I am way too stupid to do any of that. I'm just trying to figure out how to run Panzer General on my new computer.Parabellum wrote: ↑2022-01-04 09:33, TuesdayEvery active user is welcome in our forum.
Are you interested in Open General campaigns? Then check out our Campaign Challenges subforum or the CC Archive. Here everyone will find the right campaign. AAR's from your battles are always welcome.
Original PG. Had the DOS version on CD, but can't find the disc...and my new laptop has no CD drive.
I heard you can run on an XP virtual machine - but what for?
So...I can install and run that, and get a PG clone...?sympatyk wrote: ↑2022-01-04 19:58, TuesdayI heard you can run on an XP virtual machine - but what for?
Here you have the OG (Open General) installer
http://www.open-general.com/install/Ins ... eneral.exe
Much more campaigns - you can try - there are many more possibilities.
You will have no technical problems ...
How about running Panzer General from outside your new computer...
It looks like the only way to actually do that is by downloading a new ("Wave") browser I've never heard of.Bombast the Blue wrote: ↑2022-01-05 14:30, Wednesday How about running Panzer General from outside your new computer...

My record for dismal failure is, as usual, unbelimshed. I downloaded PGF, unzipped the file...and it won't open. It seems my new computer is running in "S mode", and I have no idea how to change that. (I'm probably just too stupid.) I give up, sorry to waste everyone's time. I momentarily forgot how stupid I am.Radoye wrote: ↑2022-01-05 01:53, Wednesday That's what i thought, and that's why i wanted to make it clear. But nevertheless, OpenGen is well worth a shotit's free and easy to install, has a ton of additional content available, but it is significantly different from the original Panzer General so if you're looking for something as close as possible to the original PG(DOS) you might be disappointed.
If that doesn't work for you, you have two options:
1. Panzer General Forever (a.k.a. PGF) - a quasi-emulator of original PG that allows one to run PG/AG scenarios and campaigns on modern PCs, but with certain differences compared to the original (different AI module - not an improvement IMO, some additional game rules etc); you can get it here:
https://panzergeneraldownload.com/panze ... rever.html
(you can visit the PGF subforum on these boards, scroll down towards the bottom of the main page to find it, there you can download additional campaigns and mods)
You can change it.
There doesn't seem to be any way to change it without upgrading to windows 11.sympatyk wrote: ↑2022-01-09 11:08, Sunday
You can change it.
Your choice.

A long time ago I bought a microsoft office with a lifetime warranty for 3 positions. Everything was done until I changed the system to win 7.
It turned out that I can use it for life, but only with the XP system.![]()
Now I kept my windows system 7 and did not switch to the "free" windows 10
Yeah, tried that. It said I needed to upgrade to 11 to leave S mode.sympatyk wrote: ↑2022-01-09 17:27, Sunday![]()
I typed in the browser
Windows 10 and Windows 11 in S mode and found the page

No, you don't understand: I tried. It said I had to upgrade to Windows 11.
