Difficulty level is good. If a player wants to play a harder game the prestige level can be reduced. I was just celebrating my powerful army :lol
I think this campaign is very good if you want to play with modern equipment.

I also think that it is better to play on 3K maps mostly with some 5K maps in between in a modern campaign, like it is done here. All units travel faster and there is also helo transport. So units can easily cover greater distances. Shooting range is also much greater than in WW2.

I see there is a discussion about the equipment at the General's Guild forum. So i will explain why my core is composed like this.

Infantry: Delta 2010 (and Seals 2010) is the best Infantry unit by far. Other infantry units are not needed.
There are mostly 2 or 3 helo transports available. Delta can use helo transport and i use them to collect all the flags. I always drop them at the end of their flight, so i can use helo tranpsort for all Deltas in one turn. Thus they can cover great distances. I even can drop them, they fight, exploit success and use helo one more time.

Recon: They are to weak or to slow and they are not useful. I only kept my Bradley because it has a leader, but it is not very useful. Planes are better for spotting and infantry is better to collect all the flags. And you know, there are a lot of flags.

AT: AT is not needed. They are to weak and what is most important to not use them, they are very low on ammo! 2-4 ammo is way to low. If i have a unit with 2 ammo (TOW rockets), it can barely defend itself after combat.
In my campaign run there are 6 ATs available, but only 2 of them can attack soft targets. Infantry is the main opponent, so most of the time TOW-ATs can't attack anything.

AD: One Patriot with Ammo Attachment has 4 ammo. That is enough to defend the whole army. The enemy will not attack 5 ground units in one turn by plane.

Tanks: The M1A2SEP Abrams is the best tank and the only one with range-3. It has a greater range than most (or all?) of the enemy tanks. No need to buy otherr US tanks.

Tactical Bombers: Helicopters are to slow. On big maps you want to have planes than can go fast. Helicopters are also low an ammo. Just 2 or 3. So they need a long time to cover the big distance and then can fire only 2 or 3 times before they need a lot of time to get back to airfield and refill. Yes, there is a FARP, but why spend money when you can buy planes? AFAIK an fully loaded Apache can take 16 Hellfire/TOW + 2 Sidewinder/Stinger + Gun, why only 3 ammo?
Then there is only the AC-130 and A-10 left. The Spectre has only 3 Ammo. The Spooky has 5 Ammo but is nearly 3 times the price of an A-10!
So i buy only A-10s. A-10 is also 5 hex faster than AC-130.

Fighters: Here i have no favorite. All have 4 ammo, one has only 3. It doesn't matter much which fighters you have, they are all better (or even) than the enemy fighters.

Strategic Bombers: I did not field one. Maybe it is a good idea to train one early and then upgrade to Sentry with spotting range 25. It is even better than my E-2 Hawkeye recon plane.

Ships: Yes, maybe ships and submarines with cruise missiles have a great range, but they can only fire once/turn, so that is not very important to me.
Ships can't collect flags, can't spot on the land, can't defend VHs, can't block the enemy land units.
And, most important, the enemy ships are to weak an never a threat to my land forces. So i don't need ships.

Artillery: I think the player will end up with a combination of ATACMS and M109. Nothing to discuss here :lol

Here is my AAR after 25 scenarios. I upgraded my Bradley into a stationary radar station and won't buy any new units. I think my army is big enough, so i will put the prestige in strength points for my artillery and the Patriot AD. I also started to buy attachments. They are expensive, but now i can put all the prestige into attachements. My tactics are the same in all of the recent scenarios. I often do not deploy ground units, only 3 Deltas in air transports. Then they capture SHs and i deploy my troops. You can also call me general of air cavalry now :lol At Shanghai, Singapoore and Manila the Deltas did the bulk of the fighting and now the infantry has even more kills than the tanks. 500 vs. 498 :cool At Manila i got a BV 7 turns before the limit.

Why Deltas and not Seals? Well, i think Seals can be useful too, depends on the campaign and playing style. I think Deltas have a advantage with the [R] helo transport. The Blackhawk is 5 hex slower than the Seals' Osprey, but with the recon movement i can stop the flight and drop the Deltas, they fight, exploit success and use helo transport again.

By the way, should i ask Csaba to split the discussion off the announcement thread? What do you think?

It all depends on randowe of course, but for convenience of comparison our AAR's, I think it would be better to have both reports at the same place.

Yes, i agree with Gustlik. I think we can leave the thread where it is :cool

I have played 28 scenarios now. Shanghai, Singapore, Manila and Tunis were easy scenarios. Maybe the enemy lacks proper equipment and my helo transports are a big advantage, especially at Shanghai and Manila. But also at Tunis, where i captured all VHs in 5 turns, then waiting 10 more turns for some enemy reinforcements until the hold x VHs scenario ended.
In the last two scenarios Russia was the opponent and they have better equipment.
All my tanks have a fast speed attachment now, going 10 or 11 hex now. All fighters have a +2 ammo attachment, artillery +2 ammo or special munition.
Infantry still leads with 607 vs. 603 kills :yes

After all of my AD and ATY are on 15 strength points now and after i have a lot of attachments already, i spent all prestige to buy strength points for my planes in the last 2 scenarios, so they are less vulnerable to enemy long range AA missiles. Thats a real threat because you never know if a range 30, 40 or even range 60 AA missile launcher is located at the other end of the map.
The missile launchers can barley defend itself, but first you have to locate them...

I really liked the previous St. Petersburg and this one, Syria :cool Now i will move on to the last scenario of the campaign :yes

You are the first - from that side of the Iron Curtain - who officially played (writes, publishes reports) in the campaign on 3K and 5K maps
We are interested in your opinion - games on such maps, especially 5K

The first campaign done - only on 3K and larger maps - was created in 2016 (the maps had to be included in the campaign, because large maps above 3000px - it was not possible then - automatically download)

Of course, we're also interested in - campaign evaluation

I disn't save in the 5th turn when i had captured all VHs, but here you can see a screenshot from the 6th turn. My units are spread out across the whole map and everything is under control. I am waiting for the enemy reinforcements for the remainder of the scenario.

Finished the campaign on a high note with a BV. I really liked the campaign, it is the best modern theatre campaign i have played so far :cool

Personally i think it is better to play on 3K maps in modern campaigns, because all units are much faster than in WW2. On a standart 1920x1920 pixel map you would get to the other side in 4 or 5 turns with your ground units. 5K maps are working very good too. But on 5K maps there should be a larger amount of core/aux and enemy units. In my opinion the 9th sceanrio "Phenian" is missing at least 20 units on both sides each. A 5K map at that early stage, when the core is still small, should be filled with more aux and enemy units. But that is just my opinion. So yeah, 3K and 5K is the way to go in modern campaigns :yes

Helo transport is very powerful. Maybe much too powerful? I needed some scenarios to learn how to use it, but later i think i found the perfect tactics. I usaully send the Delta into combat by helo transport, dropped them at the end of their flight, battled the enemy, exploited success, used helo transport again to captured a flag. With this tactics a infantry unit can travel about 30 Hex/turn.

I don't know if you have considered the option to make helos buyable transports. So a helo is only usable by a single unit.
At the moment, with just 1 to 3 global helo transports i can use it for all of my infantry units in one turn. And that is what i did.It is very powerful. Even more so, when the helo itself has recon movement.
With expensive buyable helo transports or special air cavalry units, the player would have to think more about tactics.

Generally i think the scenarios after Beijing are a little to easy. There could be at least 10 more enemy units in each of the later scenarios.
Especially tanks and short range ADs (ADs hidden in the cities) are missing on the enemies side.
The enemy did not often attack my core units, i guess my core units were to strong. Especially in the later scenarios the enemy did attack my core units rarely.
When there are more than 60 points awarded the scenario is too easy i'd say. Unless it is a "Hold x VHs" scenario, were you always have to wait for the last turn.

In the whole campaign i spent only 200pp for refits. It was in one of the early scenarios where i refitted a aux units which was guarding a VH.

In the whole campaign i had 4 reloads. I am still angry about myself :bonk :bonk but all of them were because long range enemy AD and ATY. When the weapon range is 40-60 hex, you can't do anything against it. And you never know the range limits.

I did only few upgrades. It is possible to buy the best equipment early. Or at least the equipment i used :lol

Scenarios i liked the most:
10 Kim is coming
12 Deep in the Desert
30 Bloodbath in Neva :cool

But also the last two scenarios are very good, no. 31 and 32. If only there were more enemies :lol

If someone is interested in playing a modern campaign, i can recommend this one :clap

So here is my final AAR. In the last scenario i had all my planes, ADs and artilleries on 15 strength points and my infantry all on 12 (except one)

It is the combination of [X] Exploit Success and a HTP with [R] Recon Move what makes the combination so powerful.
Look at the parallel example: SEALs
They have [X], but their HTP is lacking [R]. So, SEALs jump on their HTP, fly and... have to wait for the next turn to dismount. Only in turn "2" they can Dismount, Exploit Success, Mount on HTP to fly away - but then they need to wait again before they may dismount from HTP.

Thus the easiest fix would be to disable [R] for all HTP - as exemplified with the SEALs, this would block the HTP for a turn, thus limiting the amount of "parachuting" from Helo.
Another option would be to ask Luis, that after an Exploit Success, a unit may not mount non-organic TPT anymore.

Personally i think it is better to play on 3K maps in modern campaigns, because all units are much faster than in WW2. I usaully send the Delta into combat by helo transport, dropped them at the end of their flight, battled the enemy, exploited success, used helo transport again to captured a flag. Generally i think the scenarios after Beijing are a little to easy. There could be at least 10 more enemy units in each of the later scenarios.
Especially tanks and short range ADs (ADs hidden in the cities) are missing on the enemies side.
The enemy did not often attack my core units, i guess my core units were to strong. Especially in the later scenarios the enemy did attack my core units rarely.
When there are more than 60 points awarded the scenario is too easy i'd say. Unless it is a "Hold x VHs" scenario, were you always have to wait for the last turn.

In the whole campaign i spent only 200pp for refits. It was in one of the early scenarios where i refitted a aux units which was guarding a VH.

In the whole campaign i had 4 reloads. I am still angry about myself :bonk :bonk but all of them were because long range enemy AD and ATY. When the weapon range is 40-60 hex, you can't do anything against it. And you never know the range limits.

I did only few upgrades. It is possible to buy the best equipment early. Or at least the equipment i used :lol

Scenarios i liked the most:
10 Kim is coming
12 Deep in the Desert
30 Bloodbath in Neva :cool

But also the last two scenarios are very good, no. 31 and 32. If only there were more enemies :lol

If someone is interested in playing a modern campaign, i can recommend this one :clap

So here is my final AAR. In the last scenario i had all my planes, ADs and artilleries on 15 strength points and my infantry all on 12 (except one)

If there is a next release (version) - you will probably see more of your maps there ..
I don't think if there will be any new scenario for DELTA. More, not always means better.
If there will be another edition - I would'd like to focus on game play, and enemy units roster.

I forgot to mentions two things when i wrote my report.

First: I really liked the scenario intro texts and turn messages. "Electromagnetic activity detected..." great :cool
The texts are well written and informative and add to the atmosphere because they have a nice sound ;)

Second: The most important units in my army were not the fighting ones. They fighting units are more or less interchangeable (also depends on playing style).
So for me, the most importand units were the recons, the stationary (mobile with TPT) AN/TPS Radar and the EA-18G Growler (SEAD).
Spotting is much more important when you have to counter long range cruise missiles, AD and ATY and when you want to assign targets for your own long range missiles.
Next time i'd train a level bomber early and upgrade as early as possible to a E-3 Sentry which has better speed and spotting than the EA-18.
