How do i download campaigns classified as "Repository"
How do i download campaigns classified as "Repository"
Hello everyone,
I been playing OpenGeneral on and off for some 6 or so years now, but suddenly i noticed that in the OpenGeneral site theres more than 300 campaigns that show in the "Database".
Maybe i am dumb, but how can i download those? there doesnt seem to be any link to them, but i have seen lots of references to "the repository", where can i access it?
Thanks in advance!

Re: How do i download campaigns classified as "Repository"

Along with the full game installer
https://www.open-general.com/installer-full.php
- campaigns are downloaded --> they are grouped by e-files
You have to select the appropriate e-file and the campaigns contained in it

Repository - database is here

As Sympatyk posted, campaigns set as "repository" are included in the Complete Installerbr4zil wrote: ↑2025-03-18 03:14, Tuesday Hello everyone,

But there is a database allowing to seek for a given campaign, showing descriptions of the campaigns in the official (repository), CC and PG2 packages.
Each entry says what EFILE/s includes a given campaign, in case you have already installed the game and wants only to know which efile should you use.
Remember that you can also download a single EFILE package including all the campaigns made for ttah efile

Re: How do i download campaigns classified as "Repository"
Thank you for the replies! I never knew i had additional campaigns there!
For some reason i thought those campaigns would show up on the Campaign Catalog.
Is there any way to make all the "repository" campaigns show up in one place?
Thanks in advance for any further help!
As sidenote, "http://www.adlerkorps.com/" seems to be down and i assume its why his efiles are giving errors when attempting to download maps?
At least it seems the AK2 and AK4 campaigns do not have map files that are downloadable.

Theoretically it is possible ... and stay on accepting the word "theoretically"For some reason i thought those campaigns would show up on the Campaign Catalog.

Do you understand what an e-file is? --> why are there so many e-files in the installer?
I will say more - some campaigns are converted from one e-file to another
E-file - is approximately - specific features and attributes of units characteristic within a given e-file, assigned to appropriate classes --> defense, attack, range, also icons
We are talking here, for example, about:
- a movement table - assigning appropriate dividers for individual classes, taking into account terrain and weather properties
- the possibility of assigning organic and inorganic transports according to weights
- assignment to a specific country, faction, front
- graphic files --> flags, medals, portraits, game menu colors ..
- music files --> movement, combat, destruction Additionally, music during the game
- video files --> for victory, defeat, scenario start or end (smack)
- cfg files --> defining additional, non-standard features or their exclusions, configuration
Each e-file --> is a separate game, based on the Luisa engine
Most hosting sites for e-files built for PG2 are no longer working (they are now in game installer) Most of these files have long since stopped being updated and it may happen that campaigns represented by *.cam files may not work correctly even though all maps are availableAs sidenote, "http://www.adlerkorps.com/" seems to be down and i assume its why his efiles are giving errors when attempting to download maps?

I apologize for the mental shortcuts and possible incorrect translation into English
Re: How do i download campaigns classified as "Repository"
Thanks for the reply, i believe i understand that each EFILE is a separate game, but it seems some campaigns dont show up on the campaign selection (the list that shows multiple campaigns all across multiple EFILES), but only through the EFILE selection, why is that?sympatyk wrote: ↑2025-03-27 16:50, ThursdayMost hosting sites for e-files built for PG2 are no longer working (they are now in game installer) Most of these files have long since stopped being updated and it may happen that campaigns represented by *.cam files may not work correctly even though all maps are availableAs sidenote, "http://www.adlerkorps.com/" seems to be down and i assume its why his efiles are giving errors when attempting to download maps?

With regards to some files not being downloaded, i am unsure why that happens, but it seems to be quite a lot of the EFILES in the list having missing MAP files, hopefully i am not missing anything critical that i should have downloaded.
Re: How do i download campaigns classified as "Repository"
What causes problems with some old campaigns?
Answer this - differences in the structure and saving of scenario files created for PG2 and currently for OG
To properly play old campaigns (in PG2) you need:
- scenario (.scn file),
- map (file name.map and file .shp and file .txt)
However, to play currently (OG) you need:
- scenario (.xscn file),
- map (image - file .jpg)
As you can see, the change is that now all information is contained in the scenario. Even an image (map) can be alternatively replaced by a tile map
To understand the key moment, let's go back to the discussion of the file name.map
This is a file describing the terrain on the map and assigned to the appropriate image file --> based on the .map file, the appropriate .shp image is loaded
The problem is that the creators of the scenario changed the files name.map (without changing the image) and saved them, e.g. aanazwa.map - without reporting it to the repository (Map Finder), but only attaching it to their campaign. This causes (if the file aanazwa.map is not found) - the inability to load the image (unknown map number)
Which campaigns do you have problems with? (in which e-file?)

This is not a complete list, but here:
EFILE: EFILE_PAC:
-Missing the entire bcampdfb campaign maps (everything else is fine and downloads).
EFILE: EFILE_ORONZO:
-Missing ALEXANDR.map from Camp8 campaign (everything else is fine and downloaded).
EFILE: EFILE_OPENPG:
-Missing 29 files, most of them are jpgs that i dont think are maps, but briefing screens and such
EFILE: OPENAK:
-Campaign buzprg.cam: 3 missing map files
-Campaign dragrom.cam: Missing "Dragromch.map"
-Campaign "ggopengg2.cam" is missing all its map files.
EFILE: EFILE_OoB:
-Campaign bcampdfb.xcam is missing 1 map
-Campaign fwfllwss.xcam is missing 1 map
-Campaign ga1.xcam is missing 1 map
-Campaign zboob.xcam is missin 2 map files
The list goes on, if you want me to take a complete list of all missing files, i can do that, but since the missing files all seem a bit random (why would only some maps not download while others are fine?), i feel this is not intentional behavior. Its specially interesting to me that even EFILEs built for OpenGeneral have missing map files.
Re: How do i download campaigns classified as "Repository"

Most of the e-files included in the installation - there is no maintainer --> they were active in the PG2 era and were moved to OGHey there, I see that there is this difference between OG and PG2, my problem is that when selecting a equipment file and clicking the "Check Campaign and DL Missing Maps", I get errors that some files don't download.
They are no longer supported by the authors (last modification date 2019)
https://www.open-general.com/installer-efiles.php
I started a discussion with you, only because I am interested in everything related to maps for the game
I thought you needed to play and I wanted to help with the selected campaign - find what maps (their numbers, not names) you need. I understand that you play under the OG engine
In reality, it is the community's business whether it wants to fix all the shortcomings you mentioned ... although you can probably find some of these campaigns in CC (you have to ask Parabellum)
I'll be honest - I haven't played any campaign from this installation to the end --> but there is a Polish installation, where most of these campaigns were converted, mods were created and there are author campaigns that you won't find here (everything on Gustlik's e-file, divided into several folders)
Returning to the topic
orEFILE: OPENAK:
-Campaign "ggopengg2.cam" is missing all its map files.
Guderian's Gambit for Open General.
was not converted properly and that's why there is a problem with the maps
This zip package should help

Thank you for your repeated help, i initially just wanted to play these other campaigns that were not in the main campaign catalogue (i played quite a few of them already throught the years!). After i downloaded the EFILES in the packs and got OpenGeneral setup correctly with them with the help of you guys, i started to browse the campaigns and encounter the errors i mentioned.
So what your telling me is that not all files included in the downloadable packs are made for OG and some are for the original PG2? That some files do exist, but arent dowloaded or are downloaded in the wrong format for OG?
Sorry for so many questions!
Maybe i should start a new thread about it? I could list all files that OpenGeneral cant seem to be able to download, so maybe more knowledge-able people like you can verify if they are indeed missing from whatever server OG downloads them from or if its just a file that was never properly ported to OG?
Lastly, thank you for Guderian's Gambit, i downloaded it and extracted it to the scenario folder inside EFILE_OPENAK Folder and Open General no longer accuses it of having missing files.
Re: How do i download campaigns classified as "Repository"

A few things to start with
- I find it very difficult to write in a language I don't know --> I have to trust the translator
- I am a "guest" on the international forum and I got here quite late to be able to write about campaigns from this installation - I simply don't know them (PG2 time) --> but I know the development of PG2 and then OG through the prism of the Polish forum --> it has existed for a very long time, has its own server, its own game installation, etc. (other campaigns, mods ...)
https://forum.opengeneral.pl/
https://www.opengeneral.pl/
- let's say I am a link between these two forums
- I am mainly interested in technical issues (especially maps)
- on the Polish subforum - there are a lot of technical issues (despite the Polish language, many things are also written in English)
https://forum.open-general.com/viewforu ... d2471f5b83
Let's get to the point

Among all these campaigns - only the campaigns from the ATOMIC e-file were created from the beginning to play under OG
All the others (with a few exceptions) were created during PG2
The OG engine is developed and has changed over time
There is a difference in directories and their contents between PG2 and OG --> the formats of supported files have also changed
PG2 campaigns can be played under the OG engine, but because the access paths to specific files have changed and new formats (as well as new functions) are preferred --> old campaigns must be converted to new formats
To do this flawlessly - all files required for PG2 are needed
Technically, the conversion PG2 --> OG is very easy, but the logistics of finding all the necessary PG2 files are difficult
To understand correctly
Knowing the map number for the scenario, I can convert to OG (without the .map file) --> if the xxx.map file was individual (not reported to Map Finder) --> then the changes that the xxx.map file introduced in relation to the basic .map file will be lost
All maps exist on servers and can be downloaded - however, without the *.map file --> old formats (PG2) cannot determine what the map number is --> therefore the map (image) does not download (does not load even if you have it in the MAP directory) --> there is an error (the game cannot be started)
For example - EFILE_OPENAK - campaigns in the old format
Pay attention to dates

I don't know if anyone else is interested, apart from you
Without access to the original files (PG2) - 100% correct conversion to OG is not possible
Indicate which campaigns you want to play - I will convert to OG (if possible)
EDIT
This package should fix the problemsEFILE: OPENAK:
-Campaign buzprg.cam: 3 missing map files
-Campaign dragrom.cam: Missing "Dragromch.map"

Re: How do i download campaigns classified as "Repository"
Hey there!
After following your instructions, i now understand why some scenarios/campaigns from certain EFILEs simply never load, thank you for explaining!
I made a compiled list of all seemly missing files from the avaiable EFILEs downloadable on the packages hosted here in OG:
https://forum.open-general.com/viewtopi ... 291#p20291
Lastly, the one campaign i initially tried to get it working and was the root cause of me doing all of this was this one from EFILE_AK4K called:
-10. Brygada Kawalerii, where 10kb.cam has 2 missing mapfile, WARSAWP.map on scenarios #11 and #13.
If you know a way to get that one working on OG or have links for it, i would be very grateful!
Thanks in advance!
