The Hellraiser Club is my favorite place for concerts. It was founded in 1992 and is located in the Leipzig district Engelsdorf, about 100 km from my residence. Concerts in the middle of the week are a bit unusual. But in Saxony today is a holiday and I was able to sleep late.

It was a little experiment for me - i saw Sonata Artica in 2004 for the first and last time. At that time they were support of Nightwish and played in the "Thüringenhalle" in Erfurt. Since that time, I have not watched the development and creation of the band. So yesterday was a good opportunity to refresh the musical memories.
It was a good decision. The two support bands were a bit pale or not quite my taste, but the headliner ended the evening with a real good show.

Seriously also note to them is that we maybe are not relatives to be proud of now BUT it wasn't always like that. Let them remember how it started, when we were the ones enjoying Roman civilization, best wine and (real) houses, sending Dinars back to them, minted from gold and having empire of our own.....

Information about the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus

Due to the increasing demand whether the following concerts take place in the HELLRAISER, we can say at the moment:

Since the capacity in the Hellraiser is less than 1000 people (artists, visitors, crew, security) for the implementation of the concerts, we are NOT affected by today's entry into force of the state government of Saxony, which has no time limit, for the organization of major events for a total of 1000 people.

However, we reserve the right to check in the interest of all participants and in accordance with the guidelines of the Robert Koch Institute and in individual cases to decide together with the city of Leipzig whether the respective concert is taking place or not or is being postponed.

IMPORTANT NEWS about the LORDI CONCERT on March 14th, 2020 in the HELLRAISER!

The concert takes place, but there are prerequisites that WE as the organizer and you as the visitor must fulfill together.

As the organizer, we are obliged to ensure that the visitor's accessible health questionnaire is completed by each visitor and forwarded to the City of Leipzig's Health Department.

Admission is therefore brought forward from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The last concert of the tour took place in Leipzig. The band "Flesh Roxon" did not appear anymore. The situation was "too hot" for them. Too bad. For that, the two remaining bands played longer.
The concerts of the next few weeks were postponed indefinitely.

Tonight was finally the day: My first concert after a 16 month break from Corona.
The musicians were in a good mood and played 135 minutes

anyway, not too musical myself last 10-20 years (though my fav band is "2 steps from hell" used to open "3rd eye")) but as Randowe said earlier today, you already know... one touching point is that guys i write about from 500-600-700 years ago were mostly bearded and long haired like your bands have fun.

Ale, haha, no, so many spectators as for Wacken Open Air (WOA) 2007 were not present last night. We were a little more than 500 people. My ticket had the number 502. The number of spectators was certainly limited because of Corona, but it was not sold out. The playing time was also limited because the concert was outdoors and the area is in a residential neighborhood. The organizer has often got into trouble with the residents because of the loudness of the events and the Leipzig City Council has issued regulatory orders several times - all not easy.

just joking Para, aiming in "Germanically controlled or reserved" style of your posts, always culturally inexcessive and with chosen words even if you are a rocker (hard rocker even...) even respecting Corona, with capital letter and those people once were "German conquerors" .... btw - it is known that i like historical notes - you are nice and I'll share another one - among other realistic things it is exactly nature and very different culture of some minority living in your state (so called White Serbs, they call themselves "Serbi") that raised suspicion and (possible) theory among sceptics and curious minds that migration of Balkan Serbs is totally different in direction and tribal lines and not from that area at all. One of possible ideas is that two tribes are completely different and with another tribal organisation albeit sharing name and that Balkan Serbs, unlike "white Serbs" actually never lived in Saxony and neighboring states and came directly from Asia or Asia minor as direction of migration... later history and much better military organisation, clansman warrior types (on hills in early middle ages etc.) and some connections with Byzantine courts even from VII c and tendencies to enlarge and even create empire of Balkan Serbs might support some ideas and much closer direct descendancy from Iranic "proto-Serbs" than Saxon ones, but nonetheless as is now just curiosity.... direction is never to be known probably...

.....ah, dumb me forgot maybe even most important differences of all in that short paragraph - linguistical and genetical. While genetical are relatively new and often forgoten by inertion they are important and (sadly or interestingly) genetic/haplogroup cut from some isolated White Serb from Saxony and isolated (for example Montenegro or Herzegovina) Balkan Serb simply do not match (already talked about it in "open mike" so looke there for interest, picking "E" haplo versus "I" etc. etc.)... as for language it is pretty obvious thing and both tribes are in different subgroup, while Serbian - medieval and modern - is more closer even to Russian for example than "White Serb" one.... etc. etc.

it was emperor Constantine Porphyrogenitus and his "DAI" who created confusion and is sadly only source with some weight on subject of Balkan Serb migration, though questionable... ANYWAY sorry again to Para - keep it about music, i'll use "mike" for something interesting but had to add this becouse it makes my previous post incomplete and i like it pedantic for other readers, forgot important things... there is enough differences for support of theory that two "Serb" tribes are unrelated after all, but our Saxon brothers need not to worry, we will defend them - just call have fun Para, this is "important" to complete my thought so had to add, see all in "mike" or "translations" for anything of this type in future... Saxony is best part of Germany and important to our history who likes old subjects, even without possible link in our migration, Saxons still played role in our history and identity, were mentioned even by Dante indirectly and died in fights with Serbs versus Ottoman-Turks

Short review of last night:

Doodswens (from Eindhoven, NL) is the first support band and personnel-wise absolutely unusual - two young women! They play Old-School-Black Metal with a sound like in the early 90s ... Doodswens - Het Zwartewaterland

The second support, Valkyrja (from Stockholm, SW) did not meet my taste. Therefore he shall not be quoted here musically.

Last but not least the main attraction of the evening - MARDUK (from Norrköping, SW), the ultimate Black Metal war machine. The last time I saw them was ten years ago at the same place. MARDUK - Frontschwein

Again there was a break of half a year. Many concerts were canceled or postponed. But tonight I try to take out the rhythm again ... the Comedy Heavy Metallers from J.B.O. provide for a good mood.

Yesterday evening was well entertained. The musicians were happy to play on stage and in front of the audience again after such a long abstinence.

The guys from Erlangen have just overcome Corona illnesses a few days ago. Nevertheless, there was a huge joy in playing and they did not miss the opportunity to entertain the audience with music and animation for a total of more than 2.50 hours .

Metallica performs today in NOS Alive Festival, at Passeio Marítimo de Algés, Oeiras.
NOS is a TV/phone/net provider, Passeio Marítimo is a seaside walkway and Oeiras is a suburban town just west of Lisboa.
This is not a specialized festival but there may be other metalic bands... so, just in case.

Metallica: Thanks for sharing. The mood of the audience is fantastic and so is the band's playing.

Vagos Metal Fest: I have three favorites that I would like to see (again): Dimmu Borgir, TrollfesT and My Dying Pride. The ticket prices per day are moderate. This is also true for the single concert of Iron Maiden. For comparison: In Germany the tickets for Iron Maiden cost from 90 € upwards. I'm not willing to pay that anymore and instead go to several small concerts with "smaller" artists for that money.

In Germany, after the Corona interruption, festivals have also taken place again this year. One of the biggest is certainly the W.O.A..
From him there will also be TV broadcasts and / or Internet stream. Details are not yet known.

The 40th edition of Faro Motorbike Rally, which ended today, included concerts, among them Scream Inc. a Metallica tribute band from Ukraine.

It's multi genre but dedicated to artists from Portuguese speaking countries.
This year I think there's only one band within the heavier sphere.

I am waiting impatiently. Until then, I'll worry about which bands I would have watched. Some concerts unfortunately overlap in time and place and I have no idea if the change between stages is worth it or if you lose too much time .

First of all we have already, and for a very long time, reserved and pay the plane. And second reason we are leaving aourd 1300km from Wacken, so around 14-15h by car. Already done once in the past but it is very verylong

You're right, but with the group of friends we are going we focus on the the festival grounds (not enough vacation to spend more time there)

Some concerts unfortunately overlap in time and place and I have no idea if the change between stages is worth it or if you lose too much time

The overlap is unfortunately a habit in the big festivals, every year I have conflicts in my running order that push me to make sometimes difficult choices.
I don't think the change between stages will make a big difference, but we will see there in few days

Wacken OpenAir Festival AAR

Hi all, so after an awesome long weekend at Wacken and a well-deserved rest, here is a summary of this probably biggest Metal festival in the world:

First of all, the weather was this year on our side....only few minutes of very small rain, good temperature and sunshine at the beginning and a little bit colder the last days.

Changes that have been done on the ground are very nice and increase space in front of a lot of stages:

• switching Louder stage with Beer Garden create a new very big Berr Garden and a separate Louder stage with a very big place for a lot of people. And no conflict with other stages for a sound point of view.

• removing Headbanger and WET satge from the tents and having them as "outdoor" stages create also more place to see concerts. And in this area a new Beer Garden as been created, very nice idea.

• more space in fron of the 2 main stages

• very easy to walk through all the holy ground

• cashless introduction is a very good idea, this reduce the time to pay everything and avoid to have cash in the pocket during the festival

Only dark point:
The organization to get the festival wristband (with RFID Chip attached to it for cashless) was a real nightmare. More than 3 hours to get them (I hear than some people spend more than 4 hours)... ...the second day the Wacken organization sent an apology message to express their regret for the disastrous arrangement.

Finally, for a music point of view, it was a good year with surprises, heartfelt, beautiful discoveries:

• Avantasia perform a very nice show

• Rose Tattoo, despite his senior age, has still a lot of energy and did a perfect gig

• Clutch was amazing on stage

• Hypocrisy gave a lesson of energy to the public

• Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons perform a concert in memory of Lemmy and playing only Motörhead song. This was the best concert seen during the festival and a lot of Motörhead fans dropped a little tear at the end of the concert

• Insanity Alert was a very good surprise, a Trash/Punk/Crossover band, with great sense of humor and derision, perfomr a concert with a lot of energy

• Powerwolf, as usual, was one of the band the the most succes

• other bands seen: Overkill, Belphegor, Freedom Call, Me And That Man, Behemoth, Feuerschwanz, Orden Ogan, As I Lay Dying, Hämatom, Death Angel

In summary it was a very great festival and I have already my ticket for next year (it will be my 9th Wacken )

Thank you for your impressions of the festival .
The feeling of standing on the holy ground of Wacken and listening to music can't be replaced by anything.
I took the opportunity and watched the internet streams of Magenta.TV offered from Wednesday, August 3. They were offered in the period from noon to midnight. From Thursday, August 4, two streams in parallel.

About 75% of the bands seen by Lemmy were also offered in the stream (but I did not see them all).

Supplementary I can point out the following bands, which I have seen at least partially:

- Alligatoah: this is a rapper and I was very surprised how tolerant the metalheads have become in the meantime and also celebrated this style of music. https://www.magentamusik.de/woa-2022-alligatoah

- Mercyful Faith: have a lot of old King Diamond records, but don't listen to them anymore. The falsetto vocals are not my taste anymore.
- Tarja: what can I say? The voice is perfect but her habitus on stage and in dealing with the audience is unnatural (for me), too much acted, not from the heart.
- The Iron Maidens: what can I say, part 2? They do their job well, but I prefer the original.
- Tribulation: cleanly played, no surprise, unfortunately little stage action.

The feeling of standing on the holy ground of Wacken and listening to music can't be replaced by anything.

Totally agree with you, I have seen some video of concert that I have seen live, and it really doesn't give the same feeling

Oh yes, even if actual Arch Enemy is less brutal than in the beginning, it is still avery good band.
I have seen the concert but forget to list them in my previous post
And they have one of the most beautiful metal women (not THE most... )

Friends of mine that have seen then at Wacken said that it was in incredible concert....King Diamond as still his very special voice and the show was awsome.
I have seen them just before Covid and it was a very nice concert

Silver Dust is a Swiss rock band and I know them from a long time. The singer and guitarist Lord Campbell, his real name is Christian "Kiki" Crétin, was a former professional ice hockey goalkeeper.

On September 30 they will play at Hellraiser Leipzig. The lineup is changed in one position. Instead of "My Dying Pride" will play "Insomnium".
