some ancient knowledge etc etc. Rarely spoken about "side-effect" questionable how much his intent (probably not)) but opened some space for that nobility and Sara :) ...but again probably not first to say that as everything in history probably was noticed and said before :) ....same is with our rulers, while we often concentrate on some lines and this or that, by pure fact that they were "on that side" they opened space for more "renessance" figures in Italy after "slap" :) more as previous alliances than maybe some intent as well as Philip ;

so it is not just Templars or Nogaret and his great battle ), some side effects are funny and could be indirectly given to Philip.... i often say and to note again, very is questionable what would future centuries bring in that sense, as our old alliance with Colonnas (for example) and Sara was more based on mutual readiness to oppose papacy or some factions of it and in moment sipport ghibellines as they... but with start of reformation and all, and after "Colonna-Orsini" (quasi) agreements to end contests, some of them and Conti became of course and nothing unnatural as they were in Rome, counter-reformists and followed officiallines, questionable is if our rulers would stick to that (while as some small indication Stefan and George did stick) and why i sometimes say maybe France would be some choice of some eventual Nemanjic's, if they survived etc. Speculating... always remember, we supported and financed "French papacy" not papacy in general due to expectation that they will (as they did at times) "turn the blind eye" and only when colonnas did etc. But they, while liking initial move and space they gained, less salty meals :) etc. were never fully pro-French and in moment of tensions crowned Ludwig etc etc... wanted to say something else and said it in the beginnings, rarely spoken about effect of Philip IV ;

guess many of you know, but since i mentioned, and is in OG :) ... it was based on prnuncement of some writen letters in some old times and became dialects... so what wanted to say and you all know - "kaiser" is also some strange thing and maybe similar to neo-Greeks and even east-Bulgar ajkavian etc. "kesar" and maybe he or people and elites till Traianus would say etc... same is thing with words like Paleologos vs. Palailogos, renesance vs. renaissance so i often joke with it, if you missed... EEE, often long very hear is characteristic of some "elitist Latin" and old Greek while "c" was mostly hard and "g" we used in some words only classical Latin factions would, is their invention...not "Bulgarian" or something like it and is all "neo-Greek" in forms, while linguistics i use only when interesting and to make contras to some official theories or some joke how even far Germans use neo-Greek of eastern Balkans while we purer Latin (i.e. once as today word is "cezar") if you didn't know to which region it is more native.... not my theme generally. In that sense i gave that super "legio gemina" song and how it sounded closer to our pronunciations, while some words are 100% same today we use, "dom" "procedite" "superbia" for our country in regional terms :) etc.... just we Serbs lost that cute "hard K" but luckily kept charming long "eee".

...so charming "eeeee" like in small cattle, but in dialectical sense could be said that their "ai, ai" is like dog when he twists his tail hurt :lol ....thinking and theorising further :) was it then in fact Kreeks for old one of ours, not Greeks (who as you know they call themselves Elleni or Helleni, third etc, so exonym). As it is so different to self-name and means nothing concrete, was it maybe because of lack of bigger rivers there, at least their springs, hmmmmmm.... :) ...seriously love it, makes us so ancient and minority as even whole Serbia doesn't use it, let alone whole Italy but ee rules... two are theories as said - legions and imperials in region, their elitist speech as most likely, or indeed some Dacian-Thracian-Celtic mix that made most of population which accepted it stonger than others etc, but surely with presence of Italic speakers. Since it touches once (and maybe not dominant) presence of two known Celtic tribes, Scordiscii and Serdi that once lived in regions, and they were maybe minority and recorded to still "operate" (only Scordisci) in ekavian regions during Roman conquest, maybe they just Romanized better as were minority hence such dialect etc, for example... generally there are touches with some cities in northern England (was it York as iver etc) even and their original names, Iberia and generally aren't English also some ekavians as they call country England not Angland as should be, maybe because :) ...but we are going too far and joking, however interesting fact in SE-E i.e. here, so must be legions as dominant solution....

something really else as conclusions :p and really to foreigners reading unsure why i'm looking so much at some details, little-little and mention "st Sarra" and all that - i said before, but really some of our motivations or better said ties are hard to read (it was intent wasn't it)) and we were in big minority i.e. AFAIK only country in interesting moment that had princess from family pope was during 4th, so exclusive, should have been even queen maybe by primogeniture etc. (but couple was old in time brother crowned) before Nemanio decided that younger will take throne, but things after his death turned in ever more spectacular way and Dandola became, pawing the way to unseen glory ... so it is always interesting subjects and we are doing some "brain excercises" etc. maybe not always sounding coherent, looking at Roman ties, looking at French... generally successful consipracy is the one never to be solved or completely visible, isn't it? so bravo to "trio" ....but it is just that moment and our unique situation then, to be understandable to knowing nothing foreigners, of course always is question why etc. etc. So i'm doing it, not because it is story, but just because there is no coherent story at all :) in our case and just pieces of puzzle and were rarity in many sense as said in small details.... see you in few months, with something fresh - right from turn of XII and XIII c :)

but it is worth isn't it, when you only think that "Charles of Anjou" was Stefan of Capet, enough said https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdvOtmXw35E rock'n'roll until i return )

months pass fast :p ....early shift, but seriously to add for lovers while in the mood while i do see end of this block soon, generally have something to offer even to professionals, while i'm not total amateur - so for example remembered that detail i shared with you as also "own idea" and which French historian appreciated and valued as direct reasons are unknown, except that it was winter and maybe some Venetian "blockade" so Raymond didn't took sea route like Richard of England later for example etc. but took the land route through Dalmatia and Albania later with very tough terrain, "constant fog" and various unfriendly population :) something humoristically on that later... So he liked that detail and as i see and shared with him, of direct reason maybe being just to meet Bodin, veteran of clashes with Byzantines but mainly (interesting for detail lovers) maybe to gain direct plans and some entourage for Antioch fort, where Bodin spent few years evicted, until Venetians took him out. Underlein Vinegians, as again that trio...

but interesting is detail in few lines priest-chronicler with Raymond of Toulouse gave to their meeting, without even knowing name :) of "our" king (as said not Rascian then) but he wrote that they confirmed "brotherly ties", so what to "confirm" if there was not previous contact etc but of course there was, like with Venetians... generally put and underline some details for lovers, in discourse of all i talked and was some "trio" in the making, just later stronger Rascia jumped in etc. worth thinking about.... moment i wanted to joke about is that you don't take various sources and words too seriously, while it certainly wasn't "cream of continent" in that moment, Dalmatia certainly wasn't as described, it is all part of prejudices and exaggerations... imagine if our knights had luxury to travel in thousands through France there would be clashes instantly with locals and our chronclers would write badly about uncivilized French :) ...while of course it lacked some infrastructure and something extra. Like detail from Raymond however, "they don't want to fight us, but don't want to let us without fight" iirc, not looking at any source ...to digress a bit western Europe also wasn't as some imagine, decline of Italian cities also is some testimony of it all etc. So don't take every account as 100% realistic.

finally to come to main joke and to punch Bulgarians a bit... other mostly used route was via "via militaris" (they say that Romans never used that term btw and it was imperial cream)) i.e. some route from Belgrade to Serdica (today Sofia) was described even worse and often called "Bulgarian desert" due to devastations and lack of infrastructure etc. :p As known only later Rascia spread to that regions, so not our fault nor control yet )....what is important is that few centuries later after our rule French-Burgundian (OK it is clearly French sounding last name to me) de la Broquierre travelled it and "Rascia/Servia was OK, developed country and our ruler richest of all Europe" :lol sapienti sat.... joking little with Bulgars, but lovely details and mainly wanted to present some visible "trio" contures in previous events, French, Venetians, us. and maybe that hard/unusual route was taken just becuase of knowledge of Antioch and it's design etc, maybe.... so don;t take everything seriously, wasn't every part of France like it was in later centuries nor other things, so i like to say that cute detail about Venetians "chasing few pigs on main piaza around Nemanja time" :) or that as far as 1280s iiirc even famous Loredan family of Vinegia was involved in piracy :) ...who knows what Dandolos were doing, pickpocketing maybe before we gave them some sense" :) ...of course i'm now joking in other way, but not far from truth and joke about our and Bulgarian rule is funny hopefully ) (while it is not joke just sources))...but i say to people various structures and cities in western parts (Italian cities excluded as they went into decline, but Venice is not old city in that sense) are often product of later times etc.

all for true lovers as i already talked much, but i see it finished, as always concentrate on that idea that "trio" was in the making ;... fell to my mind instantly, dislike how some our historians, even if describing events nice, often say "west" while that concept was very shaky and almost non-existent then, also some description like "when Rascia took control" nobody dared to pass "via militaris" in masse etc... wasn't fear, was also respect as usually even in the west big armies did not pass through other territories, more organized countries etc. so nice is example when Maximilian wanted to pass strenghtened and respectable Venice it led to immediate war etc. etc. just to understand and learn history properly, really hope i added something valuable or unknown.... really that much for now while subjects are numerous, who has interest and love always open for some fresh or funny ideas, revisiting of moments or opinion, what you say my serenissima...

...and BTW Raymond was only one in times when combined armies reached Antioch (while his detachment was maybe first to reach etc) in favor of assaulting not besieging fort ; story says and if i understood, so something special in his behavior and approach, even against Byzantine "guidess" who advocated (and won) siege etc... who knows times, knows that you usually assault walls after some siege or bombardement or if you know "weak points" or some weakness in design.... of course i'm not telling this for story (while it is nice) but just as example that for theory or proposition you have to have some facts or connectable dots ; not just wishes and so on, so his special approach fits in some beforehand knowledge or plan.... BUT different is situation with Constant 1204, where our maps and weak spots in walls plans were dated, so we proposed firendly approach and then sack blah blah ..... :lol

seriously something else also on logic approach, beside having some "connectable dots" as i said, and as i see.... shortly, who gets it gets it, but after 1402 Sigi would just demand Stefan's head, naturally as he was such person if we imagine that he didn't want it earlier.... Of course there is story that he saved his life blah blah... (might or might not be true in dif way) BUT then you use logic, even if he saved his life he would maybe not touch him - but, pure logic, he would even if grateful NOT give him Belgrade, plus various lands Hun and Serb kings "contested" for long as he is so loyal Turkish servant :) and so on to put him first insome lodge/order in front of whole Europe, Hungarians around Sigismund would object both position and giving land, Italian allies etc etc to make Stefan stronger but at same time taking part in Turkish battles :) Logic, even if Sigi was mad it couldn't be :) ...so probably wasn't at Nicopolis or in totally passive role was or he did not command any army yet as too young etc. etc. (years we know are tricky) ....again not crucial example but important everyone to see how it works in some approach and questioning of sources, must be either logical or connectable... btw, could be possible that Stefan had deal with sultan that he will not take any active role in "Europe" against other christians while he was obliged to provide troops for Tamerlane battle or Asia minor, not impossible and happened few times etc... some sources, while one subject, say that (some powerful) Turks immediatelly started to "hunt Stefan" right after battle at Ankara, so role is dubious even there - maybe he just satyed passive or turned his back in crucial moment instead of "breaking Mongols 30 times" :lol ...but that is not important as explained not impossible that he was there as commander, as was deal but against Sigi to me very, very unlikely etc. considering other events and ties... as said not crucial in our history at all, series of defeats (or draws)) decided thatwe were "kicked out" - but for correctness and logic must be said... sorry can't reach Barbara now to tell :)

also shortly, very - i talked about some people life in early middle ages but for previous things few lines about Bulgar (boris) and Serb battle, and we are talking IX century almost Charlie times are valuable (but nobody says they are true)), about some "elites life"... if lines true not so different from rest of continent, maybe even above some parts if true, so Serbs gave gift to Boris "two falcons, two hunting dogs....." (and two unreadable things)). jokes aside what i'm trying to say, so it was usual "knightly hunting", while what is said about lack of infrastructure and lack of bigger cities is true, to extent.... so as concusion sometimes in historical approach of not so well documented times or with dubious sources, you also must combine some things... again unimportant and surelly for example (today) central Serbia, then Bulgarian once lands and officially some ressurected Byzant so with Alexios being sovereign of "desert" in moment of First travels - was area of recently finished wars as well, capture of Naisuss for short, counteroffenzive by Anglo-Saxons :) Byzantines say even Lonbards on our side :) etc etc. so also could have added to desert or deserted image, unimportant but who likes as i already can talk about it all ;) really much to learn in new way, closer to truth, there for interested....

for end, talking infrastructure there was joke launched by idk who how Dushan had aquaducts built (maybe some smaller things yes) but story insisted that it was not for water but for wine :lol really, while not impossible and unseen (in France)) obviously some attacks and have no idea what is base of whole that stories, while it was practice... maybe his size and approach made a myth, or is of newer dates (more) likely... hope you appreciate something to read and even catch, so always join...

of course, Wiki English page on "falconry" has a lot of data, history subcategory and "timeline" subc with "all" recorded mentions few lines and pics from various English -sexes as ekavians would say, but not to me really obvious mention by our incredible knights Branus and Stefanus ; ...btw, to avoid any controversy, by the time of our example of not only falconry but also breeding of hunds for hunt - it could be from evrywhere practically, while quasi Sarmatians introduced it to Germanics, it was known with Kreeks in Macedon empire time, but of course also widely (or less) among Gauls and our Romans etc. So it could be from everywhere by then, no conclusions just wonder why not mentioning it as one of clear examples in early med Europe etc.... but we are mentioned among few on "imperial guards" English page through history so my hart is full :)

really, great Wiki aside, like probably many, and why it is commonly repeated even in Wiki (but other pages)) i was always surprised and intrigued by the line and of course by name of our ruler Branus in original ;) and Stefan sounding same as Charles in French :) lovely, ask something... enigmatic history to say as least and obviously Greeks (maybe without intent) hid some facts, or said as euphemism :) ..... but doesn't matter just because we punished Christ doen't make us above anyone :) ...it is not conspiracy, i can confirm that scientist in the west have doubts but simply have no data or sources to write about us more....all for lovers

btw, since you mentioned it :) today more about that "Alemaniac guard" :) of HIM and what we know.... name is missleading and maybe based on fact that captain was Germo-Austrian (again Austria as identity wasn't concept of the times) knight of fame and initial unit consisted of "direct hand" 300 Germans... 300 is on of "magical numbers" and constantly repeating ones since antiquity and shouldn't be taken as real as well as (it seems) 80,000 etc. Kreeks etc. Something else though, from what we know captian was often called "Teutonicus" etc, but something else, wasn't purely "Alemannic" and he recrutied (tall above all, but not rule with growth) "across Europe" so it lost its initial character, if was... (so story about Swede bearing imperial standard/banner etc)... for history it might be, while as said wasn't rule, one of first examples - many copied later including British royal guard and Prussian/Russian etc etc. of some tall requirement. But we don't know much in general, just some facts and wasn't so "Alemannic" nor "Teutonic" later etc.... also was not pure guard in some tight sense, as units were often far from HIM or given direct battle or guard (cities) orders, so more "diverse duties" formations of avrious origins, from what we know...

it was also one of the first in that sense (hence name) that tried to follow example of classiacal or early Roman, since Kesar in some form, examples of "Germanic guard" in service of "southerners" to say so, similar to Byzant but even more closer to early Roman empire than them in some name and character, as explained... so it wasn't coincidence, it was intent etc. Interesting is that, as time progressed both Kreeks (cute) and Bulgars to extent often wanted to put as "in front" (losely said) maybe again say confirming some ancient knowledge.... same is, but unimportant today as they are just principessas haha, sometimes even to Anglo-Sexons puzzling tie with Italians all up to ww2 and similar things, it has nothing so much about "altomanuses" or similar as much about some medieval knowledge or respect among Italians elites long before any "manus" :) ...really want people to understand, while using minimal amount of words

why i always insist on details, while my field is medievalism - while true to extent, to prevent lines like "west supported Kreeks but not of us" due to culture etc... as said while true, and objectively Kreeks (accepted it officially) "footprint" (but dubious if we take one of John Kanta and HIM)) is greater in wider history, simply time of our uprising was soooo nadly chosen and main preocupation for Napoleon and all rest was - Napoleon :) ...for tiny example, uniportant.... i always say it is all unimportant but somehow bloody every example IS important.... :lol

something funny while just fastly went through last post, so must joke about it.... as i put "as time progressed Kreeks and Bulgars were ready to put us in front etc" and said due to our ancient knowledge ; ....but satirically said and instant idea - maybe wasn't that, more likely "as Turks came closer (and time progressed) Greeks and Bulgars were more ready to put us in front!" :lol in sense "let them struggle with these fools, maybe will avoid us" :) ...clever Kreeks maybe invented crusades for same purpose :) etc. endless materialfor satire. similar is situation in XIX c so they both said "let them tire down Turks first and then we will make our rebellions" :) ...interesting region in any way it was and any motive shouldn't be rejected :) with presence of all those various "blondies" made it then even more interesting and chaotic, but later on that.... seriously, one of the resons i like our time history are not only that cute ties with "duo" etc. but also that ancient Kreeks as principal rival, but many ties as well... as i talked before about having Pella and Olympus etc etc. in empire (almost sad that Athens wasn't for short)) is somehow cool, i imagine scenes from that (for example) clash in Albania among besieging "Angevin" (Stefan's) army and arrival, like in some Homer work :) of "Greek" relief force that crushed them, full of ancient pride and probably with some nasty words etc, then Miluten jumps in to "crush" them and so on, they say "again Servia, after they took our culture, language style and architecture and created Rome, betrayed Elenes!" ....so it is the Greeks that give that flavor to it and maybe elevating my fun to sometimes investigate, maybe if our whole history of time was with Poland (for example) as principal rival wouldn't be so fun or flavorable etc. And so on you get idea, but any time i read about Byzantines or in particular Kreeks, it is always that "proud Leonidas" (or Achilles, Hector etc) in front of our dukes..... :)

what i wanted to say before, is that about "blondies" in the era (meaning above all males) in region, and maybe previous sentences to extent show why many wanted to fight Greeks (but many to enter their service as well)... but something else though, always is fun thatsubject of various northern peoples around and basically their particular distinctions or rivalies. So Normans liked us very much (after mixing with French wine) good allies and beat Greeks while Norses, Swedes, Norwegians and Anglo-Saxons with their "Danish axes" hated both us and Normans, liking Greeks :) ...and so on if you get fun factor and so many different Nor-prefixes..... must have been very fun and how many times actually various Varangians, Sexons or Danes crushed our armies through centuries, but we with Lombards, "Germans" and Normans :) ...wild north.

and so on, mostly finished, numerous subjects and at least for satire nice mentions.... as said we ahve nothing to do with it, we were "trio" and mostly with them, fighting and irritating Greeks... if some interest as said, or some subject, always say something, investigate and use own brain for some conclusions... little stories and details are also good for some game modifications and designers, so i used some knowledge for some own mods, hope it could be used by some if our ties were unknown and similar.... maybe you don't know but one of fiercest battles (in generally fast storming) in famous Constant sack was among (some say) still predominantely Anglo-Saxons on walls against French knight etc, so lovely and usable... as said while i like to share, always invitation for some own story or new thing from era.

Kreeks are - btw to say for end as i "rarely" talk them often because i guess many things are better known - in some "hidden", unknown sense much more present in some things than just usual forms, from "columnas", temples, -kratias and all, togas :) "western epos", dudes bigger on statues than relity etc. many things really.... so fastly, no sources, some say that what we often accept and mimic as "Italian gestures" or body, esp. shoulders and hands etc. are actually, in some very old sense "Greek" or from southern part of Italy before Rome etc. and surely not "Etruscan or Kalish". tiny example... maybe not so much PC to say :) but some Sicilian things, we are talking some really old times.... in more modern sense, religious i talked and gave example that many "distorted" from initial "Kreek" practices, ofr example right shoulder cross etc etc In some local sense our (and most prevalent in us) "bre" and "more" are pure "Kreekisms" and has nothing to do with Ottoman rule per se, as well as other things usually (due to lack of knowledge, or as often maybe since Miluten as some joke many Greek things were called Turk, teory)) ......... so i say and insisted many times on theories, again touching far past, of that "Serdi" and similar Servias in Greece, eventual pushing towards west and better mixing with Croats (etc) and than intended comeback etc etc. apolitically but misteriously. As said "Macedon" (guess one of propositions) was something like "tall" among other things, usual atribute of our leaders... and many symbols, btw, we all accept as "our" are Greek in one way or another often from some wider Macedon, so not only our (which are in fact more Roman as aquila and four letters, but nobody says that eagle wasn't some animal of power in Greece etc. not to repeat how many things Ruma copied) but as i said even things like "harpoon" ) i.e. "three toothed weapon" were in some region of Serds and Kreeks.... all shortly and not our symbol in any way - but Ruman "3 fingers" surely is :lol

that's it in short again... coming back to Greeks, guess it is known, but even in some "physicalities" sense it is joke about "elites" being often shorter and similar... Maniakes :) a possible Macedon Kreek was considered "giant" and similar.... could explain, if we are going deep, incredible (from alliance) personal hostility of Dushan and Kantakouzenos, maybe also Macedonian etc other Greeks did not feel that much... Some say usually they were more "like that" and rivalry ready etc.... while unimportant super theories and stories.... somehow, maybe bias or not knowing early middle ages, but in high or late at least there was no big hostility/brutality among Serbs and Kreeks, "some Serbslayers" etc. but this is maybe just impression... so what Greeks really knew is theroetically interesting, again for end.... in some other way, while there were many whenever there was possibility of "Greek queen" and her son it led to movement among nobility and some rebellions sowas some cute rivalry in way :) ....eto, not to say i rarely or rarely-positively speek about Kreeks, full of words for serenissima :) but often take it as known... for some reason (beside they "enskalved" us by mystake)) it was some rivalry... often in some psychological sense, rare mentions by them (while there were many)) might be sign of "grave offence" or "knowledge" (paradox) than they not knowing etc. so every survived source is just survived one and often maybe intentiopnally hidden or satirized by humoristic Greeks etc etc.

...so history, to say, is to say Italian way "story" in sense it should be objectively told ; (but also always say philisophical discipline, but that is for other story) so i like Kreece, ancient one as seen, but we are talking all med events in some newer or fresher way... talked many times with Greeks of some knowledge, not hiding own interest for (unimportant for them as it was few decades but for me interesting) HIM era and wanting any time trace or source etc. and of course it wasn't much about conquest or anything like "having Athens in empire" but other cute things they don't know like to me very funny source (or quasi one) that he intended to acuse Mt Athos (and probably Constant patriarch if could gate him) for "heresy" :) or how he put ex-logothete in charge of our church... unusual things for our region, present in the west similar to some German rulers or French, so interesting what was in his head in light of eastern-catholic churches, which not only functioned differently but also structured as well etc... so i find it funny and fresh..... i alsosay to them that in light of all regional things, strong and "aggressive" Louis in Hungary (in way Stefanide or Angevin, while as paradox he himslef, HIM, was maybe also of some third descent from same family and surely not anti-French etc) parts of Aragon rule, Genoese pressure and presence even in Adriatic etc. he tried some "unity of Kreeks, Serbs and Vinegians" so was partly liked in Dalmatia, Ragusa they say etc. parts of Greece - if Greek medievalist do not know those things... so as i say them, why not saying it here :)

so we are looking objectively at all that happened, unemotionally or "who liked who" etc.... our relation of time was as said complex, interesting but also not so "hot" it seems... wasn't love but wasn't hate as i gave those examples, other one also small could be that (Byzantine) Kreeks after all instantly gave high, senior title to after all son (Stefan L) of our "imperial noble" who (shortly) served SU IV, after his hastly retreat through Constant etc. they could just say "who cares about them" they have the west :) so was some special relation and rivalry without seamingly some "hotness".... while our and Kreek relation is much longer, somehow what era in its zenith teaches us both - "money is not everything" :lol (as both elites, our later, titles as rich)....for end also joke on relations and to Greek mediavalists - it is rather that some presence of name "Baldovin" even in Rascia villages wasn't so much because of Baldwin of Jerusalem, but more likely because of Latin emperors of the name :lol ...cute, but lovely relation and events

or "unity of Greeks, Serbs and Venetians" just without Greeks in power.... :lol

seriously and for lovers, mentioning Greeks and what i heard from some work from them, never seen sources to say right away, but see no reason this not to be true as story is relatively "small" and insignificant, but i like to share this one for other reasons touching only us and Venice, then Dandolo one....

so small prelude by the time when Venice and Geno(v)a prepared big mutual war at the start of 1350s, seeking allies (Venice was already in big truble by then, tempest, earthquake and diseases but also lost some battles) our HIM by some time suspended any own actions, he was crowned for years etc. and maybe just some movements around Thessaloniki and in Thrace i.e. eastern parts. But no some conquest for years, left Aragonese alone, as well as mostly Byzant as said - maybe just as Venice wanted :) ....so it is in Venetian interest to make alliance with Kantakouzenos, not for power but for (then small) Byzantine fleet, Venice only see ships around ) ...so they include Aragon but initially (that's story and how that Greek work said) emperor Kanta (for short, just like HIM etc) hesitate and refuse preocupied only with Dushan and his intentions and generally not trusting Venice which avoids "having any influence", and he was quiet as said... so Venetians try again, few times, even calling back ambassadors etc. Finally Kantakouzen agree after Genoese "provocations" and throwing rocks from Pera to imperial city :) I say i know nothing and talking from head i.e. from something from Greek work but something like that.... So he joins (for short) Venice, Genova allied maybe with Ottomans etc. But, text said, he beside money from Venice wants some territories from Genoese control if they win and also (maybe) some return of some cities from Dushan but Venice constantly refuses subject of our HIM and any "influence" :) so it was not part of deal.... all for interested (again no source is trustable) and by then Dushan is already a Venetian citizen etc. :)

as said million small details - true or not, see nothing spectacular in this particular - but lovely subject generally... epilogue is that Dushan tries to continue actions and move towards Constant only after greater war is finished, never doing anything to directly interfere with Venetian plans, so previously when he had actions against Catalans, Venice had as well, when he stopped, Venice had interest, when he tried to continue (but died soon) Venice had no more interest for Kantakouzenos alliance etc. all cute, important only to us and Venice as said so was it some alliance or not... generally "trio" had interest to "keep quiet" about many of others ties just because nobody wanted to take resposibility for other's eventual mistakes and so on (and nobody says that everyone talked to others about every action)... to me lovely stories, to some maybe not :) but to be "allied" with Venice and France of the times was "prestigeous"... all for science and for lovers, even gamers or filmmakers etc. really have million details, sometimes i just remember them when mention something else like this one, but must stop once so if not around hope you got enough :)

i mean, i talked this before also, but to summarize again for Greeks and in days when "punishment" subject is actual at least in "western traditions" ) ....so you should know again that HIM is only (don't know other) med king and emperor that did not evade international justice, 700 years past. So he served 40 years in dungeons, initial sentence was 150 years but was released earlier due to "good behavior" in dungeons and not touching Byzant ever :) really was found in mid 1920s but hidden by scientists and some clergy due to "political climate", Italy, ww2 and new totalitarianism ) until late 60s when Titus allowed placement in St Marks (appropriate)... his real tomb is one of the (unlike many only damaged) totally destructed during times, similar to some places related to "Helen/Blanche of Stefan/Louis" :) ...as leagcy, today he is best known for successfuly fighting "latin heresy" around globe and forcefully converting catholic Albania into islam :lol (lil' BS and joke) even without possibly not controling Albania, but from afar ) ....like these jokes and esp. how he got 40 years in kelia making us pioneers in that field of "slow but reachable international justice" :) and to Greek medievalists to repeat as cute.

Miluten is, repeat, i think still in Serdica (Sofia) i.e. mummified parts/relics of him etc. He also successfuly prevented "latin heresy" and kept Greece great as is today, by attacking it and arresting emperors that tried to ressurect Byzant :) hahaaa, lovely and Greeks are laughing as well as we and Venetians (Italians)... we all tried to "restore" Ruma by destroying "1000 years reich of Romania" :) ....but of course this just jokingly, whole era has deeper issues and things for researchers and investigators ; always join if you are doing so etc.

if you however dislike middle ages (!) but like some countries of later date like for example USA (biggest banana)) reading it, found that really minor fact but is novelty or interesting for us, or rather worth mentioning as fun for us, importance low but such coincidence )

there (never visited and don't know anything) are 23 historical figures on some marble relief above doors od some part of US house of representatives (so part of congress) and only 2 popes among them, never knew just read. Innocent III and Gregory IX, cousins and both Conti, while Italians say that it is same family in greater sense, di Segni maybe distinct but same etc... so why mentioning and what makes our med royalty unique (so fun fact) both were relatives of our Nemanjic dynasty... as said not directly with main line which started with younger Stefan (Charles?)) and his kids and later further branched with Dandolo son etc. but via older Vukan and his line (if we are having right knowledge)... so distant relatives of our kings but some relatives... only in our dynasty ; ...why are they only two popes in that regard portraited there is question for American historians, but i bet many of them don't know this ;) ....Vukan i.e. his father a bit enigmatic Nemanja were, to say for foreign readers, skillfully able to see into future it seems ) as marriage of our oldest prince and some girl from di Segni happened much, much before family became "papal" so were above time in that sense, while we know little just some possible wife (and only that) from there figure as most probable etc. why we don't know exactly... Nemanja had no idea (or he had, wink) that two of his sons would be in marriage with later papal family but (also Byzantine) one of the more sounding names of Venice, unique thing continentally and tells something strange/funny about our Nemanides and by coincidence they are on that relief as only

so hey, another small but cute detail of our middle ages and unique thing.... so having kids with papal families could be added to list of our unique things and legacy - beside inventing international law and "red notice wanteds" and building network of wine aquaducts, to name few :) ...what you think French, was Charles named that way becuase Nemanja (known as Stefan) was such powerful figure.... :) just joking, but this time just this fun fact.... btw, i'm not saying that both popes were particularly great nor special, just fun fact that both were "our royalty relatives", but our main line did not listen them much anyway as noticed )) ....but question of our "principesse italiane" is always interesting in discourse of all said

really is interesting, i mean really... when you dig deep into it and try to find some ties and totally forget things you think you know, it is

how we fit into it and somehow we fit, really from some resurfacing with that line with Boris which is unusual, via other ties i mentioned in high and late meds and until that position and concessions given by Sigismund to Stefan, simply not fitting what we know or imagine about our strength and development i.e. even in contrast to it... mentioning Stefan L, not so important example, but if we assume that he was chosen as leader by nobility in time when country was leaderless interesting is detail that even in Constantinople he chooses Byzantine but still Italian family wife, Gattilusio in presence and probable chance of many Greek wives, while George ends up with famous Greek family one and they clash early.... maybe still in dying country among nobility "if it has to be pro-Byzantine wife, let it be at least Italian as smaller of two evils" if you get me... they clash (Stefan and George) early etc. BUT to me whole story about Stefan is dubious and only mention is (great writer but maybe bad source) Konstantin the philosopher (if his at all in original now when we doubt everything)), so might be lie that he had such wife at all as she was never mentioned nor represented with Stefan.... either Konstantine lied or she was his wife but there was some nasty conspiracy by someone (George and Venice)) to remove any trace of her etc.... that i dealt with and no repeat, just interesting detail why Byzantines would not offer Greek wife to son of such hero etc... maybe our nobility... but did not want to talk it at all

so went totally off my intent, just wanted to say that i'm looking into something really old, including structure by Septimus Severus where Innocent was chosen :) and so on, giving some guidelines to those maybe wanting to make own connections, rather than anything concrete now - so good luck with own conclusions of eventual fun... was it really murus, Servius etc. Palestrina or as we called it Preneste or Prenestina (quest for Italians is why such name distortion) in any way figured as important center of some Roman nobility "activities" (hopefully not that, pardon)) and first Conti pope was bishop of it before election (held in different manners than later elections)... even that Germanic sounding names of many "Roman noblity", presence of even German popes before, even few bishops of Palestrina and all known and not surprising considering that Italy was kingdom of Lombards, but looking into it really for different reasons.... btw, were Italics really dead by the times we talk about :) hehe - i'm gonna prokedim Barbara :) ...but looking into it all and something connectable with us and our and Italian tie i.e. Roman etc, while many is almost no need to research... btw also, in some IX-X c century Stefan was present as name among both us and Italians, so ceratinly much before than Hungarians... i'm not saying it to slap Magyars i.e. Huns nor beacuse name is ours ) - but as some addition to "own" idea that also Uros (-h,-io) might be our and Italian used name, not maybe from Hungary in our practice etc etc.

for some humor - lovely is article (Eng) about "diocese of Preneste" (word really have meaning in our ekavian) and in "history" paragraph it starts with "Palestrina was looted in 1473" while above Wiki says "this article needs expansion!" ....... :lol

pope Francesco has died, rip. was a good pope, not considering some global sense nor importance, but in some minor sense as not only Franciscans were close to our dynasty (but not as much as Colonnas)) nor some church issues, but he called patriarch of Serb church "as great and important" in some line, not meaning names rather as position and significance :) ...but those are not my field subjects ;

really is interesting also how some things from 500s in Italy almost are directly replicated events (with own flavor) from our or regional whole 800 years later i.e. in our mid XIV - and that is baby time longer and greater than one dividing us today from middle ages :) ...so some always speculate that some "lines" in continental history are almost constant or repeatable.... i'm aiming at "disappiontment" of Lombard king(s) of Italy by Franks that turned him to "Bavarians" while Franks and Byzant became shortly closer etc etc. Similar to HIM policy one might say...... really amny super details one can't even touch on forums, esp. as busy.... here to say again, while indeed some of our elite life is similar to practices of Normans, just much before :) and obviously we had some "alliance" - to say again i'm surprised by many western historians labeling Jaquinta as "Norman princess" and to say again i have some doubts... but guess based on some material evidence and knowledge Italian historians maybe know what they are speaking and her father was indeed one to "greet Normans and continued to serve them", and maybe know more about him and family, but somehow i'm not 100% sure for what it matters.... minor thing that maybe make me more leaning towards Lombard origin is son she had with Bodin (one of) and is mentioned as "Arhiriz" obviosuly some variant of Greek name and of his father, but to me sounding more Lombard than Norman would say, maybe i'm mistaken... but not so important

now other side.... resaons why we all maybe mistake on interpretations of some events in our XIV c and Dushan times are based on Nikephoras Greghoras works and some like him.... again, like Konstantin (couldn't even understand Serbia/Rascia and our ties comming from the east etc) similar is case or description of Nikephoras - maybe great writer, maybe good intelectual but totally bad source and one who twisted "facts".... so maybe it wasn't Kanta (that much) who used Turks in such numbers and importance and those from sources our hevay cavalry clashed with are maybe not his at all but maybe (in twist) Paleologos employed ones, and by Genova - and it is known that Dushan sirectly threatened Genova etc.... maybe Dushan and Kanta were in fact initially more "western or pro-Venetian" but it turned into some personal feud and animosity, but Greek Macedon family was more "pro-Serb" or "pro-western/Vinegian" than Paleologos, still maybe "rememebring Miluten".... how France fits, well France official was already non-direvtly Capet ;) so don't blame France etc.... anyway, Nikephoras maybe twisted some things, while intelectual of respect probably.... Kantakouzenos, while clearly attacking Dushan and our nobility with satire :) and had some unpleasant tetatets with HIM ) wrote something else, but Nikephoras wrongly (maybe) acussed "John" of some ties that were in fact Paleologos and Genova ones - who likes our history....... and why some Stefan L marriage is dubious at all, as both George and him were not such enemies as imagined and both maybe listened to nobility, but it is really (and paradoxal to say) - real attitude of George and Stefan could be source traced spectacularly to Rome and Colonnas more than anyone else, as i explained...... who likes likes a lot to understand there who can follow even to extent

btw, probably for end, while reading various wiki articles maybe last year etc. just to confirm what we all knew :) i ran into some article (to unimportant to ever look for it but there is) via outside link and some mini interview with don Prospero (he is public unlike some members and "don" which is Italian thing... but not in that way)) and was text more about palace than him but can confirm that by his words joke about "popes and Colonnas" are still alive in their family and maybe Italy or Latium at least... while talking from head as ever, he said "we naver go against popes" )) probably with smile but not noted by journalist and called Oddone "one strange/rare pope-relative" etc. etc. all iirc, but maybe wider Italian joke...

since it is so "important" for our (far but not so far) history i again recommend visit, but it is mostly closed?! and maybe adding some eggs to it :) from outside.... just joking, nor i like modern quasi elites so much, we are just investigating (while being mere "bean eaters" from their collection as they say) middle ages and bringing some light and understanding to you, knowing nothing - even some ancient etc.... elites of the times were awful (but most educated and knowledgeable of the time, even brave) not like today rulers and similar "elites" who with nose full of cocaine and alchohol ram into crowd with precious cars unpunished hehee :) but like nose full of coce thing etc etc... having own kids at luxury but sending others kids to deaths etc etc.... so Sarra was hero and brave. one further detail from memory and texts, man who rebuilt Prenestina (really our and Italian - and Serdic - places naming scheme is sometimes similar), fortified it further etc. was certain Stefano Colonna in 1440s, right after second "salting" in mentioned events, legendary... and maybe last from that side ;

so basically wanted to add that even today is even for them alright to joke with our "st Sarra", salty Colonna beans :) and they being quasi "very papal nobility" :) even by them... so joke about it and shame that visitirs from Servia are not getting some 50% off for tickets or more outside working hour escursions by them :) like some allegedly do in other parts, (Kreece etc).... reason why I always (if some Colonna read) often say "quasi deal" of Colonnas and others in early XVI c is that some speculate that Colonnas were "just pacified" and some possesions or landmarks went into Barberini holdings maybe not entirely by Colonna will, but also some semi-joke ; as we don't know every detail and is concerning Preneste itself... so that is base of my doubt i.e joke... lovely story and to make us second on that book frontpage historically was right decision - right after Lombards :) .....since we are in some trouble and all, maybe it is time to restore Ruma again :) ....and btw, to Romanians i say, it is just Etruscan and language of Romagna and no some unseen distortion, regions less ruled by Lombards etc. so even native way to call Rome by many Italics and glad we kept it form of some smaller towns but also some maountains and similar around "u" and "e" are cute

so generally really hope some things are much clearer to all readers, that was goal :yes we and Italians are clandestine sisters, but it was more about various other things than Italians and some ties and how real middle ages looked like from our side etc

and btw, i mean i already said that "nobody (in some alliances or wink-ones) talked to others about every detail" so we (anyone who see what i see) are not saying that Colonnas directed this or that move, nor Stefan (Charles but from some time i call him Stefan as you noticed and is super)) all of ours (even less we his)), nor that Dandolos directed every move of our kings to this or that village :) expansion or every action.... in that sense Colonnas were more (while certainly supporting some moves but not every) for us tie with Italy and some Roman nobility struggles, papal, and wider area etc. while Venice was as well but explain right away... So we could call them more our "interior ministry" in humoristic sense.... however foreign policy was mainly in domain or filed of "trio" i.e. except own nobility, Dandolos mainly (repeat in evry moment including Miluten takover there was Dandolo doge) but greater Venice and French, where we all found some mutual paralel lines and ;; around... so Colonnas were totally different field and allies (while certainly liking our German and French rulers when needed etc) and nobody says they were behind every expansion of course

something else for end as well, made mistake and contradicted own words when i said "pro-western" this or that :) in modern almost sense... as said no such concept in heads of all kings continentally (so Capets are good example with Greek dominating names often and wanting to tie with region), just some rulers had different views or some knowledge but wasn't east-west divide in sense of some "more advanced knowledge or some values" but i said western as bad choice of words.... generally it was about really some kings who had some more relaxed views or even better said some knowledge or desire to challenge church figures, support some changes etc (don't even know how to define but you get it)) ....there were generally those kind of figures like Dante, Petrarca, HIM :) on some level and others..... good joke and BTW SU IV anyway had no choice (like Philip almost, even better example of some German kings before) as he was already excommunicated and under anathema by Constant patriarch so preparing "heresy" trial for him if could catch him, was logical :) and so on.... genrally bad choice of term used by me - they were "pro-something" that made our kings in some moments closer in their heads with Dandolos, Capets etc etc..... both paragraphs look like minor things but just for those who hear stories for first time, as choice of words and relations is sometimes important, very

that much, that much, interesting times and now i undersstand why Petrarca while sitting next to HIM in big ceremony ) (they knew via both Colonna and Venetian tie why i joke often) called it "dark ages" :lol ...many know really few about era ;

and it is exactly that presence of Dandolos as doges in every "our" moment - to say merely for international readers - that causes "problems" (or some confusion) in interpretation of events from our side for really all continental historians and enthusiasts, to say if you followed until now... so i and French historian for example agreed or leaned more that - due to fact that he issued recognizable seals similar to French kings, position and "lily" etc and copied Louis IX and "shortly" captured Albania but returned it etc etc. - that Miluten maybe was more "French player" even grandson potentially.... BUT indeed and as said in moment of his throne taking (peaceful initially and older half-brother even apologized to "Helen") there was Giovanni Dandolo there, relative, and he was with own motives Michael VIII Paleolog to go down fastly as he also prepared action on Crete potentially etc etc... so you understand where some problems are in interpretation, as young Miluten could as well act in absolute agreement by doge of Venice, who died 7 years after leaving Miluten a bit "confused", just like Dushan during "Dandolo interregnum" between Francesco and Andrea etc. And he had soldiers from Veneto region as well, graves tell.... so who likes must be warned here on problems in interpretation - just because later Miluten entered "Vinegian laws" as nad guy means nothing on his rise - as he started to talk more with Clement and finance papal forces in Italy, which at moment wasn't big problems for Colonnas..... so it is just interpretation by me, French historio agrees, that Miluten was acting on Stefans wish and as "French player", could have been Venetian as well, same "troublemaker" for both, Michael 8 etc.... so specualtion and theory of his (maternal hence less worth) direct Capet origin is nice, could resolve at least some problems.... lets leave it there, just wanted to point how Dandolo presence always confuse some historians in said sense.... could be said that Rascia maybe was some (in positive sense for once)) testing ground to unite Capets and Dandolos and products were all our SU marked rulers, maybe not so successful experiment for all :p or on the contrary very successful ; ....so i like very much and repeat how in XIV we went to "eachothers throats" and always laugh at those repeated excommunications of Vinegia by mostly French popes, anti-Miluten laws and fake dinars, Miluten calling Clement/Philip into help etc :) Venice is cutes of all, quasi republic wanting something but always ending in some distrust by others and even more "playing fools" of any ties with others.... so it was only Dandolo royalty for them on whole continent and why surely they were weak to our SU rulers etc.

totally else but cute subject, more anecdote than something sourcable.... while it is very, very hard to say since when we had ties with Italic and Roman nobility so just because something was recorded later doesn't mean there wasn't before due to our awful sources etc. this is cute anecdote.... during German king/emperor Henry IV (or Heinrich, always strange to use English versions names, Henry Himmler etc) attack on Rome and pope, while Vatican (different than today) fell fastly and was captured Rome itself held for more than year past iirc. Behind Murus Servii or Servian wall in some ancient sense, hence and it was name known even then... cute detail, pope fled behind it and then Normans saved him etc... while German kings continued some anti-popes choice, other chosen by those following those who opposed him had that anecdote of "Servian wall held" (while it fell after year as said but pope hid into castle st angelo etc) and one of later popes from that line Urban II was one to tie more with Dioclea, and later of course Nemanja was directly tied with Roman nobility... cute anecdote and only that, nothing mentionable as history and as said could be that our ties with Italians i.e. directly Romans are much, much older but undocumented... again anecdote, don't take it as history but "murus" played some role (not in original state by Servius of course).... lovely

...and - last one, really million subjects - to somehow logically "close circle", it is that shift from our papalism to gradual Colonnism ) i.e. some ghibellineism or rather dancing on and around it, made me sure that Colonna family i.e. some parts of it was the one for us.... would be to arrogant to say that our rulers were so naturally smart or informed to make shifts by themselves, if so than again double hats-off, but more likely this was case - one doesn't even need any source... it would also be to pretentious or arrogant to say that "we shifted them" not becuase our rulers were not more powerful than just one family, but becuase they were in Italy, in Rome, old family and knowledgeable etc. so exactly that "mildly ghibelline" shift, again, is proof of them being allies.... same is thing with Venice, to extent, during some Dandolos - some north Italians call Ludwig Bavarian (crowned by Sara) to be judge in some issues hoping that he will by old habits punch Venice, but he sides with them, it is all same line.... however Venice is different case than our rulers (in many ways as being por...democracy among some) nut in concrete they oscilated too much, in our case we managed to "buy Germans" once in 1180s and until fall no German ruler ever punched us, on the contrary awarded us etc.... got some idea where Colonnas are visible as "interior ministry", but not so straightforward ghibeline stand indeed.... that's for book, not for my fast guidancess and forum forms...

Andrea and HIM would be such pair, too bad a lot of trouble struck Venice at our peak... maybe Mars wish, who likes religion etc. :) but seriously, both youngish, HIM younger a bit (at most 6 years) which was for Doge rare or relatively rare sight, figure, energy etc. Some say he led Venice to disaster, some say he saved it from it, but was last one.... but in pair two youngish and impressionable rulers would surely in right circumstances take Constantinople, then Genova, then truimphal entry into Rome, across the Alps to Paris, London.... restoration.... :lol and then Petrarca as logothete :) vostra, nostra, riposta, cosa nostra! :) (i don't buy any relation of him as true btw)...lots of humor but like the story and how young and of similar age (if we take HIS as 1408 but not sure) they were, maybe even died in same age, both 4th in some sense, lots of symbolism really in many things not only on them.... i like to joke about it, of course there was not enough ships nor manpower for restoration, but tell it humoristically little to encourage Vinegia :) ...waiting serenissime )

last post and joke, while we are in form.... i'll give you recipe for "salty Colonna beans": first you have to have two eggs ) keep them cool. Then you catch one pope, slap it few times, but keep it fresh.... then you go to Palestrina, take the beans and make the saltiest Colonna beans :yes

the end, love the stories no sarcasm, ties with Italy etc... as said it is not so "invisible" as many maybe thought it would be, not telling just Italy but also France and further, as demonstarted ;) but unimportant and just for lovers, hope was educational or interesting, with much humor (can't use language always, so recipe for example would be funnier but i shortened word usage))

and, just for those maybe not reading outside, they both (Andrea and SU IV) compiled, refined laws and reformed legal system same year probably, like twins ) Oh such coincidence, they were not in contact! ....wonder did Andrea also included obligationary lines about "latin heresy" in his laws :lol ...baby, such rape of history that it is almost not funny, but what to do now.... it is not important even for countries even less for religions - but possible Petrarca letter to our ruler, if was eaten by some priests by chance, would be today very interesting to have as exponat or similar... so you get it on this small point be it in Serbia, Albania or anywhere in the world and why it is lie... Vinegia, some say couldn't even man in some moment 20-25 galleys after all troubles, but Andrea and Francesco, some say, supplied at least 5+ galleys to Dushan etc etc...... and just to say here, our historiagraphy doesn't even hide excellent ties with Venice, we are just talking details... and things why would not Italian sculptors make Nemanja, was possible even in XIX etc. ...while work is OK, realistic representation :) just i dislike lack of queens on relief - more important for country than our dumb kings ) ....except HIM :)

always, as i said there must be some philosophy in historical approach, so sometimes think when things really changed, when truth become victim etc. Long foreign occupation partly, some blame "chauvinism" of XIX c but people still researched (talking about us) freely so i disagree, so idk, must be XX c century with triumph of some racisms (nothing black-white) desire to divide people that never hated themselves that much during centuries of "dark ages" for example. But don't know really maybe combination of all 3, in our case it is also Phanariot influence and so on, so it is localized and no general definition to everyone (some in Britain blame Victorian era etc but not our thing).... but again, take Germans and us (as biggest continental nation not bacause they are not banana)) never war, never hate during all those looong dark times, Croats and us, never problem and what to say about Italians and us - absolute sisters of "long dark" and often even died around, were happy just to be knighted by our heretic kings ) ...while we went with their wives :) ...seriously, some irony and why true lovers should apolitically research those times, not because it is important but not to live in lies about some figures and have wrong picture about them, for example.... i don't know what are problems with Greece (for example) to me looks troubled in many ways )) but don't see much cultural problems from here (maybe i'm blind to it from outside) but remember line of some Greek historian "people learn some myths, lies and it becomes path they securely walk through to some routine (for example market)... when faced with some truth or something different it is like they suddenly have to change path they are so secure on and it is uncomfortable or similar..." my interpret but like that.

guess when you relax yourself of all of it, religion "sisterships", racists "sisterships" etc etc. you don't care much about anything inthere, like me for example.... when you don't care much, it is not even anything "big" if all our rulers were catholics and today country is orthodox :) ....or we were Romans and now they say must be sisters with Vikings :lol etc.

btw, maybe, surelly less known detail but since i mentioned it - for some relations of "us" (lets say dominantely Bulgars and Serbs, but even there more Serbs as we were more "Roman" due to geography and maybe origin) with true Russian intellectuals and people with true, unbiased and drunken ) knowldge seening just some "Slaves" :) it is not just "racism" (for definition resons) in question, but they know true facts.... so some respect in true knowledgeable is - a bit paradoxally and maybe unknown - not based on our "slavism", quasi-race and that we were like them etc not even on "E" or kirilenko... they contrary to belief rspect us just because of our old Roman ties and fact that we given them a lot of words, cultural things, some would say imperial but not that as it sometimes is born in many nations... so we gave them that Roman connection and our race is not even base of their "respect", again mean true intellectuals.... so it is one dimension, other is (also maybe shocking for those not knowing all) that they respect that although maybe being ancient and non-Slavic per se, we accepted mainly Slavic speak etc etc.... maybe i'm not able to define it best way, but hopefully i was close to doing it right ; ...so there is some trick, same is with many local population around us - including Bulgars which i said gradually left "imperium" to us often - they maybe knew our origin, sorace did not play any significance.... but for Russians this is maybe unknown widely, and touches only some true their intellectuals etc. so it is not just "panslavism" at all... so i always warn that many "Serb lovers" in XIX were not ethnically Russian at all (although many were) but often of other nations in origin (often Germans but also Baltics) which knew that "Serbs might not be Slavic in origin" etc etc.... generally only for science, but to bust some myths as well

so one example, cute mistake but nice subject :) ....wiki says "word eksponat from German" further borrowed from Russian (possibly they were geographically closer) but further it says "possibly" :) from Latin "exponatus".... so yes, it is from our word in some far past ;)

...whenever i see these negotiations i remeber line, i mentioned here few times as it is comical, of our king Milan (the Lombard also) who after wars of 1878 told to foreign diplomats (ancdotaly) "if you even thinking giving Nish (Naisus) to Bulgarian principlaity, better chop off my head and put it here" :lol (at some beautiful Turkish monument from 70 years before) ...or legendary line from second uprising by leader Milosh "here you are, here i am - war!" :) that's how you negotiate :) ...but nothing with any territorial things nor i care much - referendum or it belongs to Genova etc. just like these humoristic lines of our diplomacy... mentioning popes again, if i agree that today crusades are totally de-mode and not something popes should do (and only country i see to be crusaded is Romania if you get it)) but some excommunications, interdicts or anathemas on whole countries should be something done by popes or religious leaders, for some spice ;) as it somehow lost the point. we called him "Franjo" (as frnaciscans are franjevci etc) and don't understand why that names (as i talked about English) are sometimes applied and sometimes not, not only yes for popes but just sometimes for foreign kings through history sometimes not (Sigismund in our literature for example, as he was German king) and why not as rule - so Franjo Toti etc.... in our old speech (was young but remeber) it was of course "Frankisk-us" these are something we accepted from Croats etc. as way to say it...

really and finally.... i asked few quests for eventual Italian knowers (already forgot what, but i'd rather land on Uranus than have some answer, but OK) and forgot to put this few days ago... so wiki has this line on Inokent III, Lotario:

"he was from house di Segni blah blah.... and then says also: Lotario was the nephew of Pope Clement III; his mother, Clarissa Scotti (Romani de Scotti), was from the same noble Roman family."

so maybe dumbed at line but generally don't understand this completely as Clement III is also noted as di Segni, naming him as last name Scolari but di Segni, so i understood that "Conti or di Segni" is more some generic name (as clan) than family i.e. included various families etc. if that's correct... then further if that's the case don't understand it completely if was "di Sergni" why related only through mother of Scotti to other di Segni member etc etc. you get it where i need some help if you know something from "boot". Was clan or horde :) not family? ...just for clarification why not expecting

asking as in this case that our "di Segni" principessa maybe had no blood connection with Innocent and maybe just some others of famus Segni or Conti and not all, if i'm correct... so maybe not relatives in some tight sense etc. but some clansgirl etc... interesting is (only thing i managed to find) story of some "Scotti" family - it is allegedly, very allegedly from Scotland and arrived in Italy to fight with Charlemagne against Lombards etc. but those are of Piacenza, Lotario's are "Romani Scotti" o maybe different........ anyway, to me they are all Servi :) but if you can put something substantial to what is "di Segni" thanks, principessa... forgot to ask few days ago but was subject... so maybe not blood relation just some "horde/clansman" with pope that our di Segni princess :yes for what it matters in historical research... Colonnas are something else, distinct family and - in some twist - might be that Nemanja married directly Colonnas or some "conti" but "conti of Tusculum" if you get me, not di Segni, interesting proposition.... pornokratia :)

whatever though fun themes - again if someone form there can help me with something always welcome, but hardly... must admit don't have any "good connection" there as that French or similar... maybe just some Italians knowing something about Rome digging around, but i think they are falschists, seen one carrying some dusty aquila around.... :)

worst of all, he was talking something about "restoration", uncurable :)

you know also what is interesting from some researches, but sit down as might be shocking ;..... Tusculum is - speculatively speaking in lack of sources but as ever zero fantasy - sooo interesting for us than is almost unbeleivable... namely it (among other things as it was ancient town related to old Latins i.e. us) was place of Cicero villa, place where he wrote some works etc. As i said Cicero is from Tullia gens, as well as Servius... As also said Petrarca found some Cicero lettersand was full of positive words for our ruler, all superlatives... and by "our ruler" i mean Andrea-SU IV :) ...and so on you get that interesting ancient tie... further in time, it was place often at odds with Rome or some "commune of Rome" and in XI century shifted to "imperial" policy, almost in same time as we i.e. Nemanio.... it hosted in mid XII among others emperor Barbarella :) some 30-40 years before we hosted him etc. found itself under attack by Rome and protected by same Barabarossa (falcshist, confiremed in historiography) and he often left some forces to protect it from Rome until his death... it was ruined, and probably salted near the end of XII c after Barbarossa death, sadly his son and popes both agreed Tusculum to be ruined etc etc. BUT ot was not end of us and Colonnas - and the rest is history as they say...

so it very much has some speculative connection with us and our events, i'm afraid historians still did not put enough light on it all but something is visible, really from Servius to modernity (i.e. Nemanja time)) and should not be rejected apriori etc. Think personally something is there that could explain our further behavior, clash with "Henry of Guleph", warm welcome to Barba etc and sudden Dandolo-Nemanide line, if you get it... lovely story, and surely i looked into it and took it as serious... so cute and connectable, even that "Petrarca found letters" and Andrea-HIM alliance but really is deeper.... step by step, really start to think that in Roman nobility we were connected with Servius etc. as talked... i always say, Gabriele poem or "oda" holds a lot of hidden messages to history lovers i figured out, but uniumportant.... always join me principessa and lots of kisses :)

IDK about you, but to say for end ) it really is super interesting when you totally change prosepective or "point at looking at things" about middle ages, first of all totally exclude later times from your minds, second foreget about some priest's writing and their understanding ) of it and some (if we tralk about Rascia above all) some religious things as motivations or divide or catalisator of events here etc. and twist it (properly and closer to truth) as some ancient struggle and some "guelph and ghibelline factins" struggle - canreally revolutionarize it and how you understand it... even small, a bit irregligeous and unimportant :) Albania - although king of Albania Stefan was most important figure of Europe for few decades :) - and its stand could maybe give some answer.... our elites were mostly (although there is some quasi stories about it being different, product of modernier times) peacefully accepted by sometimes big percent of Albanian population, Dioclea and later.... i'm not telling it as story nor for any idea to talk Albania per se, but only as it is interesting in discourse of our origin i.e. some ideas of it, so if we accept that Albanian pops were there for long (and not came with Turks from Caucasus)) while their endonym is not equal with exonym by most of us and that they were around before us i.e. Latin elite ;) etc. it also is interesting in discourse of "why they acted so mostly peacefully to us" and without major rebellions for centuries etc. As said not because of them, but for subject..... similar is with Italians, Venice rarelly trusted anyone but trusted us at our peak (except fake dinars episode)) - and it is important to note as they considered themselves "as Romans that run aways for others" etc etc.

interesting subject in any way.... when we understand it properly hope everyone will agree we have the right to annex Italy :) but we have enough old people already so why having it at all :) maybe just principessas )...cute is how exactly Serbo-Italic realtion (so both old Latin but Italians smelling more Lombard)) almost (not really but almost) was base of at least few important events all up to XX c ) ....never told, but should, pope that ruined and salted Tusculum was Orsini allegedly, Boniface from some "Kaetani" but some Italians say that relatively obscure "Gaetani" were some branch of Orsini, there was Kaetani-Orsini line etc etc.... i think this is best and most proper way to look at our middle ages, who agrees... somehow, to me looks that our rulers (Nemanides) were on some "ancient Rome" faction against some "Neo Rome" and somehow but politely said :) "good guys" among European factions ; but we are not gonna make American film :) so no divide.... rare dynasty in Europe i always say, but not unique nor so important, but noticeable enough that possibly factions from Roman nobility to Capetians, to Bavarians wanted to relate, till today unknown why, but hopefully closer if you followed me... decoded and maybe un-enigmated middle ages a bit... join.

yeah, this also anecdotal so when it is anecdote i always note ) but is based on truth, not continetal truth but older Levantine and biblical - in some sense insistance of such name in our Nemanjic rulers and others is as "Stefan was killed by Paul/Saul" etc. ;) ...but pure anecdote and myth as some popes were named Stefan as well etc. but cute story and not history, mere just to say it while mythical.... as said Stefans among Serbs are recorded during virtually Charlemagne....

lovely all lovely and makes me proud ) ....they say "history teaches us" (maybe but doubt true history existed)) but yes, some techings - road to success, personal, family and country is marrying "principessa italiana" ..... :lol relly million subjects and can't cover them all, and always just shortly cover them etc

and again, just for people reading it for first time or reading it but knowing nothing :) same as in case of Colonnas and as called them "interior ministry", again just because played mostly ghibelline card i.e. not playing i believe it was honest idea of old Ruma etc. so again nobody says that Barbarella ) for example had same ideas like we and Vinegia etc etc not to repeat all apologetic strories.... while nothing to apologize for etc.... so to make fun further "ghibellines" i.e. German emperors were to use same scheme as with Columnas and "trio" (incuding us) being foreign ministry - then something like German rulers were something like "ministry of defense" for us - in case if papas (and mamas) and some other French want to punch us :) ...lovely explained.

again just for casual and without some knowledge readers, not to be misunderstood as roles were divided but united etc.... maybe Nemanio, great-grand-great son of Licinius :) cleverly tried to whisper few words to Barabarossa, pardon Barbarella etc. about direction of attack and few "weak points" in Constant walls :lol but you should not be blaming German emperors for our, French and Venetian ideas or similar and they were even paid by Byzant while we were fighting it (somehow we always against Romea while being Roman haha, but that's the trick as we were Italiacs))... really, the ones mostly in danger were we and Venetians as Kreeks considered us both "their", ancient and Roman so we had to act, so no big apologies nor needed etc. all lovely, very hope you understood it all... German emperors (quasi Roman for both us and Italians) were allies in different field again.... glory to Dandolo-Nemanides, why? to be able in such proverbial "dark times" and more in generally situation, to make such conctructions on continent and use Germans as defense against papas, Colonnas as "extended arm" (no slaps)) in Italy, and France as ally etc etc. is glorious for times, hats off... must be some ancient relation but we went through it... again, like Italy my principessa etc. but heart breakes for Vinegia... at least one city as republic? :)

idk, people so like still to make videos about Templars and Philip etc. so while i barely touched it and not something i will discuss extensively - but for other things, even that moment in time hope i added something for lovers, really from place that knew a lot about it and mainly commanded continetal policies of the times..... :lol

that much on Barbarossa BUT (since we are on subject) what is, again but i did not explicitely said, concludable or "visible" or what some of us think is again touching Ludwig IV (Louis blasphemy)) Bavarian.... he might be much, much more involved in our events (indirectly so again not all his orders) etc. than thought

so shortly, he takes imperial crown few year 2-3 before Dushan takes our king crown... they both have similar policy regarding "original/basic/spiritual Franciscans" and support them, some faction might wirked for HIM etc. Sarra Columna again crownes Ludwig as French papacy (with strong Orisini ties) rejects, our ties with Colonnas are enoughly talked about... Very soon after as said Dushan takes the throne by armed action but he has German troops under own arm and their leader later commands all our imperial foreign troops - speculation is that they have been sent by Colonnas, Dandolos and Ludwig Bavarian of course, even mainly by him... Palmanus, said capitain is known and respected seemingly around continent - surely not practice (but maybe some precedent exists) but even popes mention Palman in letters sent to Dushan, when Greeks once surround his unit deep in Greece he is immediately released (why would Greeks do that etc) and so on, many many things that show his high reputation around whole continent and base for speculation that he wasn't just "mercenary who wandered to Rascia" etc. So speculation is that he was directly sent by Ludwig Bavarian, some say even not as "reinforcements for Dushan" but a bit paradoxical as sign of Ludwig's gratitude to our crown and dynasty - for firm support and for even further influencing Colonnas and Franciscans to support Ludwig etc, plus he even sends dead Friedrrich Habsburg daughter as wife for Dushan (failed marriage under suspicious circumstances ect).... so while i maximally shorten it, i gave enough interesting facts and speculations for you to get picture - so pure logical and factual conclusion is (almost like Barba and Nemanja + Colonnas always) that Ludwig Bavarian and Dushan were in close cooperation and tie.... so our crown surely had much greater role in Europe than thought and so on...

but same is with Italians i.e. few families (so who says Italy was just fragmented prey)) so it makes much more interesting history, maybe widely unknown above all here... while we can't say again that Ludwig direct interest was Dushan to expand - totally correct conclusion is that they worked in close ties... Ludwig dies some 8 years before HIM, leaving Dushan vulnerable again to Louis (real)) of Hungary attacks, while Venice is in huge trouble, but nothing spectacular happens and somehow Dushan remains among stronger until own death... super and probably true history, while maximally shortened but visible :yes took some 700 years for many to solve pieces of our puzzle but we are getting closer...
