1942-1945 THE BIG RED ONE - 1st US Infantry Division NEW CAMPAIGN for Open Adler Korps

Post by Wonderdoctor »

I completed a new campaign for the Open AdlerKorps e-file. Fifteen scenarios long, starting in Morocco and ending with Operation Unthinkable (liberating Poland from the Soviets).
Note: This is a brand new campaign, not related to DF's campaign with the same name.

Get it here:

Thank you to Luis for uploading it.

Started work on this 4 years ago but never really finished Operation Unthinkable. Adler visiting us a few weeks ago gave me the strength to do it... And I also started work on a German campaign with quite a few choice scenarios. One scenario done: the Juliputsch in Austria against fascist dictator Dollfuss. Preceded by the choice: Do this yes (with not much more than Austrian NAZIs) or no. If no, the next question comes after the death of Hindenburg and you also somewhat in control of the Reichswehr: Invade Austria or wait? All of these choices impact your relation with Italy. Some outcomes allow you to go to Abyssinia to influence how much the Italians are struggling in the second Abyssinian war. That will have an impact on how eager they are to ally with you - if there is still a chance they will (after it might be clear who is crossing them in Austria and Abyssinia). Next step is dealing with the Münich crisis - leading to a potential German civil war or France and Britain declaring war in 1938. Or not - things might go more historial. All based on the outcome of choice and regular scenarios. At least I am having fun again. Didn't do much OpenGen work after the great fun adventure of making the Belgian campaign with Luis. But that has changed ;)

Your new enthusiasm sounds good to my ears :yes .

Regarding the campaign: How do you see the chances of building a new CC from it? In terms of difficulty, would it be possible to play with different prestige settings and still be successful? I would also be willing to do tests, because I can imagine that there might be interest in it.

How good is your contact with von Adler? Would he be interested in coming back here or is he lost to the game forever?

We chat every now and then. And we drop by each other's houses to have big dinners if we are in the neighbourhood - which only happens every few years, living 1450km from each other. But it allows me to keep my promise to Steve: to - in a piecemeal fashion - give Adler half of Steve's books that he sent to my mother in law's house in the US prior to moving back to Australia and that I took to Amsterdam in 2 or 3 trips, filling up the wife's and kid's luggages with books :D

He is pondering making a Nordic campaign, using all the knowledge he has of the fighting in Norway and Finland + the history of the Swedish army. So maybe one day...

He is in the best physical shape that he has ever been in. He is doing/looking great. :yes

The campaign was certainly made to be played on different prestige settings. How well I succeeded. is something taht endeed might require a few more test runs.
Fighting is pretty infantry intensive, so I am not sure if this is a massive crowd pleaser. :dunno
