Okay, since I have a solid DAK campaign in the makings I thought playing the existing one (which has obvious flaws)
might be the best way to get back into the OG action.
I'll give it a go @100 since it was so long ago I have last played it.
You have to basically set your future core up with prestige (which is one major flaw) instead of free given core units,
one has to collect as many 10-strength units as possible because later buys and even Protos are 5-strength only
and overstrengthing units is no option since there is not a whole lot of prestige to be gained due to some overall
bad cap management of this campaign.
So stacking and piling up 10-strength units right out of the gate is a definitive must but you can't go all in on cheap units only
because you have to be at least somewhat competitive in the early goings to achieve some BV's.
Thats why I decided to go with:
Infantry:
2 x Infanterie w/o transports to do the fighting
2 x Feldpolizei w/o transports to be just available as 10-strengths to get upgraded later on
Artillery:
2 x 7,5 leFK18 with Maulesel
2 x 7,5 leIG18 w/o transport - same here just to have 10 strength-arties in stock for later improvements
Anti-tank:
1 x 5cm PaK38 with Pferdewagen for now
2 x 3,7 PaK36 w/o transports for later
Recon:
1 x PSW 221
Air-Defense:
1 x 3,7 FlaK36 with Pferdewagen for now
1 x 2 FlaK38 w/o transport for later
Tanks:
2 x Pz IB
Well, 2 or more 10 strength Panzers might be helpful later on, especially on the wide open desert terrain,
allthough they might not provide much fighting power until they are at least upgraded to Pz II or above.
Fighter:
None
Bomber:
None
With this picky core building setup buying Fighters or Bombers early on are out of the equation for me,
meaning Protos and lots of AD will have to do.
Maybe a Ar-196 might be an option depending on available PP's at the end of the first battle.
With a paltry 44 PP left and at least some PP's gained during the first scenario,
I might end up buying 1 to 3 more 10-strenght units, depending
on what I choose.
Off we go!
